@Mountain_Man I guess it's an age thing. Watching the prequels first wasn't an option for me - they were out years after I'd seen the original trilogy so I tend to prefer to re-watch in release order.
I don't remember what order my kids first saw them, but the last time we re-watched them we did it in Episode order and even added Rogue One in there too (didn't bother with Solo). EP1 & 2 are pretty dire IMO so wouldn't recommend anyone start with those 😂
The original trilogy is still the only one really worth watching unless you crave maximum context for adaptations that are heavily reliant on prequel lore, I guess.
@ophone Depends who you ask! Opinions seem to range from steaming pile of turd, to excellent. Reality is they are probably somewhere in between.
Ep7 is essentially a rehash of Ep4. Ep8 seems to get the most hate from Star Wars fans, but I actually thought it was decent enough. Some people I know absolutely loved Ep9, but I thought it was the weakest of the 3 - too much fan service for my liking and the story was pretty ridiculous
Main thing for me though is that they don't really feel like a trilogy of movies in the same way the others do. Did you ever play that game as a kid where you'd fold a piece of paper over and one person would draw a head, the next the body, and a third would draw the legs - Then you'd unfold the paper and see what everyone else had drawn? It's a bit like that 😂

The entire story from EP 7 and onwards don't make sense especially fins he was brainwashed from being a child into thinking the empire is good yet the moment he steps off the ship for the first time in his entire life and he suddenly thinks the empire is evil
The newest trilogy’s biggest issue was lack of cohesion due to flip flopping directors.
Episode VII really was just A New Hope retold, but it was good. Episode VIII did little to advance the overall plot and is the weakest of the 3. It did, however, have a great ending. The final one did what it could to salvage the situation, and it was ok.
Rogue One was excellent though. And despite the poor reception, I rather enjoyed Solo as well. I wish they’d make another.
A January patch will remove the large text bubble in KOTOR, so that’s awesome. I have the collector edition preordered (the big one). Couldn’t resist.

I watched the prequel trilogy in one go the other week. Don’t know what made me do it but i thought I’d whack on Phantom Menace for giggles and although it’s not amazing, it’s not as bad as people make out, its watchable lol. And I just love the podrace and lightsaber duels in it.
Episode two is slightly better but not amazing either whilst I bloody love three.
Gonna go through Solo (never watched) and Rogue One (very good) next before taking on the original trilogy (amazing, amazing, good).
Not a fan of the new trilogy. 7 is good but too similar to 4. 8 gets a bit silly and 9 gets really silly.
I'm really fond of the prequel trilogy even though it has a lot of problems. There's an overuse of greenscreen effects and the actors lack chemistry or direction or something and that sterilizes the atmosphere a bit. But those were the Star Wars movies I grew up with and I have a lot of nostalgia for them. Plus - they have awesome lightsaber fights and awesome soundtracks. The latest trilogy I found kind of ho-hum but I also really liked Solo and Rogue One.

A New Hope > Empire Strikes Back > Rogue One > Return of the Jedi > Solo > The Last Jedi > Revenge of the Sith > The Phantom Menace > The Force Awakens > Attack of the Clones > Rise of Skywalker
Rise of Skywalker was such a mess. Maybe Rian Johnson deserves some blame for "subverting" the narrative momentum of the property in the middle of a trilogy, but JJ Abrams should be called out for his total lack of thematic vision or originality.
@Snaplocket It was decent, and the climax is a little shocking, given this was distributed by Disney. The characters aren't terribly memorable, mind you, but it's one of the few films in the series that I have almost no major complaints about.
The entire prequel trilogy feels almost amateurish in many respects, and RotS is no exception, but the narrative momentum going into ANH kinda propels it over some of those flaws. It's not a particularly good movie, but Anakin's arc is compelling enough on its own.
TLJ has its issues (especially when you think of it as the middle film in a trilogy), but it was a deeply interesting Star Wars film regardless. Especially when placed up against the boorish, tropey, unoriginal Abrams films. People can try to turn "subverting expectations" into a meme all they like, but it 'subverted expectations' for a reason: The Force Awakens, and Disney media in general, were creatively bankrupt, and Rian Johnson, who is actually an excellent writer, did everything he could within the constraints of the trilogy itself to craft characters, situations, themes, etc. that were actually new and unique to the franchise. It's the only film in the Disney trilogy whose script doesn't feel like it was generated by a neural network that had been fed information related to older Star Wars films.
TLJ absolutely shouldn't have been the middle film in a trilogy, but then, a hack like JJ Abrams should never have been given the keys to that particular kingdom in the first place.
@Mountain_Man I'm just glad criticism of TFA became more commonplace after Episode 9 released and everyone hated it. The absolute hype for TFA was so strong when that film first released, and I felt like I was going nuts at the time, because I was so thoroughly underwhelmed by it.
TFA was such a massive let down everything about it was bad from fin magically becoming immune to being brainwashed since he was a child to Rae being a massive marry sue with force powers unmatched by any other
The entire TFA felt like the cast was just selected purely for social diversity
Fins story made no sense what's so ever he was taken when he was a kid brainwashed & finally let out to battle in his 20s/30s yet overcame his brain wash in 5 seconds of being on the planet this was the biggest wtf moment for me it would be understandable if he had a strong affinity to the force but he doesn't.
Rae who had no training somehow rivaled and matched kylo& Luke in powers personally I think they should have made it so that mace windu survived and had a daughter/ granddaughter and Rae should have used a double bladed lifhtsaber since she was constantly carry a staff around with her
But in my honest opinion the latest trilogy should have never have happened and they should have just made some movies during the Kotor era for some epic grandscale sith Vs jedi battles
