Yeah, the 'Bomb Pitcher' is definitely stretching the idea of 'all new specials' when you remember our good old friend 'Bomb Rush'. The most interesting change appears to be the fact that the Pitcher's bombs can differ from those of the subweapon that comes attached to your main weapon. Should at least make things less monotonous.
@Maxz I'm not actually too familiar with it myself, I think I know about the Ultra Machine a bit because I got it in Animal Crossing
I think it was made by Gunpei Yokoi along with other toys like the Ultra Hand and was a toy for practicing baseball so it would pitch them to you.
@Ralizah At least I'll be able to remember which one's which this time. For whatever reason, I still have a hard time remembering who's Callie and who's Marie. I try to remember by telling myself myself whichever one I think is Callie is actually Marie and vice versa. But then I'm suspicious that I might have accidentally learnt who they actually are, which means my cunning strategy will backfire.
Anyway, Callie seems like she should be the green one (to me). So Callie is therefore purple. And Marie is subsequently green. I hope I've got that right.
Marina and Pearl are much easier. Pearl is actually small and round and unsettlingly pearlescent. And Marina isn't. The designs are generally more distinct too. Marina's eyebrows appear to be in a constant state of upturned incredulity, which makes her look cool. Pearl on the other hand is just evil. And raps. She's an evil hip-hop squid-princess. Which is memorable in its own way.
I like them about the same. They work fine and I like that they look distinct and unique. Marina is pleasant to look at, if not a bit too revealing. Pearl was a bit strange, but I appreciate her quirk and attitude. It makes her feel more charming to me, at least more so than Marina.
@Dev I think we've already experienced this in a milder form in the first game. While the divide was much closer, people initially favored Callie for her looks. But in the end, well, we know how the Splatfest turned out.
The weird thing about this "war" (more of a cold war, really), is that almost none of the Inklings seem aware that Octarians still existed. The ones that do know make a concerted effort to keep this truth in the dark so as to not cause a panic. And with all the other types of marine life found in Inkopolis, seeing this new octopus based person likely didn't seem weird at all. That said, I'm still dying to know the circumstances of Pearl and Marina meeting!
@Dev I think it's happening already. I'm quickly noticing people coming around on Pearl after the initial shock of her looks (and OMG Octoling!!!) wore off.
All signs of the story seem to point to Callie being forcibly squidnapped/drafted. Because unless she's somehow a master of hiding her emotions, nothing indicates she'd be so spiteful as to release sworn enemy DJ Octavio. At worst, deep-buried feelings of resentment might be the basis of some kind of brainwashing.
The general consensus on the Single Player for Splatoon 2 (S2) seems to be positive. The really only somewhat unfavorable reaction I've seen is from Andre from Gamexplain. I haven't really seen any other, although Andre did highlight that the Single Player in S2 is very samey from Splatoon (S) and not as fresh as he expected. So if you played S you may not find this Single Player as enjoyable and fresh.
@-Green- Andre seems to be pretty picky. I don't really know for sure though, since I've only seen a few of his game reviews.
As for the splatfest, I kinda hate that I'm jumping on the Marina bandwagon, but Pearl is just kind of harsh to look at compared to Marina. She almost looks like a guy. Plus her personality doesn't really appeal to me as much as Marina's. I was planning on picking ice cream either way, though.
I didn't realise the Splatfest Premiere tomorrow is regional.I downloaded the demo from the NA shop a few days ago and it says it runs from 3 p.m.—7 p.m. PT which is 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. UK time. But on the UK Eshop is allowing me to download the demo again and it runs from 5pm to 9pm UK time.So yeah,it's obviously regional but if it's letting me download both NA and UK demo's then that means we'll be able to take part in both them.
In fact,we'll be able to play the Japanese one too as it runs from 5pm to 9pm Japanese time which 9am to 1pm UK time / 1am to 5am PT.
Really quite excited about participating in my first Splatfest! I quickly ran through the tutorial (chose Cake as my team - FTW!) - and am pleased to report that I didn't experience any of the motion control issues that I had in the Testfire! (I had a faulty Joy-Con which obviously massively affected the motion controls the first time around) ..I had to re-center my view a few times though - does it tend to go a bit wonky fairly often? (there is a re-center button after all..)
So this is driving me crazy. I could of sworn I heard or read this, but once you upgrade the weapons all the way in hero mode can they be used for online? Or did my mind just make that up.
I've been trying to look it up, but I can't confirm or deny it. I'm at work right now but I might re-watch the Splatoon E3 section again to see if it is there later.
I'm going to try and play at least 2 of the Splatfests. The Japanese one is on at a great time for me, 3pm to 7pm. The UK one is alright, 11pm to 3am. I doubt I'll be able to play it all though. The US is one is at silly o clock for me but if I wake up I'll be on,big if though.
