Topic: Pikmin 4

Pikmin dog, 10/10.

Honestly the thing I'm most excited about is that its another Pikmin game at all.

I'm curious as to whether Water Pikmin are still going to be in the game since, at the moment, it seems like Ice performs the same functions 🤔

Pikmin 2 caves!! Yes that's the only thing I care about right now. xD

I mean, yeah they also are finally doing Night Time Mode. lol,

More excited to play this than Zelda. It’s been so long since Pikmin 3

Yeah I'm honestly just not interested in Zelda, at all. They had the chance to convince me with traditional dungeons, bosses...and all that....but, nope....it's just BotW but with floating stuff. BotW wasn't bad, but compared to other 3D Zelda games it's not that great.

Make no mistake- Zelda BotW is one of the best games I've ever played and TotK will be as well. I'm buying ALL the editions.

But right now, my hype is with Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime Remastered, the new Fantasy Life, Level 5's new DecaPolice game and Rain Code.

Mostly Metroid Prime Remastered and Pikmin at the moment though.

So it was close to being done in 2015 and now with a firm release date of 2023. So at 9 years (but likely more) is this the longest development time for a Nintendo game?

...Anyways yeah, whatever, don't care, caves are back! lol

@Fizza Nah, ice can't go underwater, and presumably they're not immune to water attacks. Winged can go over water, but they didn't make blues redundant.

So white and purple Pikmin are returning as evidenced from the box art, and ice pikmin are the new addition. I'm going to assume flying pikmin and rock pikmin aren't in this one, then? (edit: I now see flying pikmin are on the box art too) With the doggo being able to swim across water, flying lose a lot of their utility. And ice seem to be just like rock, but better.

So basically we have every type of pikmin in this game, except rock which has been replaced with the higher utility ice pikmin. That rocks!

Pikmin 3 was also a 9 year gap from Pikmin 2. Seems Pikmin is just on a 9 yr schedule. Though we did get Hey! Pikmin on 3DS between 3 and 4.

You a Pikmin fan? I used to think this was a silly casual game. Then I played it and got hooked like it was Metroid or Zelda.

@JaxonH Yeah it's a deceivingly addictive like candy cigarettes.

I'm an on and off fan, it's a nice franchise but if I didn't play a new one it's not the end of the world for me the same way if Splatoon or Zelda stopped getting made. I had 2 on the Gamecube which I played and liked but sold it when I saw they were going for a lot more than what I paid it. However Pikmin 3 on the Wii U I proper loved, I spent hours playing it and then replaying to keep my dead Pikmin count down to a minimum which seems silly. I didn't feel the need to double dip for the Switch version though but I'm pretty sure I will get 4 as I long as I don't have too much of backlog build up.

Rock pikmin are in the game!!!

This trailer sold me on the game. It just looks so purely fun. Tons of stuff to collect, new worlds to see, new Pikmin types, new game modes, etc., etc. Along with Pikmin 1 and 2 HD, it's great to see that the Switch has now become the definitive Pikmin console. Really hope it'll soon become the definitive Metroid and Zelda system as well. It's really close, but missing a few key games in their respective series.

I think it takes place after the bad ending of pikmin 1 where Olimar gets turned into a pikmin because of (presumably) olimar with a plant stem and red skin.

....A tower defense mode...not what I was expecting with a Nighttime Mode, but oki. I just figured Night mode would just be the game but harder enemies, or maybe even new ones. lol

That would've still been cool, though, playing through an entire game, but at night. xD

White Pikmin return!

So the list is now confirmed to include:

• Red Pikmin
• Yellow Pikmin
• Blue Pikmin
• Rock Pikmin
• Flying Pikmin
• White Pikmin
• Ice Pikmin
• Glow Pikmin

Is it possible Purple Pikmin also make an appearance? I do have my doubts as it could be difficult to balance the game around Pikmin that are 10x stronger. But we'll see.

Also, I love these upgrades.

I didnt know about that ending because I never played Pikmin 1. But that makes perfect sense. I looked it up on YT and saw the ending. I think you're right.

Ahhhh it looks so good! By this time tomorrow we'll be playing Pikmin 4 demo!
