Ok, serious question. (This time I am asking for advice, and will seriously take to heart any informed advice offered.)
Over my last ~150 games of Turf:
I routinely lead my team in Inkling, and almost never finish outside the top 50% in that regard.
I reliably get at least 2 splats and 1 assist per game, but 4 splats happens frequently and I’ve achieved my PR (8 splats) at least twice.
I never get fewer than 2 specials off, and frequently get off 5+.
Yet, I’ve struggled to keep my W/L ratio above 1/2.
It’s too lopsided in favour of losses, over too long a period of observation, to ascribe to simple variance. There must be something I’m doing or failing to do that’s causing my team to reliably lose; there’s no other common factor among these ~150 battles except me.
I’m now level 17 but absolutely don’t want to move on to Ranked until I figure out what it is I’m doing or not doing that’s letting my team down.
If anyone has any ideas what the issue might be, please let me know!
@Northwind In that example the main reason your team lost would have been due to the Aerospray on the other team getting through the game with only one splat. You did a great job of covering turf but unfortunately an Inkbrush can't compete with an Aerospray in that regard. Only thing you can really do if your teammates are too unreliable is to target down those high inkage weapons yourself so they don't do too much damage. You especially want to avoid letting them get into your half of the map in the last 30 seconds or they can cause some pretty devastating damage at the end.
Personally i would just try ranked mode, it might make you learn some new things. Besides, you can be good at certain modes and bad at others. Turf is not always easier than ranked.
Not too sure what more i can say i'd need to see a video of a game to have a better idea. I was going to say i could play with you and see but i forgot my NSO subscription just ended a few days ago 😅
Also, you may want to try other weapons and see if you get better results
@Northwind
So, first of all, maybe try to get more splats? Remember, if you splat 2 people, you’ve killed half of the enemy team for 10ish seconds. Also, it seems like you went only for ink and specials. You NEED to get more than 4 kills. Second, use specials at more strategic locations. Don’t use them immediately. Also, use your sub weapon more often when you have the chance. A lot of times, I threw a random bomb and it killed multiple people. Also, try ranked. Trust me.
I've just given this a go again after maybe a year of not playing...god damn I suck now. I'm avoiding the ranked matches as I'm S+ and don't wont to be bumped down.
@jump I got to S+ in all the ranked modes and then never played ranked again, haha. The modes are all really fun but the whole ranking system can make it a little stressful. I enjoy playing a bit of League with a friend now and then where it doesn't matter if we're bad.
@jump@BenAV I was Profreshional 300-400 in salmon run for a while, but when the pandemic hit, I was knocked down to profreshional 100. I kept getting matched with so many newbs last year that I gave up. Now I'm rusty. Well, now I mainly play Rocket League. Anyone else reading, Splatoon is still one of my favorite & most played games. (Well, most-played until my Rocket League playtime eclipses it, which I'm surprised that I'm close to doing.)
I'm almost back to my best, I've noticed I have made some few sloppy mistakes from not remembering the stages right but I've managed to move a S+ rank up and generally winning more than I'm losing.
@BenAV Yeah I do wish you could play different modes in casual, but hey ho it's a minor thing.
I was definitely pretty rusty too after tuning in for the Mario Splatfest, but gave the game a decent push to reclaim my last X rank. And then after deciding to leave it at that for a while, I realised that - ranks be damned - I simply liked playing the game too much to treat it as a trophy cabinet. So despite my rustiness putting my ranks in jeopardy, I’ve thrown myself into it again, because it’s a damn good game and I’m going to bloody well enjoy it.
@Maxz That's a great mentatilty to have, keeping your rank high is great and all but it's not as good as actually playing the game. Plus if you're not actually playing then you don't actually deserve a S++++++++ rank.
Hello, I wanna know if there is any: skirts, dresses, any type high heeled shoes, latex/patent leather/shiny leather clothes? And if there is, then how to get each?
@SViper Pasted links to pages to all gear and shoes below. The Neo Octoling Boots are kind of high heeled boots, but I think that's the closest you'll get. They definitely aren't high heels. You have to beat octo expansion to get these. https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Neo_Octoling_Boots
@WoomyNNYes roger about shoes, but I checked that wiki Clothing list and it only shows upper part of outfits, so it wasn't helpful then and isn't helpful now. There is 2019 gamefaqs forum post saying there is 1 skirt at least, but which didn't. BTW can we wear that black skirt outfit from Octo Expansion outside Expansion story?
@SViper Right, the gear is tops, BUT there are 3 that have skirts attatched: The black Enchanted Robe (from octoling girl amiibo?), that Null Armor Replica from completing Octo Expansion, and School Uniform from inkling girl amiibo.(double check the gear that comes with the amiibo, but I think I got that right)
Yes, after you complete Octo Expansion, the gear they award you gets added to your gear inventory, and you can wear it just like all of your other gear
