Topic: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet

@VoidofLight half of this whole game got spoiled for me because of leaks. At least I know nothing of the story.

@VoidofLight The thing that really makes me sad about them is how early they happened. We had TWO trailers (TWO) before the floodgates burst open and it's been hard to be excited for new mons ever since when it feels like you're late to the party and no-one else is excited (I still am obviously but you know what I mean). It's been a goddamn minefield on Youtube trying to avoid leak coverage as well when they can pop up from literally nowhere. For example, I've found them under Ace Attorney music, wildlife video essays and much, much more (COULD YOU AT LEAST BLACKEN THE IMAGES). There have been a few things potentially spoiled for me (such as the possible existence of a Paldean Bisharp) but there seems to have been a counter culture as of late of people making fake leaks in response to the real ones and everything just gets worse from there since you can't even tell which ones to avoid or not. I'm excited to see Grafaiai for the first time probably tomorrow (mad how it's taken them this long to make an aye aye Pokemon yet here we are) but I can't even type SV into the Google search bar anymore in good conscience and that just makes me a bit depressed honestly considering how Pokemon is my favourite series ever made 😞

@Fizza Seriously man, it really stinks for those of us who are trying to remain pure, I actually take a lot of joy in new Pokémon reveals but those are all out the window now.

@Fizza I agree entirely. It's taken the sails out of the game for me. My favorite part of the cycle of news is discussing the reveals that happened and talking about the new pokemon that weren't leaked, but rather revealed like the way this new pokemon was. However, this cycle has been nothing more than "Oh, but this already leaked, so it's boring now.", making it seem like what you said, where everyone not wanting to pay attention to these leaks are left out effectively. It doesn't help that you have people on social media acting like everyone is like them and follows the leaks and rumors, so they plainly discuss them as if it's known info, and not just massive spoilers.

I don't care for gameplay or story spoilers in a Pokemon title, but Pokemon spoilers is what gets me generally. I don't want to know most of the dex before playing the game for myself, since discovering new species is a joy, and has lead to me liking a ton of pokemon I wouldn't have otherwise liked. Leaks like these actively ruin the experience for me, and probably many others as well, but yet people don't generally think about it.

I know how eggs work in S&V... I feel weird knowing that...

@VoidofLight Nobody is saying it's boring because it has been leaked. But this is one of the first times we have decent evidence that the leaks have been right. But there's still so much we don't know. They are more riddles than leaks really. I personally have no idea what Grafaiai looks like, so it's still exciting when it gets revealed, hopefully this week. I think there's only been two Pokemon that have been outright leaked, and those were only partial images (aside from a few incredibly blurry pics that don't reveal anything at all).

And I'm always in favour of using spoiler tags when discussing leaks.

A comment like this however should be in spoiler tags, because it implies a difference.

@Fizza FYI, there have hardly been any image leaks, they've mostly been riddles so far. I presume that most of the "leaked images" you've seen were either fake, speculation, fan art or a combination of those.

@Octane btw, as of now there are some pretty big legit image leaks happening.

@Octane Oh it's not images (THANK GOD), but it's most likely artist interpretations of said leaks and that makes me a bit concerned.

That Paldean Pyroar 'leak' was pretty funny though. I remember being so worried about it, thinking I had been spoiled before the 2nd trailer had even come out....only to then find the actual use for it XD (I do hope Pyroar comes back as just a regular mon though, I used one in my first playthrough of X and loved them to death)

@Fizza It's kinda funny reading that. I don't know anything about the fake leaks, cause I don't really follow Pokemon stuff on social media. I had no idea there was a Pyroar "leak"!

@Octane Eh, I've seen a good few claim that they've already seen this before, or know what it is that's getting revealed. Also, sorry if you thought I was venting about you there. I appreciate that you talk about this stuff with spoiler tags, and you don't try to ruin it for everyone. The topic just kinda shifted me into lamenting that these sorts of reveals still had the hype they used to carry, instead of people on other social media platforms ruining the discussion with leaks.

I wonder if there is another legendaries on Scarlet / Violet.
