There's practically no comparison to that meme / slogan, Winter in Stardew valley instantly kills everything. No four seasons of wandering Essos and talking about the days getting ever-so-slightly shorter.

Yeah, just messing - winter's actually pretty cool (pun intended! ) ..waking up on that first winter morning was pretty painful - but I'm really enjoying the freedom that the season brings! I've had a couple of outbuildings built, added a well, expanded my house, upgraded my watering can, planted a couple of orchards, made a few sprinklers, constructed a few items to help me make more advanced produce in future, stockpiled resources, explored further afield and deeper down the mine - just got so much done! ..there's an old saying: 'if you fail to prepare, you should prepare to fail' - and I, for one, feel nicely prepared for the forthcoming seasons!

I love how this game makes you think short, mid and longer term all at once - and you're constantly planning ahead and learning from your mistakes as you go...but there's never any pressure - you can achieve anything you set your mind to at your own pace and in your own time I must've already played 20-or-so hours of Stardew Valley now - and I'm loving it more than ever! ..such a great game!

@NaviAndMii I fully expect that when my Switch updates the time played in Stardew Valley, it will pop up with 25-30 hours already on the clock. Would check now, except some rude teenager is playing SDV at the moment and I have adulting to do.

Dang it, peeps... I have to go for my workout, but now I just want to play Stardew Valley lol

Oh yeah! I usually keep my game suspended, so rarely see the loading screen -
but turns out that I'm 23hrs 24mins in to the game...and I feel like I'm only just getting started!

Nice! I'm not even close to getting married or anything yet! ..I'm starting to get a pretty nice little set-up at my farm now - so hopefully I'll be able to spend less time watering crops and more time socialising with the locals in year 2! I've been so focused on other projects that I haven't really done much fishing yet either (I'm only level 1!) - I find the fishing mechanic really fun, so hopefully I'll have more time for a spot of angling in year 2 as well!

Kinda loosing the drive to play now that I've gotten to level 25 in the endless Skull Cavern dungeon, married Leah, and looped around to spring again. I guess I still have the community center to finish, but most of those are fishing or out of season goods so...

Wish there was an option to sleep for certain periods of time, instead of just skipping a whole day. Time passes by fast but it works against itself frequently.

It's weird, at times I like that it passes by fast, but at other points I feel like I dont have enough time to do much. I suppose that's real life huh.

Uh oh, I've just encountered the audio crackling issue for the first time ..just woke up one (in-game) morning and the sound started crackling really badly - Tiyuri is aware of the issue and they're working on a patch apparently, which is good news (in - hope it won't be too long, 'cos it's pretty grating

EDIT: Actually, I've just read a little further down on the (linked) Reddit post and it'd appear that they've found a solution and it'll be fixed in the next patch, which is great! Phew!

For a first playthrough I'm doing a great job if I say so myself. Year 1 just ended. During my first year I got married with Emily, built a coop and a barn, fixed 3 community center rooms and got to level 31 in Skull Cavern. Total amount earned somewhat above 200.000. Got the best result with every festival except with Luau I did use the Stardew Wiki sometimes though.

Nearing the end of year 1. (restarted twice lol) Not married but I'm wearing Maru down... and I've got the deluxe coop and big barn and I took advantage of my tree layout to have about 30 trees on tap (with sprouts on the way). I have the key to the skull cavern but I'm focusing on bundles I'm bad at and putting my money into my buildings and animals to start. Will likely unlock the cavern by the middle of Spring in year 2. Trying to get the best sprinkler unlocked and the crystalarium for free although I almost have what I need to build one.

Welp, I bought this, on my brother's switch, mostly for him to play.

If I do get a switch of my own in the future, he'll have to buy his own copy.

Wow, you guys are racing with the romance! I just started my first winter and I'm nowhere NEAR getting married, in fact I just had my first scene with Abigail a few days ago. Best video game romance scene ever, though. I feel like she could be the One!

I sort of just went into Sam's room at 9 in the morning and gave him pizza while he was bed. Then we're in love apparently.

If only life was that simple. -_-.

So I've been playing for 1,5 week, and I got 2 times the 10 heart event with Shane and Harvey. But for some reason, it looked like my 'screen was too high' ?
Like the characters were 'beneath' of what my switch screen showed me. I got to read the dialogue, but I coulnd't see what was happening.

Did this happen to others aswell?

I was trying to get the green house the first year but the gold star goddess was not with me. So after starting over twice I'm just stock piling and I'll unlock it next year. I've only got 4 fruit trees right now anyway. I kept forgetting that spring was the cheapest way to ply Maru with gifts (woman has expensive taste like myself....but when I have to smelt for your love, you are hard to please lololol) but that is ok. Spring is almost here and I will make a field just for her.

Trying to keep things general as I don't know what is considered a spoiler. I've been playing the game since its release on PC (stopped after the wiiu version was announced....and then the long wait)

Some of us are in a rush, as it’s the only romance we get. Might have something to do with staying at home playing games, rather than going out to the pub, maybe I should bring my Switch to the pub and do both 😂 I now just need rain to get the thing I need to complete the deed.

I also reached the bottom of the mine last night as well.

Just finished my first year. This game is just amazing, it’s just a happy game, something that’s great to play when you’ve had a miserable day.
