@SplatRay001 as far as 3rd kits go, i can live without then, but still really want them. Tricolor, on the other hand, while fun, likely wont become available outside of fests until the reruns end, and even then they will probably be pb-exclusive or at best be a limited time challenge mode like the extreme jump battle.
Do you like Tricolor battles better than Shifty Stations? (no wrong answers)
(If anyone didn't play Splatoon 2 Splatfests, "shifty station" was a new custom turf war map just for Splatfest. Each Splatfest got it's own new, unique Shifty Station. They usually had some funky strange(but likable) design, usually had some gimmick to them, rotating walls, moving floors, those hose ink line things for traveling, elevators, or gusher elevator things.)
I think the biggest flaw with tricolor is, they're too complicated/confusing especially for how rare they are, you never get to practice. - this was my problem, and why I avoided them 95% of the time.
I liked Shifty Stations better. Although, I think there's room for Nintendo to innovate for Splatoon 4 and maybe find something new that's a middle ground between shifty stations and tricolor. Or some sort of gimmick for turf war - either with some stage features, or by adding extra player powers like they have for the Challenge Modes in Spaltoon 3.
@WoomyNNYes Definitely Shifty Stations, they added an extra little surprise to Splatfest. They also added single-player only mechanics like switches, graplinks, and cannons which I really enjoyed!
Tri-Color was ok, but it was as you said a little confusing with attacking and defending and you have to play differently for each role. When they first announced it on the direct I thought it was 4 vs. 4 vs 4, I think that would have worked better that way. And I was a little disappointed it was just regular stages remixed just a little bit. Scorch Gorge Tri force stage was cool and wished they did something special for every splatfest
although my pfp is no longer a potato I am and will forever be potato-man!!!!
@WoomyNNYes I never got a chance to play Shifty Stations, but I think the best TriColor stage was Scorch Gorge or the Grand Splatlands Bowl... which were basically Shifty Stations designed for TriColor! All in all, while it wasn't perfect, TC was a better idea than SSs were because they were basically a "Ranked Mode" but in TW; but SSs were better executed since they were just "throw ideas at the wall and see what sticks." At least that is my opinion.
@WoomyNNYes I think both had their advantages. I liked a lot how Shifty Stations were new maps created specifically for Splatfests which mostly wasn't the case for Tricolor. But I also like a lot how chaotic Tricolor is such as when the attacking teams decide to fight over the Ultra Signal instead of helping each other.
Basically the science behind the series! I find it interesting how well everything was thought out, you think that one scene in the final boss fight was realistic tho?
I found this a few days ago myself: https://youtu.be/tL70Tyab9I8?si=sMsb3VvvhraGaCpt, and when I tell you that I broke down into sobs, that's barely the tip of what my emotional response actually was.
VP 340 was my limit last weapon rotation - charger, dualies, undercover brella, mystery weapon.
I kept getting scenarios I just couldn't carry, where it seemed like everything on the map goes unchecked, or we just can't make quotas while eggs are sitting around far from the basket. Really wish I could reach VP 400 and get the VP 400 checkpoint. I've been watching Rachelskiiii on youtube trying to learn & improve.
@WoomyNNYes after recently getting to vp for my first time ever, i have actually managed to keep it! :0 Even today on marooners bay i only had a single loss (wave 1 grillers) outside of that my teammates were amazing! Sadly i had to get off before i could get joe to show up, but i only need 4 more golden scales to get the cap of legend!
@CaleBoi25 Oof! this current rotation was rough for me. I dropped to VP 00 and couldn't couldn't get out of VP 00-20. I just can't carry this amount of SR ignorance/apathy. It was really demoralizing. So, I just turned it off while I still had VP.
I finally beat Hero Mode tonight, for my first time in any Splatoon game!
The final boss was cool, but I found the controls during it to be not so helpful. The severely limited number of checkpoints was really annoying, too. I preferred everything just before the boss much more.
I nabbed all the collectibles in worlds 1-6, but I’ve only actually completed every level in worlds 1 and 2, as I skipped 1 in world 3, skipped 2 in world 4, only played the three Zipcaster levels in world 5, and just beat Big Man in World 6.
For some reason, the Frye boss fight took me 13 minutes, while the Shiver boss fight took 11, yet the Big Man boss fight took me less than 2.5 minutes. Don’t know what was different.
I feel like I might want to put Splatoon 3 down for awhile after this, but I not likely can’t yet, as I may be playing in a small scale special tournament with a few newfound friends about two weeks from yesterday.
soooo ive been pretty busy, and ive not been in the splatoon mood so i havent played any matches recently ! i did get a chance to check out the Grand Festival venue, and oh boy, it was amazing. all the past characters coming to reunite for one last event was just lovely. the performances were surprisingly well detailed and good, loves off the hooks.
i was on future, but im overall glad Past won. If present one, welp, lets just say i wouldnt be hyped for a splatoon 3 deluxe. to conclude, it seemed like a lovely sendoff to a wonderful game, good job nintendo 🙃
stay fresh everyone!

@AccessibleDaydream My first time through, Frye and Shiver took me less than 10 minutes, but Big Man took me 16! Once I upgraded my Hero Shot, I took them all down in under 3... along with every other level lol (not counting the secret kettle)! I want to get sub-2 minutes on all of them, but sub-3 isn't half bad if I do say so myself!
@CaleBoi25 I had all but the very last upgrade on my Hero Shot when I fought Big Man, which I didn’t really intend to do last night, but I figured “why not? I might as well finish out the skill tree!” This then led to me playing through the run-up to and beating the final boss, which I did not know was one giant run. Before long, it was midnight, and I was in far too deep to let my frustration get the best of me. It was really cool actually, like tilting, but in a positive way.
It took me at least 20 attempts to beat the stress-test challenge stage in the first world…
After having played through most of story mode on another save file, it's striking just how quickly we can get through it if we wanted to. Since we pay with power eggs to unlock sites, you can just grind one or two missions anywhere and carefully navigate through the fuzzy ooze to get to the end of a site.
Frye is tough without upgrades, but Shiver and Big Man were easy for me even with just a few. I remember almost losing to Big Man the first time, but I think that was because I was too much in shock over his boss battle being one rather big Easter egg!
What is the Easter egg in that boss fight? I found Shiver and Frye much harder, probably due to a combination of not having as many hero gear upgrades, while also not understanding the waves of the fight as well.
Oh, this is pretty cool.😁
I completely forgot about the ability to put a custom splatoon 3 photo into a glass frame in your Splatoon 3 locker. I put a photo of my splatoon character posing with the Grizzco sign in my locker - if you look carefully.
