Topic: Splatoon 2

Yeah I'm in the lobby, trying to play my first game. Bit then I have to go pick up my dad.

@shani How you getting on?I've won all my matches so far and playing really well,feels like I've never been away.

I'll try and get on for the NA later,even if it's just for an hour or 2.

I've played on the TV,then moved to the handheld for couple of game where I struggled with the right analogue but I'll get the hang of it and now I'm playing in tabletop with the Pro controller just for the novelty of it and it's absolutely awesome.The game looks so good on the Switch screen.

It seems the Japanese like their rock,as I've only had a handful of matches against Team Pop.

I'm guessing progress won't carry over to the full game?

@Monkeido It doesn't carry over unfortunately. When you begin the Splatfest it tells you that.

I'm playing on the 2 new maps just now, they're really good, the Starfish Mainstage especially. I only caught the 2nd map rotation on the Japanese one. The controls feel so silky smooth,it's an absolute joy to play with the Pro controller.

I thought I could only play on my limited EU session, but I guess I'm still playing?

What time is the splat fest in USA Midwest time

@Spanjard The EU splatfest ends in 53 mins (9pm UK time). The total time is 4 hours split into 2 batches of 2 hours with different stages in each.

....I'm really badly out of practise.

Also, the vertical roller swing is really messing me up. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but for now, it's led to quite a few deaths.

EDIT 1: Ah, I've kinda gotten the hang of it now. I just have to pretend it's an old rainmaker and it kinda works.

Playing Assassin helps too.

EDIT 2: There we go. Finally starting to roll teams at the 1700 mark, pun only slightly intended. Went 10 for 2, which is starting to feel like the old days again. I'm a fan of the curling bombs, they fit the ambusher playstyle far more than the suction bombs did. I can throw one out, follow it down, and trap someone between my roller and the about to explode bomb.

EDIT 3: Really enjoying these larger maps over the smaller earlier ones. Not a fan of Inkblot. It feels too small.

Splatfest was fun and also frustrating at times. I play every splatfest until i reach the last level. Won more games than i lost. Go team cake!

Man i already feel like a had enough splatoon for quite some time. Its not a game i can play for hours thats for sure. Still should be fun for some rounds every day.

@OorWullie Are you playing with motion controls?

Managed to get 5 matches in over the 4 hours! The graphical improvements are a given, what I really appreciated was the music! Love the new funky tunes

Is this the music which will be in the full game in Europe? Not a big fan of this Japanese tunes...

@OorWullie I only got to play that one match during the JP Splatfest and then I had to hurry to the train station. ^^

Then I played one and a half matches during the EU Splatfest when we were visiting my father's friend, didn't even get to finish the second match because they needed my help with something.
Now I'll launch the US Splatfest demo, but my summer flu is getting worse right now (especially the headache), so I'm not sure how long I will be playing...

But to answer your question:
Although I managed to make a few splats, I did rather poorly.
I constantly hit the 'y' button to jump and then got splatted. Getting used to this will take some time.
I also still don't get the logic behind the dodge-jump of the Dualies. When exactly does my Inkling just jump and when does he dodge? It seems like he only dodges when an enemy is near, which is rather confusing and inconsistent.
I think I'll switch back to the Splattershot for now.

If I'm not mistaken, @yokokazuo @Vee_Flamesand @TheLZdragon are also online in the demo? If you like, we can play a few matches together.

Gotta get rid of those old habits...

Btw: can someone explain to me how you use the missiles that come with the Dualies? I can't get them to shoot.
I'm assuming I have to aim at something, but hoe do I do that exactly?
