2. A popular character from a quality Nintendo game series that has not a single fighter yet. There's two I would pick: Chibi-Robo (Constantly growing in popularity, being prominent as Mario's spirit AND as a Mii costume, AND there's no Assist Trophy in sight). His first three adventures were absolutely addicting and funny. It's one of Miyamoto's cutest characters. Born in 2005 on the Gamecube, and living in a Toy Story inspired world, he was wanted since Brawl. He even made it into ALL of the fanmade Smash games. He would have been my pick on the official ballot if I hadn't wasted my vote on Krystal.

Chibi-Robo is seriously the perfect Smash character. Sure, he doesn't have the biggest popularity compared to some other characters but his moveset is so easy to see. Between his Chibi Blaster, cord, and all of the tools he has at his disposal like the Chibi Copter, Toothbrush, and Squirter. His addition to Smash may even bring enough popularity to the series to warrant a true Chibi-Robo game on the Switch. I think he's also more popular in Japan so that might help boost his chances of getting in. You can't really make the argument that he's not big enough since we have Olimar, who's canonically smaller than a Gamecube disc.

Even if he doesn't make it in, I guess I can partially live out my dreams through the Mii costume. Better than nothing I suppose.

So am I the only one who liked Corrin? I’ll be honest, I was super disappointed when he/she/they (I’ll just use she from now on) were announced. I don’t really care about fire emblem, so that was kinda disappointing as the last new fighter. I ended up buying her on a whim one day anyway. She has such a unique moveset IMO. She’s not just another sword user, thanks to the dragon lance and dragon claw/mouth thing. She quickly became my main in Sm4sh, and I just knew that she wouldn’t make it in to Ultimate, so I was ecstatic when I realized that “everyone is here” meant she would make it in. Anyway, I just see people dump on Corrin a lot. I’m wondering if any of them have even actually tried her?

@lolwutTM I’ve never used her tbh. Outside of challenges that force me to Use X for X times, I don’t stray far from my main, sec, and terts 😕

@HobbitGamer Yeah, I only have a select few characters I can get truly serious with. I tend to change my main a lot, so I have a pretty good knowledge of a fair few characters actually, but if I wanna win I gotta use my main usually. That being said, one of my favorite things about Smash is the huge array of characters. My and my friend play smash all the time, and we do like to have a serious clash here and there, but mostly we love to just mess around and pick random characters.

@lolwutTM Most people that hate Corrin mostly fixate on the character in Fates, which from what I gathered was a dumpster fire in terms of characterization and story, with Corrin as one of the biggest problems. I don't know about the Smash version, but personally as someone who wasn't exposed to that, Corrin was by far the most least exciting newcomer in Smash since it was for a game that didn't even come out yet by the time he was announced. And yes, Smash has always been doing stuff like that with Animal Crossing trophies and Roy in Melee, but Corrin was by far the more egregious example since at that point Fire Emblem has exploded in popularity.

I don't hate the character itself in Smash, but just to provide some insight as to why.

@EvilLucario Yeah, I totally get why people would write her off. Like I said, even I did it at first. I just think it’s a shame, since she’s one of the more unique characters in the roster IMHO.

@lolwutTM One of the few. Even though I was planning to buy Fates, the fact that Nintendo put Corrin in smash really annoyed me. Then Fates came out, and I tried the game five times, never getting far past chapter six, before I admited to myself that I wasn't enjoying it. Also, I never particularly liked playing as or against Corrin. His/her attacks felt weird, the counter was still the same old thing, and he/she really could have utilize his/her lance attacks more.

@Tsurii I am one day going to play Fates for myself to get a better opinion on it. I can handle the gameplay just fine and that's all I need. If I do end up hating the story/characters, I can at least laugh at them in retrospect.

@EvilLucario Fire Emblem's kind of in a Pokemon type situation to be honest, a constant battle between old (pre-Awakening, Echoes) and new (Awakening, Fates) fans and in terms of battle intensity Fates is the Pokemon Let's Go of the franchise. You are better off just trying it yourself.

If we're going to get another Fire Emblem character it's almost certainly going to be Edelgard. The recent Pokemon and Fire Emblem characters show that with those series they like to go with relevant characters. I can easily see a Nintendo Direct in February where we get a trailer for Three Houses, a character reveal for Edelgard as the first DLC character, then at the end a surprise "Piranha Plant is available to play now!"

Edelgard uses axes so she would at least be a unique character. I don't think we need any more FE characters, but if we got one I'd like to see a character from Echoes since it's my favourite entry in the series so far. I don't think that's likely though.

@Cynas I could see Byleth or Edelgard though the "no echo fighters" part would make Edelgard seem more likely as Byleth appears to just be another sword user.

An awesome solution for the Fire Emblem overcrowded problem is categorising characters under Sword - Axe - Lance - Mage and possibly Archer as well!

Each skin would be a different character (alternate) It's the same concept as the Bowser Jr. koopalings. It would be a tremendous work for the animators, but assuming there will be another Smash Bros it'll have to be better in some ways. If you ask me the Super Smash Bros team has to step up their game regarding skins. Imagine how well the Fire Emblem series can be represented. Here's an example:

Sword
standard: Marth
Alm
Roy
Eliwood
Ike
Lyn
Eirika
Chrom
Ryoma
Xander

Axe
standard: Hector
Minerva
Zephiel
Frederick
Camilla
Garon

Lance
standard: Azura
Caeda
Ephraim
Camus (Zeke)
Cordelia
Lucina

Mage
standard: Micaiah
Celica
Lilina
Nino
Tharja
Robin

I'll let you guys fill in the rest. I may have forgotten someone very important. There's a few games I haven't played yet.

I'd understand if you don't like this idea, one of the issues would be that Ike and Marth play exactly the same, while their moveset was very different before. However, and this is completely personal, I would love some change! We've been playing with the same Marth and Ike since forever now. And there's a bunch of characters on the roster that play only slightly different. Believe me I'm looking forward to Ultimate and I'll be using a lot of Fire Emblem characters, but assuming there will be another Smash Bros some day, I hope they'll do a complete overhaul. Letting us switch between Sword, Lance, Axe and Mage users would be amazing.

A piece of the Triforce appeared before you! (>'.')> Touch it now!

Eel

And why would they make Micaiah the standard mage when there's characters people actually know about right in that same list.
