Topic: Splatoon 3

I have no idea what the SO gameplay actually is (rougelike? -'replayability', skill trees?) but it looks amazing

I thought this was coming out soon and tbh, I'm glad it isn't. I feel like after I'm done with the DLC, I'm done with the game as a whole, so this gives me more time to try to fully enjoy it as a multiplayer game

also I have like 10+ games to play in the next 4 months, and that's not even talking about games coming out I've already decided I'll get much later.

So glad we finally got an update on Side Order today! Was watching the Direct at the end of class and I had to prevent myself from screaming during the opener lol. I’m disheartened about the 2024 release date but the Inkopolis plaza was originally scheduled for Spring 2023 so it could come sooner (maybe?). This looks absolutely sick both gameplay and story-wise, don’t play rogue-likes asides from the challenge mode in Xenoblade 3 but hopefully it’s fun! I’m worried about what happened to Pearl becoming a drone and Marina being missing though

So Side Order is not based on regular Story Mode levels, or Octo Expansion?
Looks a lot like a rogue lite Salmon Run-ish mode?
Dang... I expected more crazy Story Mode like levels, like Octo Expansion.

Ohhhh. I always assumed Hotlantis offered the same items to everyone at the same time, but I guess it doesn't since I've never seen the large salmon neon sign yet. I'm fairly certain I've seen the Hotlantis offerings every day since the new season started. So far, I have only seen the neon sign that has three smaller salmon/fish on it at Hotlantis (and I bought three of those). Thanks for solving my mystery, @Budda.

EDIT: Regarding "Acht" in the trailer, it was funny watching ThatSRB2Dude, he didn't realize it was german and mispronounced it. Although, in his defense, I'll admit I didn't realize it was an octo/8 reference in german until my second time watching the trailer.

@Snatcher If you don't win most matches, then ranked can be slower for earning points to level up your catalog than Turf War. Turf War still earns a good amount of points if you lose, so that could be the best option if someone struggles to earn points in ranked.

Be sure to play matches until you get the bonus for the 'first win of the day'. That multiplier adds the biggest chunk of points you can get toward leveling up your catalog.

If you play to level up your catalog once a day, you should complete the season's catalog. (disregard if you know any of that already)

Also, someone in the comments replied saying leveling up has no point after you get all weapons at level 30 (leveling up your normal rank - not the catalog)). Each season brings a new batch of weapons, I would argue that you still want to level up to earn Sheldon tickets for weapons, because you may want several of each new season's weapons that get introduced. ...Although, if you're working on the catalog, you're already getting enough sheldon weapon tickets for when new season weapons/kits release.

Soooooooo… Just thinking about the trailer and I realized that since dedf1sh is still sanitized, will she be emotionless? Because she seemed to be somewhat personable towards Marina and their backstory. How is that possible if she is sanitized? Any ideas? (Yes I still call her dedf1sh instead of Acht haha)

Is it safe to say @CaleBoi25 has the Octotune Splatoon 2 Soundtrack(2 disk set)?😁 I'm still dying to know when the Splatoon 3 soundtrack will get released. I don't know if Octotune released before or after Octo Expansion.

With Splatoon 3 Side Order coming so late to the Switch, it makes me wonder about the next gen console. If Splatoon isn't on the first year of the next gen Nintendo console, it's less incentive for me to get the next console. I expect the next installment of Splatoon will be 2-3 years away, a while after the next console launches.

What do you guys think?

@WoomyNNYes Yeah I can't see them releasing a 4th game for a while even with the new system. Splatoon 2 did come out less than two years after Splatoon but that was a little different as hardly anyone even had a Wii U so it was like a brand new game to most people.

I'm convinced they just hate Europe at this point

@WoomyNNYes Actually, I don’t have any of the Splatune sets… I want them all though! (Along with the art books!) dedf1sh has always been a favorite, though

@Fizza Here in the US, the Off the Hook banner came with an update. We got the update last night around 8pm eastern US time (1am your time). After the update, I got the banner from the computer in the lobby, it said it was part of the DLC (aka the Expansion Pass).

@WoomyNNYes The Off the Hook banner was the Expansion Pass bonus with that update. The Deep Cut banners were the ones that came with the Splatfest article.

I'm actually still pretty nervous that the Side Order trailer only appears to show small, single room game structure. I know it's a multi-floor building, but all I have is the trailer to go by, and it only shows fighting a horde in a room on each floor. These rooms are quite plain & boring looking. I hope another trailer can show me something else.

@WoomyNNYes Oh yeah I like to level up all the weapons so I have tickets for the next season.

Does I’m in rank A I think, would you say that ranks too high to get wins or should I just do turf war?

@Snatcher I haven't played ranked in splatoon 3. If you search YouTube, i know there is a video for how to rank up the catalog, and they broke down things down with more detail.

@WoomyNNYes so splatfest really is just the most consistent way to get exp, and rank is just much too inconsistent, thanks the video was vary helpful! I will probably end up mixing rank with turf war.

I’m not a huge fan of Clam Blitz but after playing it overtime and understanding the mechanics it feels more fun to play now. I managed to win a match earlier, it was a super close one but I’m glad I’m finally winning some matches in series now. At the start of the season I had a horrible losing streak due to everyone being ranked down meaning I got matched against higher rank players, things are looking a bit brighter. Going try and get back up to A- and go from there!

Ooh, Clams is fun! I am trying to get back to S rank, but I must agree with @luckyseven that the season reset does mess with the matching system!
