I'm going to continue that closed topic, which character should be killed next in a trailer. With Mario, Mega Man and now Luigi gone, the next one should be... Wario... killed by...
dundunduuun...
WALUIGI!?!
It would be great if David Wise made soundtracks to all future Nintendo games.
I don’t understand the love for the Subspace Emissary, if there is a story mode I’d want something similar to Adventure mode from Melee mixed with a silly story with lots of fan service (no not DOA type fan service)
A story with tons of fan service is what SE was. To me at least. I'm glad public opinion seems to be swinging backwards for Subspace Emissary, was always confused by people hating it
@Mrtoad Basically its a theme, like the various features of the Wii U or buying retro games individually. People hated it but now want it back when its gone.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
It’s been a few years so I might be remembering wrong, but what I remember the fan service mostly just being “hey it’s Ness and Lucas together ain’t that cool!” some of the bosses, and like three enemies not made specifically for Smash. Half of Smash is the stages and placing the characters in this boring, trying way to hard to look gritty World was a missed opportunity. I want more than just hearing Kid Icarus music in the cloud stage. I want Snake to sneak into Bowser’s castle, I want Kirby and Yoshi to have an all out fight in Dedede’s wrestling ring over something ridiculous. I want all the characters to be important to the story and not feel like they were put in last second (Toon Link and Jigglypuff, even Sonic felt like a last minute addition)
Edit: I thought the gameplay for Subspace was okay and I definitely want something a bit longer than Adventure mode, I just really hate the story
The biggest problem I had with Subspace Emissary was the setting. It was just so lifeless and boring. I much the settings from Nintendo games in Melee's Adventure mode, even if there were only few of them. I have nothing against creating original settings and enemies but you have to make them more interesting.
It would be great if David Wise made soundtracks to all future Nintendo games.
I'm a bit late with sharing my thoughts but I thought the Direct was great. I didn't expect to see this many characters. I was expecting like 5 newcomers in total since they are bringing everyone back. All the characters are great additions. I don't have as big of a connection to King K. Rool as others since I didn't play DKC trilogy that much but he looks like a fun character that has all the iconic moves from the games he appeared in. And Dedede was great.
I was mostly looking forwards to new game modes but I guess they'll show more of them next time. I liked the new multiplayer modes they showed, though. The mention of Classic mode was pretty brief and quite unnecessary since I'm sure they'll be talking about it more later.
@Mrtoad I'm the opposite. I really liked Subspace Emissary but can't really figure out why people like Adventure Mode. That said, I started with Brawl even though I really wanted a GameCube and Melee as a kid.
Not everything that, i predict came true.
all i can say is.. wow! they reveal 2 new characters and 3 Clo- er, i mean Echo Fighters. i predict new stages. but, im curious if will ever see Stage Builder again (hopefully that's in Games & More.)
happy that tournament mode has return as an offline mode again.

I'm sort of hoping that in the next reveal, Waluigi's assist trophy is killed. And then all references to him in the game are removed. And there's no alts in his colors. Then Sakkurai drops a gamecube controller like a mic and walks off camera.

So the ending video and reveal of King K. Rool got me thinking...
It began with the original characters fighting one of their main villains in Smash Bros.
Mario vs Bowser
Link vs Ganondorf
Samus vs Ridley
Kirby vs Meta Knight
Fox vs Wolf
Then we get Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong lying around with no one to fight, leading to King K. Rool's appearance. I feel like that was intentional.
That led me to wonder... Who's left?
Luigi and Yoshi
Pikachu and Jigglypuff
Ness
Captain Falcon
Could we see more pairings? Were these left off intentionally for future reveals?
There are a slew of Mario/Luigi villains that could be added
We could possibly see another Pokemon edition
I'm not all spun up on the Earthbound/Mother series and who could pair with Ness
But could we get Black Shadow???
