@SLIGEACH_EIRE I just wanted to post this as well and I'm quite surprised by it.
So far Nintendo had excluded red ink, probably because it looked to similar to blood. So what changed their mind? Will we finally get the full colour spectrum in the normal game as well?
@BLP_Software Then it was definitely orange. The original Splatoon did have bordeaux red for some Splatfests though.
@KirbyTheVampire The vampire has got it right, I imagine. They never said why, but everyone just assumed. When it was supposed to be "red" we got Pepto-Bismol colored ink instead.
@BLP_Software Err...that was definitely orange or pink.
@meleebrawler Good point. The same parents that probably watch Game of Thrones in front of the precious little artifacts....
Squid ink actually comes in various colors.....depends on the breed. Some have black, some have blue, some have a greenish. Octopi actually do have purple (thus the purple in the single player.) Of course it all looks black in the dense concentrations of the ink sack but when it disperses in water you can see the colors sometimes. Blue, purple, and green aren't actually inaccurate. Pink and yellow on the other hand...
HOWEVER, black ink would be AWESOME. Make it happen, Nintendo!
Am I the only one that just doesn't like Pearl and Marina? They seem very 1D cardboard to me. Yet oddly have lines that could have been written for Callie & Marie, but with only half the personality of the latter. I don't see why they needed to jettison the characters that they built a brand around and relegate them to campaign-story only.
@Zyrac maybe not for regular ranked play, but like this, for a splatfest which is kind of a big carnival anyway, it could be crazy fun. Some kind of B&W theme with mayo-white ink and squid-black ink would be pretty cool. Pokemon Black vs. Pokemon White...something like that. Swimming/hiding in black ink would just be awesome.
@NEStalgia I dunno... I do like me some Callie and Marie, but I feel that personality-wise, Pearl and Marina have a bit more going for them. Pearl is an extra-young (or at least short) singer with great artistic talent but a relative lack of experience, especially in battling. She's easily distracted and perhaps thinks a bit too highly herself, but by gosh she tries, no matter what anyone says about her. Marina on the other hand is the more mature, reserved one of the two, with just as much of a sarcastic streak as Marie, though her composure cracks easily with excitement. She also idolizes the Squid Sisters, being the reason she even got into the business, so it's not like they are forgotten. It's also worth mentioning she's only been around for two years AT MOST, which is impressive. Not to mention the whole ''Octoling in Inkling society'' thing... she has guts, to defy the propaganda spread amongst her species like that.
Callie and Marie, while charming, don't really go beyond ''Callie is cheery and ditzy, Marie is sarcastic and punny with a sweet tooth''. They make up for it by being secret agents, though .
@NEStalgia@Zyrac
Maybe even something like yin vs yang(highly doubtful) or something even sillier like a zebra that is black with white stripes vs white with black stripes.
I can't wait until we get 'Tarmac vs. Asphalt' as the SplatFest theme, and then we can have two ink colours practically indistinguishable from both each other and the turf they're covering.
You would have no idea who won the game until Judd declared it. Maybe even Judd wouldn't know.
Reached S+ in Rainmaker. Without using anything other than the default Splattershot Jr. and without really considering which abilities I want to use. This is the first time I've reached S+ rank too, since I seemed to just be stuck in S rank in the first game.
Yay for me!
I got into A- today and proceeded to lose every game lol. Still haven't played much and it always seems to be tower control when I'm on. Still dont think I'm an S+ rank player but I'm having good fun.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Got into A rank for everything. RM's close to the A+, but, hey, can't complain. I have yet to lose any ink from my rank tank. Never reached the dreaded 4 cracks.
SZ's plateauing, but the other two keep flying up.
Hopefully I'll get into S for RM, as that's by far my best mode. I like the back and forth action of RM, and the fact that you get a lot more hectic battles in that, and that every second, and inch, counts.
Is it worth it to have the Splatoon 2 Amiibo's? I have the Inkling Squid Neon Purple but it has only given me a helmet so far. I thought you were able to get in-game perks every 24 hours. The last two days I went to check, the only option it gave me was to take a picture with it. Thanks for any help and advice on this.
@b4real13 I can confirm it's not time based since one time I got the clothes and shoes in one sitting with one of my amiibo. I can also rule out unlocking at set levels since one I scan for the first time at 19 and only got the hairpin. I think it's more based on either the amount of matches you play or the amount of experience you accumulate from playing when you first scan them.
Still got Carrie and Marie to scan in, so I'll keep a closer eye on the last 2 parts to see which is which, just as soon as I complete the story mode.
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

@Vee_Flames Congrats!!
Still need to get to S+ myself. But I'm at S/A+~ in all modes so it shouldn't be much longer.
Think Rainmaker is my worst mode however. (But got some really clutch plays in a league battle earlier today.
Also quad League battles have been a little dead due to Japan's Splatfest, less than 100 teams competing at times. (One rotation only had about 13 teams)
And I got my best score so far in a quad too with some friends.
Not completely sure what qualifies for a gold medal yet though.
@Maxz The Jr. with its Splat Bombs really work for me. Haven't even imagined using another weapon as extensively as the Jr. It felt just right for me from the start.
As for RM tips, I guess I only have a few: first, Rainmaker is a mode that encourages good use of the whole map, unlike Splat Zones where only a small portion of the map really matters. Keeping in mind that the mode is all about getting the Rainmaker to the enemy's base, you might want to try your best from not allowing the enemy to even get near the RM. What I do is that I throw a Splat Bomb over the Rainmaker to the enemy's side when both teams converge to break the RM shield (usually at the beginning of the match) and then try to take out some of the enemies. If a teammate has the Rainmaker, then I try to make sure they can go ahead safely by taking out enemies before they can reach the person with the rainmaker, which includes sneaking around (remember what I said about making good use of the whole map) and flanking opponents. Obviously I'm not successful all the time, but anything to stop the opponent's progress helps a lot. Oh, and something equally important; help the RM holder make a path towards the goal. Especially if you're really close to winning.
Secondly, the Rainmaker really isn't a good weapon for offense. Sure, it now fires a bomb that has a wide radius, but when things get more hectic in higher ranks AND you meet players who know what they're doing, I don't think the bomb is really that effective as an offense weapon. If you're with the RM, rather than try to take out opponents with its bombs, focus on clearing a path towards the goal with the RM. This is particularly effective for just trying to shorten the gap between the RM and the goal at the enemy base (which is what it basically comes down to in higher ranks since, well, actually getting the RM to the goal is really difficult haha). You don't even need to fire a full shot; a half-charged shot is way more effective than you think when it comes to clearing a path. Sometimes I do this so effectively, the opponents find it difficult to splat me!
I'm finding it hard to think of more strategies, but these two tips really helped me get to S+ in Rainmaker. I also try to apply these tips in Tower Control, since that mode is really just an organized Rainmaker mode
And if it helps, I'm still at rank B in Splat Zones. It's not my best mode in the slightest. Hard to make a comeback, and only a small portion of the map matters. Oh well, maybe someday... I guess.
