I dunno if I'm exactly a fan of the design, but it looks like a first stage, so I'll wait and see how things go. The thing that sort of bothers me is just how it looks like it's wearing a hood, as well as the eyes and little tufts of hair sticking out of the hood itself. Doesn't really feel all that much like a pokemon to me honestly. I do find it funny though that it looks as if it's flipping people off due to it having a longer middle finger that it uses to paint.

@Kermit1 My thinking is despite the games being developed at the same time, they didn't know how well Legends would be received, hence why tons of the changes Legends introduced aren't going to be in these games. It could also end up being that the two teams didn't have much in terms of crossover with one another.

@Octane I was talking more about how Legends implemented things in general. If I had to guess with the battles, it's probably just how the two groups of developers see things at the current. If I had to bet, Gen 10 will probably have the animations from Legends.

Makes the most sense tbh.

@Octane Not trying to defend them in any way about it because yikes it's hard to go back to that style of attack after PLA showed us the light, but I think it's probably like that not just because it was developed separately from Legends, but also because it's going for a much larger scale in terms of the world than what Legends did (at least in how it's now seamless rather than zone-based). Couple that with creating an entire new Pokedex worth of mons, an entirely new competitive mechanic that applies to every single one of said mons in addition to everything else required to make an open-world game function and, like the previous game, they probably thought highly intricate attack animations were of the lowest priority. It's still not great because there is absolutely some whiplash coming off of how much detail (FOR A POKEMON GAME) Legends had in it's animations but it's by no means a deal breaker for me. Not that much of anything would actually constitute as a deal breaker for me in this series but hey it's still something.

@Fizza It's not an "intricate" attack animation. It's literally just the Pokemon moving forwards. There's hardly any animation present, it's incredibly simple, but at least sells the concept of physical attacks more than showing it as a weird range attack.
The attack animation on Pokemon Scarlet / Violet was like old Final Fantasy attacks.
Meanwhile, the attack animation on Miitopia looked better.
Gamefreaks should learn a lot from other developers.
God I cannot wait for tomorrow's trailer.
They've really kicked into overdrive with these trailers as of late haven't they. We've had 4 within the span of a month at this point and, when we were in such a long drought between February to either June/August (depending on how substantial you view the June trailer), it's quite surreal honestly. As for my predictions, I hope we get more Paldean forms and the reveal of the potential evil team. If I can get either of those I'll be a happy man.
Also, I actually won't be able to watch it live since I'll be at school at the exact same time so lose your minds for me if you don't mind until I get back around about 4:30 XD

Honestly, this trailer made me a bit more excited for the game. It feels like this is the first genuine home console mainline pokemon game, especially given that the special edition switch is an actual switch, and not just the lite.

Should I buy both versions? I decided I want to but I don't know if I should since they are the same game with only a few differences (and after looking at some of the leaks there are less version differences in these games).
The game is graphically super ugly (no point pretending it isn't anymore) and it is shame all these years later battles still appear to be mostly just Pokemon standing on the spot with limited effects BUT I really liked the energy of this trailer, at least based on the trailer this game seems like it's gonna be weird AF and I am here for this. Also while it isn't graphically very pretty, I do think some of the art direction in this seems really nice.
I am really intrigued to see how the co op and go anywhere, do anything, aspects will work. Pokemon games have always been a very controlled experience, so I dunno how you balance this? Will everything just scale off the player? I hope that isn't the case, I like being slightly over levelled in a JRPG, putting in the work to make something easier for myself. But I assume you can't do that here? As if everything has a set level, the go anywhere do anything thing wouldn't be true.
@Pizzamorg I'm usually quite lenient towards to the battle animations myself (I've supported this series since I was in the single digits in terms of age, I have a tendency to look past a lot of the more questionable stuff involved with it) but this time I have to agree with you on that front. It's not just because they're similar animations to the ones we've had for a looooooong while now (though some of them do still look pretty nice), it's the fact that battles take place openly like PLA and not in a designated area like SwSh with a moveable camera (presumably). Legends Arceus got away with it due to the animations being a lot more involved than before (such as Pokemon running up to do melee attacks for instance), but when SV handles them in the same way as SwSh, it can/does look pretty awkward (like bro how did they get away with this).
Apart from that and a worry about how progression will be handled with Gyms and such (how would you know which ones to go to first if there's no level scaling?) though, the game looks fantastic. Cannot wait for November 18th (which conveniently happens to be just under two weeks after my birthday so there's my bargaining chip I guess XD).
