Topic: Pikmin 4

At this point, it's probably safe to say Pikmin 4 never existed, and it was just a mistranslation.

@VoidofLight Nah, Miyamoto mentioned it on several occasions and it was confirmed by Nintendo separately.

@jump Could’ve been internally canceled then, or just in development hell.

When Miyamoto appeared in Direct I thought here we go maybe it's something new from Pikmin dev team now, haha.

Only took them 7 years but it's finally happening! And on a system people like at that!

@Fizza LMAO no, that interview was from 2014. 8 years. And another one until it comes out. That's almost a decade. I'm certain a grew a couple of grey hairs waiting for this game, but I'm not complaining.

I had lost all hope.

I'd love to believe this game has been in active development all the time and will be by far the biggest and best game in the series. The fact they haven't shown proper gameplay yet suggests otherwise (regarding the length of development at least) but either way I'm delighted that it exists at all.

...Of course they barely show anything off when they do announce it...Nintendo likes tormenting us. Looks nice, though.

I am so curious what went on between the initial announcement and now. Like is this game even going to be the originally planned Pikmin 4 from 2015 or did they just scrap that version? It's been very weird regardless.

But I am thrilled Pikmin is back. And like an actual new one!

So I’m a little confused, was the little Pikmin 4 trailer we saw gameplay? Or was it just a cutscene? It looks like gameplay to me but I’m not sure.

What are the chances this comes out before The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? I think it’s low but not impossible.

@DylanMcGrann No chance, it's less than four months until Zelda comes out and we haven't even seen anything of Pikmin 4 yet beyond a brief teaser. (Though having said that, we still know very little about Tears of the Kingdom too...)

@DylanMcGrann No chance, it would've been given a Spring 2023 window in the September Direct otherwise. I do think we'll see more info about the game in the next Direct though.

@DylanMcGrann @Dogorilla Pikmin 4 I feel has a real good summer release vibe to it. It doesn’t seem big enough for a holiday release and they could have the first real showing in the next Direct whenever that finally happens.
