@NintendoByNature The demo actually sold me on the game, as I wasn't really planning on buying the game any time soon. Now I'm VERY tempted to buy in on day one.
It encompasses the first three chapters of the game. So, between 2 - 4 hours of gameplay, depending on how thoroughly you play it. Demo progress supposedly transfers over to the full game.
I'd encourage you to play the demo. Maybe closer to release, so there's less waiting if you end up really digging it like I did. And if you don't like it, you end up saving yourself some money.
@Ralizah@komodo182 good stuff. I'm fairly certain I'll like it bc I'm really into the genre and I'm on a huge fire emblem kick at the moment. But, I suppose giving the demo a try wouldn't hurt closer to release
Yeah, it is a demo, you have nothing to lose, I just think setting expectations is important. This is effectively a visual novel with some light tactical gameplay thrown in for good measure. If that sounds okay to you, then you will enjoy this. If you were hoping for like a deep, tactics focused, action rpg then this will absolutely bore you to tears. Now this balance of elements may shift in the full title, but we can only base it on what the demo provides.
It's similar to Fire Emblem but... also not. It feels like a blend of story driven JRPG and Fire Emblem. And that really hits for me.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
The more I play the more I'm absolutely falling in love with this game.
I haven't played a strategy game that made me feel like this since... Fire Emblem Awakening.
I love the heavy emphasis on story, dialog and political intrigue. It fits so well with the art style. And the strategy actually feels, well, strategic! I typically prefer SRPGs where all your units move, then all the enemy units move, but they nailed it in Triangle Strategy. It has all the QoL features Three Houses had, with colored squares for movement, enemy attack range, your attack range, and red arcs showing who enemies will aggro.
The turn order, combined with attacks from elevations affecting damage, attacks from the back affecting crits, and attacking enemies with another unit adjacent to them on the opposite side triggering follow ups... it's such a magnificent blend of mechanics.
But the story and political drama, it's so good. The characters feel real, with real motivations and real emotions. The dialog is especially entrancing.
I also love how there's side stories you can initiate on the world map, very similar to support convos in Fire Emblem Awakening in the Barracks. Not exactly the same, but reminiscent nonetheless. And they're very interesting and enjoyable to watch. I look forward to them- every time I see a green icon it's like yes! And you can find notes with lore about Norzelia around the city.
I just can't get enough of this game. I was always excited for it. Always sold on it. But now the hype is setting in, hard. Playing this game is all I can think about. It's just so satisfying and addicting.

It's definitely an engrossing, slow burn kind of game. Not a pick-up-and-play like Disgaea and many FE games. It's the kind of game where you want to set aside a few hours to really get into whatever section you're tackling at the moment.
Just finished the demo, clocked in 5.75 hrs on my save file.
What an excellent game. What an absolute banger! I feel like I'm going into withdrawal now that I don't have any more to play. This sucks. I really, really wanna play some more Triangle Strategy.
March 4th can't come soon enough.

I'm downloading the demo for it right now. I've actually never played a Square RPG before so this will be interesting. I do like tactical games like Advance Wars so I'm curious how this one will play out. I'll give my thoughts on it once I've played it for a while.

It took me 5.75 hrs to complete the demo through Chapter 3.
The story is a slow burn and takes a bit to ramp up, but I love that. Most games don't take the time to build characters and set the stage to have greater emotional impact later on. This game feels like Game of Thrones in a way. Tons of various characters with simultaneous events going on around the world.
Many of the mechanics don't even get unlocked until Chapter 3. So this Prologue Demo truly does feel like the bare minimum one needs to play to get a feel for the game.

Loved the soundtrack, but I spend so much money as is, not really sure about buying soundtracks. I did that for Fire Emblem games and it just ended up becoming a reckless additional expense.
