Topic: Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door!!!!!!!

Playing TTYD just makes me so happy. But I absolutely suck at flying the paper airplane. I mean, I'm abysmal at it. Poor Mario crashes and burns more often than not.

So, um, where is that badge that gives you the original ost? Was hoping to go back and forth between the new ost and old. >.<

@Joeynator3000 I bought it at the badge shop in Rogueport, I got there from the inn that Toadsworth was staying at.

That area was locked for me...I don't remember that being a thing in the original, or maybe it was after a certain point in the game, I dunno.

@Joeynator3000 The place is closed at first, but it should open after a bit more of story progress is made.

Man, it's been forever since I played the original, I can't tell what's new or old. xD

Wuhu, the game arrived today! The Mario key ring is bigger than I thought. Paper Mario's design is great.

This is the first time for me.

Started the game and I’m having a good time so far! Game looks pretty good and the combat’s fun, but the standouts for me are definitely the writing and the music, both are noticeably good.

Just played for a few minutes and got kissed already. Here we go!

@jedgamesguy Nice! The music is fantastic. The writing/story is really good, not common for Mario games to have this good of a story!

Is it just me or is the yellow B button prompt a little irritating? First time buying something at the item shop I thought this was some kind of new currency or something. ... hehe 😅

Thanks! So far it is everything I could hope for in a Paper Mario game.

Played for 2 hrs last night and so far it's fun and I'm progressing along really well. Made it to pedal town and I'm on the way to the castle. I have a wierd obsession with hammering anything and everything so I'm usually stuck on one screen for a while 🤣

Downloaded it and started playing it this arvo. A quick point RE: performance. I think that whole bit has been a bit overblown. Yes, of course, it's sub 1080p and if you look you can see the aliasing shimmering on edges. And yes you can notice that it's only 30fps, especially when you're moving through the world. And it would be nicer if it wasn't.......

.......however..... it's generally a fairly static game so neither are particularly noticeable. Especially in portable mode and in battle. And they've also just generally pushed the visuals elsewhere pretty hard. I'd go as far as saying this is one of the most visually impressive games on the Switch in terms of having a look they wanted to achieve and just nailing it

At this stage I'm half hoping that down the line perhaps we might get the same treatment for Paper Mario 64? One can dream

@Retro-banjoGC Don't think we should get too into that convo, but...in the original script of the game...(something I don't really like because I'm so used to the original translation, lol) Vivian is simply a male character. Dunno why everyone is calling him that here, pretty sure it's more like a dross-dresser kind of thing...or something.

Also, I can't decide to if I like the new ost or not...I like both versions, just let me listen to both of them at the same time, game! lol

Thousand Year Door, Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Nintendo were pretty fixated on water during the GameCube era.

Oh nooo, Mario got cursed! Hehe, this reminds me so much of Link's Awakening.

The entire gaming industry was obsessed with water for a bit, it was a good way for companies to show off how good their hardware has gotten. The Dreamcast was basically Water: The Console.

I woke up in the middle the night thinking "you idiot! You don't move the stick up and down to fly, but left and right!"

I've just finished the first chapter and TTYD is every bit as much fun as I remembered. Kudos, Nitendo.

Is it important which stat I choose to level up? Can I max every stat with the max level?
