@UpsideDownRowlet so technically i dont have to do the Ace tournament for the first time which i can just skip it and start doing the DLC stuff?

@seinfeldfanatic Technically, you can start the Teal Mask as soon as you become able to ride your legendary (so really early in the game), so if you want to start that right away you absolutely can. For the Indigo Disk, you will only need to have rolled credits.

The DLC has an epilogue (taking place after the events of 'The Indigo Disk') with an exclusive mythical Pokemon. That is the only thing that is locked behind the Academy Ace Tournament storyline (all gym leader rematches and at least one successful tournament challenge).

anyone know how to get an Inkay to evolve when using a Switch Lite? turning the Switch Lite upside down doesnt work when trying to evolve the Inkay

seinfeldfanatic

UpsideDownRowlet

@seinfeldfanatic Make sure the Inkay is already level 30, and that you're holding the console upside down WHILE as it levels up. It will not evolve without being leveled up.

@UpsideDownRowlet i just said i already tried that by having my Swithc LIte upside down when i entered a fight against a pokemon. the Inkay that i caught before, its at a higher level though during the DLC stuff.

i even tried an XP candy to raise the bar a little too but that didnt work when i had my switch lite upside down.

you even sure an Inkay has to be at level 30 before going another level to evolve? i remember back then for the 3DS you only needed to turn the 3DS upside down to level up an Inkay and that was it

Shiny hunting sucks in this game. the BB Academy food special that has shiny power level 1 doesnt do jack squat.

there regular food recipes to make in the game to to try to find a shiny for water pokemon like Magikarp or what?

ive always hated the whole "shiny" pokemon thing since the old Pokemon Sappphire and FireRed games from back in the day.

@seinfeldfanatic If you hate shiny Pokemon, why don't you just not look for them? But yes, there are sandwich recipes to get Lvl 3 Sparkling, Encounter, and Title meal powers.

Even with these sandwiches, shiny hunting oftentimes will take a lot of patience. It also helps a lot if you have a Shiny Charm, which doubles your likelihood of encountering a Shiny.

@seinfeldfanatic Uhh what? Shiny hunting is the easiest it's ever been in this game. You can find just about any shiny you want in about an hour of playtime and I've been able to amass about 8 boxes of them and get almost every shiny I've ever possibly wanted (aside from legendaries which are sadly shiny locked). If you're having trouble finding shinies, you're probably doing something wrong.

well that's where youre wrong, Bolt Strike. i have been doing it the "right" way where the stupid youtubers make it look "easy" to shiny hunt. its not frikkin easy to do in the first place. that is a fact.

But this past weekend I got very lucky in Pokemon legends ZA where i used that fast travel back and forth trick for Wild area zone that was the falls park that had the magikarp. i got lucky and got a regular XL "alpha" magikarp and another magikarp that was one shiny.

so i guess game freak made it way easier to try to get a shiny in the wild areas in ZA which players knew nothing about til youtubers like Austin Plays or whatever found out about the secret/trick/cheat to get a shiny magikarp.

am I going to waste my time by trying to encounter another "shiny" for any pokemon in ZA? No. Ill just stick with my one and only shiny magikarp/gyrados that ive been leveling up like crazy.

personally as a gamer, i hate the whole "shiny" thing. it was stupid back then for the original Pokemon games for the gameboy advance and the "shiny" fad is still annoying today

@seinfeldfanatic While SV shiny hunting is comparatively easy and efficient, it still takes time. YouTubers will usually edit out most of the time spent finding nothing, not out of malice or stupidity, but just because that part is boring. Also, while the shiny hunting methods are generally good, they're never guaranteed to give you the shiny you want. Before I retired from Shiny hunting, I had some hunts in Scarlet and Violet with the Sandwich method which would last hours upon hours.

Patience is still a necessity.

whatever, Rowlet. It is not easy as you claim for shiny hunting in Pokey Violet.

at least i found a shiny magikarp in Legends ZA and thats the only frikkin shiny ill stick with. ive had enough of that crap in the Pokemon games. Period
