@WoomyNNYes Oh...that makes more sense. BTW I'm EVP 200+. I think I can help get Cale to EVP.

Abolish AI!

I thought this would have been a good weekend for SR, but its been the opposite. There were very few veteran SR players. Maybe a influx of newbs/casuals for splatoween? Or maybe veterans are playing Mario Wonder? I was struggling yesterday to complete three waves at EVP 150. I rarely saw veteran SR badges or had teammates that knew how to fight horrorboros. Demoted myself to EVP 100 to lower the difficulty, and still continued to lose all the way down to EVP 40. We'll see how the next rotation goes.

Oh 🥲

@luckyseven Looks like my success rate in Salmon Run yesterday.🤣

If I'm having a crap losing streak in turf war, sometimes I think closing the game and reopening helps, but I could be imagining that. Or, if I come back the next day, I usually have good luck.

@Croctopus They are, I’m always wondering if it’s my fault or what I could’ve done better but I still end up losing a few or several matches after. I don’t care much about losing in Turf but Anarchy hurts more considering how I’m still trying to get up from A-. It feels like it’s gotten harder lately but idk, I took some time off to play Metroid Prime so maybe I still have to freshen up a bit. And speaking of conch shells, I get so excited when I get one then I put it into the machine but then it’s a blue capsule that’ll give me decorations I don’t need or tickets when I just want purple capsules for titles 🙃
@WoomyNNYes My SR streaks can get bad too, especially during BR lol. Maybe closing and reopening could give me better luck somehow, I could try that. Also that makes sense since today I won two games of Clam Blitz in a row along with two turfs, things are getting better

xenoblade!!!

Undercover Brella in Clam Blitz is so fun! I just got a 95-0 game with 23 splats, 5 deaths, and 6 Reefsliders, plays I got all gold medals!

@luckyseven Every splatfest so far, without fail, I've gotten an insanely long lose streak, filling up the entire recent matches thing. I think its a mix of the mode being slightly unfair (last 30 seconds are all that matter) and awful matchmaking. I'm not sure, but Turf war match making seems to be "Just randomly divide 8 players into teams". Just played a match where the other team had no anchors, even though every single player on ours was one.

@CaleBoi25 Yeah, undercover in clam blitz and splat zones is super fun! (except on some maps)

Polkadot slopsuit or white slopsuit?

Been grinding for silver scales since August. I have 130 now, getting closer to 150.

@WoomyNNYes Niether, Koi Slopsuit is best!

@CaleBoi25 Yeah, I can't get into the koi or camo slopsuit. Maybe I'll just hold onto my silver scales in case the next season brings a cool new suit. Although, I don't know when next season starts.

EDIT:
Ah, december 1st. Thanks @Grumblevolcano

In all honesty though, ranking up in Anarchy is a pretty easy-going time for the first few ranks (only really getting difficult around the A+ area from personal experience) so genuinely play whatever you're best with as that'll most likely net you more wins than not

Some general tips I can give though would be:

  • Try out Brushes in Clam Blitz (speed and mobility are vital in that mode and Brushes are outclassed by none other in that department)
  • Use weapons with displacement specials in Rainmaker (e.g. Wave Breaker, Killer Wail, Tenta Missiles, etc.)
  • Try your hand with Blasters in Tower Control (undoubtedly the class' best mode and if you can master their quirks, you'll be a pro at it)
  • Test out a bunch of really good painting weapons for Splat Zones (Aerospray, Splattershot and Splattershot Jr are all good options so use a variety of different ones for SZ)

@Moffo Also, play whatever you want! Even if some weapons and specials are weaker than others (Fizza gave good pointers), they're all balanced enough that you can really play any of them (as long as you really learn how to play them. you wont find much success forcing weapons to play roles they don't want to.) I made it to x rank with vanilla tenta brella before it was good, so you can pick pretty much anything!

Edit: you asked earlier, and no the undercover brella wasn't buffed this patch. Still, I use it in clam blitz and splat zones because it's fun, and I've actually won lots with it! (another proof you can play anything)

@Moffo Should've made it more clear that undercover is still the weakest weapon in the game...
Still, if you want to play it, have fun, but I'd recommend not playing rainmaker with it — that is, if you want to keep your sanity. I made a post earlier giving undercover advice if you need any. (keep in mind what I say isn't necessarily "correct" or the only way to play the weapon)

@Moffo Best advice I can give is play to have fun. If you just lost 10 matches in a row, take a break, and come back to it when you feel better. Playing when you're upset won't help you improve. Also, remember that your rank doesn't really matter. If you play regularly, you will get better, and will gain back any ranks you've lost in the meantime. Sometimes when I'm on a losing streak, a play some tableturf, go for a run, and then try again.

@wolfleaf Marooners Bay is really fun to me, as a map, but I agree, teammates seem to be awful on it. If I could give you a tip (mind you, I am only Pro+3) it would be to put eggs on the elevators. Is you have to go down to get a Stinger, for example, throw the eggs on the lift, then when you ride up, they will all be there.

@moffo As someone who just fell from S to S- via losing streak, I can relate! Like @bingleybongley said, a short (or long) break can be really helpful! I like to play TableTurf against Gnarly Eddy for some reason, so I will do a round of that if I am doing poorly. If I am really having trouble, I scream at my teammates (JK). I usually put the Switch away and come back another day.

Sat down for a proper session of 3 for the first time in a while yesterday and good lord I got humbled to oblivion in Salmon Run; Marooner's Bay with only one weapon I'm moderately familiar with (Splatana Stamper) was not a good idea XD

Started SR at evp 40. Failed wave 1 twice, putting me at evp 00. Guess I'm not playing again until next rotation. 🤣 booyah?
