@StuTwo For me, its not a turn off. It is dialogue heavy with options of finding more details about the politic culture. Depending who you talk to or what you learn during exploring, you have different options on the scale system which is neat.
If you are not someone who enjoys reading, probably not the game for you. I am also assuming the story will get deeper as time goes on since this is only the first few hours. They are just giving you a heavy background of what is going on.

Just finished the demo.

It's very... dense. Lots of world-building, careful scene-setting, etc. I really liked what I played of it. Not sure if I want to replay it and check out Aesfrost or just stick with my choice this go around. Hyzante was certainly fascinating... and disturbing, with the almost communistic lifestyle it forces on its citizens, the way it punishes dissent, and, of course, the way it has enslaved and persecuted the Rosellians. The exploration of various lifestyles and ideologies reminds me of some of the great classic sci-fi I've read.

I'm 90% sold on it, and mostly just for the story. The gameplay is fine, but it's the same sort of clunky and slow tactical gameplay that failed to impress me in Final Fantasy Tactics. So, for me, the almost 2:1 ratio of story development and dialogue to actual battles doesn't bother me. It's an interactive fantasy novel with bits of gameplay here and there, and I'm fine with that.

@Ralizah I also went the same route in the game as did my friend. Anyone check out Aesfrost?

Yep, I went there instead, @komodo182 .... I'll stick with that for now & see how it affects the rest of the game when it's out

@BruceCM I'm hoping this is a game with different paths and reasons for replaying.

Well, they certainly suggest that choices will make a difference, @komodo182 .... Just how much this 1 makes in the end will have to be seen, perhaps it's a more cumulative effect with later choices?
I'm sure they'll reveal some more before it's out & of course people will end up making different decisions anyway when playing, so we'll find out

@BruceCM I have it preordered, but trying to find a place where I can preorder and pick it up same day.

I'm having mine delivered .... It should arrive on release day & it saves me going into town to gamble on if they have stock in the shop or not

Ah, I see, @komodo182 .... Probably also meaning you're a decent trip from stores that will have it on release, too? The official Nintendo store here has it & I thought the American one did, too, though? Do they either not cover your area or have similar problems with deliveries there?

@BruceCM I'm in Canada. But a Gamestop is about 5 minutes away, however, they don't do preorders for in store pickup. Only shipping.

That's a shame, @komodo182 .... They would, presumably, be very likely to have them in store on release, at least? Game over here allows you to pre-order to pick up in store, so I don't know why GS doesn't

@BruceCM it used to be an ebgames and they allowed preorders and in store pick up on release day. I may cancel my preorder with amazon and hope I can pick it up release day in a store.

Ok I take back any reservations I've had with the opening of the game. This is my kind of setup. The amount of world building and information gathering on top of the FF Tactics style fights ( I played the first demo as well but I figured that was due to it being in the middle of the game...) ? Yep I think I'll be chipping away at this for the rest of the year. I think only FE3Hopes can pull me away and I have a MASSIVE play list for this year. Defo need to buy a new tv now though. I want this on OLED instead of LED. My tv is a decade old. Time to upgrade.

I recommend the LG C1 OLED (or whatever newer model they release later this year, since a new one releases annually).

All 4 HDMI ports are 2.1 and support 4k 120fps. The more expensive Sony Bravia only provides 2.1 on half the HDMI ports.

It also has a gaming mode that reduces input latency, and all around its just a phenomenal TV for gaming.

@JaxonH I was looking at those in best buy last month actually. I hadn't officially decided to buy a tv this year, but since my salary went up and I don't need a tv larger than 55 inches...why not? Treat myself.

Well thank you to Square for providing a demo of the opening. Thank you for saving me $60. That combat is so slow and uninteresting. The graphics muddy and out of focus undocked. The storyline dry and formulaic. What a waste.

@scoobdoo wow that bad huh? I haven't tried the demo. I was planning on going in blind.
