After months of waiting and speculating about a date, Stardew Valley is coming to Switch on October 5th, at a price of $15. I know what I'm playing this weekend! I know both my girls will be playing it, too, as they have both powered through almost every incarnation of Harvest Moon, Rune Factory and Story of Seasons.
To me, none of the newer games have ever had as much charm as the old-school Friends of Mineral Town on GBA. I'm hoping that Stardew Valley compares well to that.
Who else is ready for some old-school indie farming action?

I'll be loading up funds sometime this week. It begins. Haru-chan, I'm back!

I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
Own this game on PC (by way of Humble Bundle), but never really got around to playing much of it. Always felt like it would be more at home on a portable device.
LO AND BEHOLD!

Finally. I'm gonna read up some PC reviews beforehand, just to reassure myself, as I've sworn off buying digital games unless on sale, but this has such a good reputation, and £11 seems reasonable, so I feel my first non-Neo Geo eshop purchase coming on. I wanna reward them for price matching Steam.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@Felly Honestly, I will end up waiting as I don't have enough money, but one of the good things about Thimbleweed Park for me is that I don't like Point and clicks, so that's a game that isn't a must-buy for me. Yay!

@AlternateButtons Thanks for the offer, I watched about half of it, then wished I hadn't. I find video reviews like that spoil a bit too much of the discovery aspect that I enjoy. I'm already coming away from that review thinking 'well the battling looks a bit token', for example. Written reviews with the occasional screenshot are more my jam
@Meowpheel Well, I guess everyone has their own definition for being spoiled. But this sort of game appeals because I expect it to have a certain charm to it, so when I start seeing little tasters of that charm, my first reaction is to be charmed, but my second reaction is to think, 'Aww, I wish I was seeing this for the first time in the game'.
Clearly, as spoilers go, it's nothing major, but I like to try and preserve as much magic as I can for my own self-discovery in-game.
As it happens, while I've got a basic idea of what Harvest Moon is all about, I've never played more than an hour of one.
@Scrummer it was serious. Cause in real life most people break up. But that's alot of Gs so best to work things out @Meowpheel now thats just horrible!
Played it for maybe 10ish hours on PC, but stopped as soon as I heard it was coming to Switch. This is gonna be the way to play it for me. I have a long bus ride coming up on Friday, too; nice couple hours of farming!
@CroRock Eric who created the game is either waiting for it midnight everywhere in the USA or waiting to release by a certain time when he goes to work or where ever indie developers go to work. He is from Seattle so it might not come out until he wakes up or so.
@ANeonChicken hmm.. I thought Nintendo manage those releases. When game is approved and date is set - it’s going live on midnight in country you live. Guess I’m wrong.
The eshop typically updates at noon EST/9AM PST. Certain games can be released midnight EST/9PM PST on either Thursday or Friday but that doesn't look like the case here as it's currently past midnight in both timezones.
