I'm now reminded of the people who hate the mechanics X introduced and who are going to dub this the "true" next MH game.

Funny story: I was actually predicting this around the subreddit (I'd been lurking gaf and saw the signs pointing towards a PS4/Xbox One release). Got downvotes and people telling me "it has to be XX's localized name".
I popped in right after the announcement and said "Vindication-- I think some apologies are due."
-5 points last time I checked. Way to kill the messenger.

And ya, you're sure to have that. People who never had the slightest interest will hoist the game up just for it's name sake.

I wanna hold out hope though. If the weapons are still every bit as complex, if there's still i-frames, if the combat is still meticulous perfection down to the last frame, if the skill system is still in place and not dumbed down, if painting and tracking is still in, if monster hunting is still an actual challenge that can take 30 minutes and more...

But then the problems start rearing their head. Drop in co op means no separate mode. Which means monsters won't be harder. Which means hunting with others will be a cakewalk. That's gonna need to be solved.

Anyways, this IS the thread for MHXX, so Haru decided to make a new thread for World. So we can discuss the game there and all that.

I don't know, we gotta rely on Treehouse announcing it now...but the Spotlight wasted time showing stuff we knew about already. And we got ANOTHER rabbids trailer...instead of MHXX...

@Joeynator3000 Honestly, between Rex's awful voice in XC2, FE Warriors continuing the "we don't want too many sword users so we're only going to show sword users" hypocrisy, and XX's likelyhood of localization being shot, this has been a disappointing E3 for Nintendo.

I'm sure XX is still heading our way...Spotlight was perfect for announcing it....nope, we get another new Rabbids trailer instead. -.-

Its also not a spin-off which has been fully confirmed.

From a gaffer who teased MHW months ago in response to people expecting this game being localized:
"No it isn't. There are currently no plans to do so at Capcom so don't get your hopes up. Or just hope that Nintendo steps in."

@DarthNocturnal It's just so disappointing. This is how it ends... not with a bang, but with a whimper. XX Switch would've at least been a high point to "go out" on.

Capcom's screwing the people who made the franchise a million seller in the west for the sake of mass appeal.

The game is practically translated already. And by giving fans the middle finger on Nintendo platforms by releasing this "new direction" everywhere but where the fan base is, they're essentially tanking the entire series away from us.

Ya I can go play this new game on any of the above platforms, but gosh dang it, didn't MH cross 1m in the west on 3DS alone? So a simple localization that's basically complete already isn't worth doing for a potential 1m sales, but making a big budget multi platform open world release with 1.5m sales goal is?

Go screw yourself Capcom. Seriously, this is becoming personal.

Same, and I want my MH in English...so no importing unless the Switch version allows for English/translation mods.

Why are you guys making this personal? I understand it's disappointing that World was announced for another platform and there's no news of XX's translation yet, but a Monster Hunter game is certainly releasing on Switch next year. Capcom have plenty of time to announce the localization of XX after its Japanese release just as they have done in past games, and the rumor that predicted 5th gen also included a relatively unchanged Portable sequel for Switch that incorporated some of the hunter arts and styles into the usual series. It is very clear by that rumor that, regardless of how World does, Capcom sees the series' future on handheld.

Not to mention that the Nintendo Treehouse is only on its first day.

@JaxonH The fact that Sony is already getting exclusive content is telling.
They're clearly financing this game and Capcom is being fiscally conservative. They don't think the Western audience would handle a G-rank follow up well and don't want to risk anything. Besides, XX slightly underperformed in Japan. With Sony's fingers dug into World, it's pretty obvious what the Capcom of today isn't in the slightest: a risk taker. If World breaks even or makes a profit, good. If it doesn't, welp sucks to be you Sony here's the bill.

Face it-- nobody just owns a 3DS/Switch. The people genuinely ticked about this are in a distinct minority. To repeat myself: this is how it ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Monster Hunter has been my favorite video game series since I played Tri in 2011. Capcom's betrayal is damning of the Switch's 3rd party support.

Sigh This is just depressing. Honestly, this is the worst E3 I can remember. The closest thing to a stand-out is freaking this.
If we were getting XX, I'd be all for World. But this is going to greatly harm my perception of the game and the fact that Capcom is willing to crap on Western fans who cared about the previous style of gameplay is sad.

Even if, let's assume that this new game keeps all the core systems in tact, let's assume the combat is immaculate and the game just shines... let's assume all my fears were for nothing and they made a legitimate Monster Hunter game...

Even then I would surely enjoy it but I still want my core MH. And let's assume @Haru17 is right and the next Monster Hunter 5 is a Switch title.

That still means waiting years before playing another core entry. And what happens when they decide to keep MH5 in Japan because, well, why waste money localizing when they can invest that money in pushing out another western entry...

It's a no win situation. This was always my fear, from the start. A new western focused game would mean the end of the core series in the West.

I went from, just 48 hrs ago, waiting in wild anticipation for a core Monster Hunter on Switch, to realizing I won't be playing ANY Monster Hunter on Switch for years, possibly never, and the only thing I will be able to play is an uncertainty which I'm not confident won't be dumbed down for the masses. Even assuming it's not, it's still no substitute for classic quest based hunting and it's not even coming to Switch!

In my entire life I have never felt as insulted as I feel now. I understand when people say they feel betrayed. Not just with this, but lack of XX, a game which would practically translate itself due to Generations.

I guess you're right. It's a wrap. I can always go back and play MH3U on Wii U, which I suspect will gain a mass influx of gamers with nowhere else to turn. Looks like I'm forced to hope World is good now, since it's literally my only option going forward

You're just overreacting and there's all that is to it. You're ignoring every piece of evidence I throw your way just to whine senselessly. I could say anything right now any you'd type the same message, word for word. "Monster Hunter: World looks like a PS2 game," doesn't matter.
