Weeks after the Splatoon 10th anniversary icons left, I still feel like they are never being rerun

Can we all just agree that the live/Grandfest version of Daybreaker Anthem is so majestic?

@Dev-N I initially was thinking this would be the last Splatfest in Splatoon 3, but then Mario’s anniversary is coming up, so maybe we’ll get at least one more Splatfest in September to celebrate Mario’s 40th anniversary

And I guess after that, S3 Splatfests are over and the team goes off to work on Splatoon 4 (assuming Raiders has been finished by now)…

I saw a leak for Splatoon Raiders and oh goodness it was lame. I forget how much people love clickbait. It claimed:

• 2025 release
• Focus on Story
• Singleplayer
• Emphasis on Deep Cut
• Rated E10+

Gee, that's a real shock guys, wonder how they figured any of this out.... 🙄

Realistically we don’t expect Splatoon Raiders to come out until 2026, probably in the summer. Maybe the next Nintendo Direct (depending on when that is) could give another glimpse before later on we get a dedicated Direct for the game.

@MrCarlos46 Summer 2026? That seems a bit excessive for a game that, I assume, was more or less created primarily to tide us over until Splatoon 4 arrives in the next couple years here.

@vio @MrCarlos46 I doubt it will be a 2025 release due to how much is already happening this year. Thanks to stuff like Prime 4, PLZA, and (probably) Air Riders, I wouldn't expect Raiders yet. I do think it is close to completion, since (most likely) it began as part of the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass (wave 3 of the theorized 4 total) before delays to it and SO caused it to be turned into its own game. I hope it will be an early '26 release, but Splatoon games tend to be summertime releases. Plus, this one especially has that tropical feel to it. So it's very had to pinpoint anything.

@vio @CaleBoi25 As for Splatoon 4, it seems like it’s about to enter early stages of development, and if they really want much more time to work on it this time around, Splatoon 4 probably won’t come out until holiday 2029. I could imagine Nintendo makes it the big holiday game of 2029 and as something to enter the new decade with.

@OctolingKing13 I somehow imagined a first person horror game where you are trapped on a Salmonid island civilization and have to survive and GOOD GOSH I WANT IT NOW.

@Croctopus That’s what I have been thinking for some time, we’ll probably get a Splatoon 3 3rd anniversary fest or a Mario fest next month, chances are either of them be the last Splatfest in Splatoon 3.

Afterwards whichever one they go with they should add all Splatfest stages and the Grand Splatlands Bowl to private battles.

Even if Splatfests stop after September I do expect other updates to be added, perhaps one that adds support for new Deep Cut amiibo if they make some as part of Splatoon Raiders.

@Croctopus Found that out through a Discord server, and do they usually do Big Runs need the end of the month?

@Croctopus If one doesn’t get announced we’ll likely just be getting a Mario Splatfest instead, and chances are it could also be the last Splatfest for Splatoon 3.

@Croctopus Actually sad they’re skipping on one this time around, but at the same time it just feels like they’re done with Splatfests for Splatoon 3 and they don’t want to tell us or they’re just wanting to do a Mario fest instead and end with that.

Chances are a Mario fest ends up happening in October and they preempt the Splatoween space for that.

If it’s the first outcome they should already just add all Splatfest stages and the Tricolor maps (including the Grand Splatlands Bowl) to private battles.
