Topic: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

I'm not convinced that a Japanese version of XX is all we're getting for the Switch, but if it is, that will indeed suck, especially since I haven't played MH since Tri and was really looking forward to playing it again.

@Haru17 It's our favorite franchise-- to go from excited over a "guaranteed" localization to not getting it at all and having to put our faith in a radical departure is a massive jump.

For what it's worth, I'm not too pessimistic over things-- but I am very disappointed in how it's been handled, and would be lying if I didn't think the situations outlined by @JaxonH don't seem likely. It's far form senseless.

Though funnily, the drab and dull coloration and more "realistic" art direction does make World look like the PS2 games.

I'm just gonna keep bothering Monster Hunter/Capcom on Twitter until they actually say something.

I don't know what to think. Nintendo has stepped in before and localized games so that's always an option so I'm still holding out hope there. I'm not going to let this upset me because Nintendo has plenty to keep me busy for the rest of this year. Sure I would like to hear better news but I refuse to overreact just yet.

Just out of spite, I hope World gets Plesioth, Khezu, Kirin, Yian Garuga, Deviljho, Alatreon, Rajang, and any other monster that infuriates the crap out of me. lol

I only perfect dodged it a couple times. It's still a pain to me.

Capcom have announced this is not being localized, combined with the news about World it seems like Stories may be the last MH on a Nintendo console outside Japan.

^ I thought that they said they have nothing to announce "currently". That isn't an outright "no".

Typical media, spinning interview translation in the worst way possible to rile up readers and rack up clicks.

Signs are pointing that we won't get XX soon, certainly not near the launch in Japan. This is a different situation: Generations got a relatively snappy localization because the 3DS had both a large install base AND established Monster Hunter audience. Switch doesn't really have both yet, AND it risks being buried under Nintendo's slew of titles, especially Splatoon 2 which is also huge in Japan.

I say we wait until Stories and/or World releases before we start freaking out about not getting it. It came out after Stories in Japan after all, and the 3DS version of XX is still a thing.

@ValhallaOutcast That whole meltdown was sad. I even tossed an article with the tweet in NL's article AND I was in the chat where Thomas heard about it saying that they just said no plans currently. I love NL for the community but not the best place for accurate news.

Edit: Agreed on them waiting till after the west gets Stories... this is how localized releases work...its been like this for at least 30 years. If a game doesn't get a simultaneous release it will get staggered and the company will pretend nobody ever heard of the Japanese version until they are ready to announce the localized version.
