@Darkly I don't think I have even seen the white or black ones in pictures. I guess most people would have solved it by then! That correlates to white and black being the hidden secret Yoshi's in Yoshi's Story. Not that I think they did it for that purpose, but a nice touch.

This game overheated my switch. I was playing and twice it shut itself off. I was like seriously? I may have to get one of those fan replacement kits. I didn't think paper mario would work the system so hard.

I beat the final boss...and...holy crap...did they change anything or did my skills just get rusty? I never had this much trouble in the original, lol.

After a few failed attempts I eventually had to restart from a save and redo my equipped badges, add some defense and HP and that was enough to get me through that...sheesh.

I got a orange Yoshi this time around. I think back when I played the Gamecube Version I typically got green because I was pretty quick going through that chapter. (Chapter 3 is my favorite chapter in the game.) This time while playing the remake I decided to take my time because I wanted a different color Yoshi. Really loving the remake though, it's gotten me to go back and start playing the N64 Paper mario again. Such great games! I hope that this remake sales well enough that when they decide to do another Paper Mario game its similar to TTYD and 64. I love the partners, I love the badges. Here's hoping I suppose.

@RygelXVIII
I will thanks! Probably gonna get the new fan on my next payday. I'm a little nervous about taking it apart though. It's my launch system and it's never been apart. The fan has definitely been really noisy lately.

Oh wow. I also got the same Yoshi color I did on my original playthrough on the GameCube. It was completely unintended too.

It’s orange btw.

Bloop.

Everyone's got the orange Yoshi, it seems, even me. I named mine Glottis(after the Grim Fandango character).

@Eel
Cool no worries then. My switch is my baby. I'd be lost if it died on the operating table LOL! 😉

I always got green back on the Gamecube, no idea how, guess I just didn't bother getting him until I was closer to the miniboss there.

This time I got blue, though. I always thought the timer started when you were trying to catch the egg, and that it would stop once you caught it. xD

Anyways I always named him after me, and I continued that in this version as well. xp

This remake is fine with nice remixes (especially when fighting), new animations and better graphics.

But I still prefer the N64 and Wii U games that are more charming, with a much better level-design and pace. If TTHD's fights are better than those of the original N64 game (but there is much more swap color than on N64), I don't think TTHD's fights are necessarly better than those of Color Splash (I reached a point when it is becoming quite boring, at this very repetitive chapter 3). Moreover, in spite of the nice remixes, the OST of this game remains by far the weekest of the series among with Super Paper Mario's one. And the requests at Trouble Center are still dull.

Speaking of chapter 3, since I'm playing in Japanese, I read for the first time the original name of Glitzville: Oolong Town (which reminds the Chinese tea). I don't understand why the English version changed the name of the city, whereas this tea is quite famous and that there are Chinese feeling in that city (music, building like a pagoda, and one character selling hot-dog). The name of the French version is "Yunnanville", which is better than "Glitzville", because it reminds Yunnan, one Chinese province.

I believe I almost beat the game, and wow it’s phenomenal. Finally a Paper Mario allowed to have a great story and battle engine and characters! There is such a good story with involved characters and many sub-plots, something we didn’t really see in any of the PM games in the modern era. Hopefully Nintendo knows what direction to go in after this game. TTYD built off of PM64, now I hope we get a game that builds off of TTYD.

I have been loving the music tracks that play when you’re at the room where you put the Crystal Stars. I believe when you get a Crystal Star the music adds more to it (kinda like Toad Town from Origami King) and they are wonderful tracks. This used to be just one song but all the new versions are phenomenal!

@RygelXVIII That's right: a very flat level-design.
The best dungeon of the game is in chapter 7, followed by the giant tree of chapter 2 and the Castle of chapter 1. The rest is really boring.

Speaking of the battles, I think star powers are too long, especially the second one creating an earthquake: it takes more than 30 seconds (and not particularly difficult nor interesting to perform).

That may sound crazy, but I prefer the battles in Color Splash, which are much shorter, with more interaction (in TTYD, de do absolutely nothing when we use fire flowers or POW, contrary to Color Splash), with funnier and more animated enemies and bosses (and the fact that enemies don't repop as long we don't quit the stage, and that there is no need of farming, is a good thing).

Color Splash’s battle engine is what made the game from kind of boring to worse. Clicking all the cards, spending 10 seconds to color them all in, then swiping up just felt…dumb. It just felt like a joke to me and certainly a waste of time. It may appeal to some people, but I play Paper Mario for more of a traditional RPG battle engine, as that clearly works best (in my opinion).

TTYD wastes no time with silly coloring in cards or swiping up to use them! Color Splash was a very slow game, particularly compared to the first 2 Paper Mario games.

On top of TTYD having faster pace battles, the battles also are more interactive. The Star Power moves often requiring different button/joy-stick inputs, and all the stylish moves and super guarding.

Also there’s no point to battling in CS or TOK because there is no Exp, which literally feels like an embarrassing oversight in both games. One time I jumped off an edge in TOK just to avoid a battle XD

I found TOK’s boss battles to be kind of fun,
but still not even close to how much I enjoy TTYD’s engine, however that could just be a personal preference. I prefer TTYD’s strategy and the personalities of the bosses over TOK’s more bland characters and puzzles. Some of the ‘Magic Circle’ stuff in the bosses were jokes, as you pretty much had to guess which one would work on this boss with no context.

You guys are really making me want this game sooo bad. And I had finished SMRPG last month. So I'm looking to playing this game from start to end quite soon.
