@JaxonH Ah ok

If RE7 wasn't doable then I really can't see something like Devil May Cry 5 making it over and that's kind of sad considering how quickly in succession the PS2 trilogy got ported over. They're likely stopping at 4SE it looks like.

Right. But on the bright side, DMC4 is supposed to be coming, probably even this year still. That was leaked by a credible leaker already. I hope the DMC reboot also makes it over after that.

Give us our MH Rise built ground up (along with MH Generations Ultimate), MH Stories 2 ground up, RE Revelations 3 ground up (along with RE0, RE1, RE4, RE5, RE6, RE Revelations 1/2), give us DMC4 and DMC reboot (along with the HD trilogy), we already got Dragons Dogma and Mega Man 11, give us Mega Man X9... and I’d say we’ll be doing pretty good on the Capcom side.

Thank you all for the lovely responses. They pretty much confirmed what I already thought what the game would be like. Now I'm sure I'm going to play Rise. It sounds like a lot of fun. I guess my first game of 2021 is now locked!

@JaxonH If DmC comes over it better be the Definitive Edition that was released on PS4/Xbox One since PC got screwed over hard on that front. I'd also personally like to see the remaster of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as well as Ultra Street Fighter IV come over as well on the subject of MT Framework games.

So do you guys think we'll have multiple camps within the maps? Or will it be a single camp like the OG games?

Either way, it doesnt seem like those pterodactyls are in the game for fast travel. Seems we'll be using our palamute for traversing the map quickly. And that likely means that, while the maps are big and open, they might not be quite as big as the World maps (which would make sense given less powerful hardware also). This would eliminate the need for multiple camps and fast travel. A palamute that can run fast along with wire bugs that let you climb mountains could suffice.

Also, it seems mantles won't be returning either, and I think that's a good thing. They were too OP, they hid your hunter's fashionable look.

Above all, I hope you cant restock potions indefinitely at camp. That broke the game in World. It may be mitigated without fast travel making it incredibly easy to go back and restock, so if there isnt fast travel, that is at least some comfort, but ya. I really disliked Infinite potion restocking with fast travel to do it. I liked preparing for hunts and having a limit for what you could bring into the hunt. Otherwise a noob could take 50 min to down a monster because they keep fast traveling and restocking. It's better when they run out of potions and cart. Let people hit a wall if they're under prepared skill wise or armor wise.

Actually we already have most the games I listed, or they've been confirmed. And DMC4 and Mega Man X9 are already leaked as coming to Switch, so they're basically a lock. The only other ones I mentioned was DMC reboot and RE Revelations 3, and RE Revelations 3 is highly likely to release at some point. So we're not quite 10 games away, more like 2 (provided the leaked games come to fruition, which they will).

@JaxonH I understand the mentality of DMC4 SE and Mega Man X9 given how well Legacy Collection and the DMC ports did but I had no idea they were already leaked? Were they rated at all or was it that Golem Dusk guy?

Someone else, but they're rock solid. Same person who leaked DMC HD Collection.

@Ulysses
Agreed about the wire bugs. I thought same thing seeing those 3 different colored glowing bugs which apparently restock the wire bug. Not sure what the 3 colors mean though.

I'm also 100% down with vigorwasps. I liked most of the changes in World. Theres just a few specific ones I think maybe didnt work out as well as intended. Still, even if the game is identical to World in every respect, World is still a great game and the positives far outweigh any negatives. So either way I'm super hyped. But, if they can tweak and make a few changes to improve further... even better.

My biggest hope would be for activated skill thresholds with negative skills again. I loved strategizing how to to get a skill to activate, and gemming out the negatives. But to do that you really need craftable decorations rather than RNG decorations. So I hope that goes back to the old approach as well. Let talismans be RNG instead. But again, even if they dont revert back to the old style, I can live with it.

@Ulysses one doesn't read rumors clearly from the posting. Did you remember there was Switch updated version that alot of Switch owners switched to. Obviously you don't read or keep up to date what's happening with Switch innovations. Otherwise you would know what's happening now with Switch developments. The next model isn't going to be this:

modest Switch Pro ala N3DS upgrade — This is failing thinking...

This is trolling wishful thinking they already did that with the 2nd Switch update if you followed the news of past. The next upgrade will be a more powerful Switch aka Pro or Switch 2.0HD model. And your lack of history of Switch and 3DS XL history shows this.

This post is oddly aggressive. We don’t know for sure if a new Switch is coming. It’s likely, but we don’t know for sure. And if it comes, we don’t know to what extend the upgrade will be. Nintendo’s research into tech could be for the next generation, and this upgrade is indeed just a modest boost like New 3DS. We just don’t know. There’s reasonable evidence to assume either case is equally likely.

And because we don’t know, all speculation is fair game right now until we hear more.

@Varkster You might've hit the nail on the head there; since the mechanics of the two games are different in some respects, that in part influences people's attitudes. MH, from what I've read, definitely has more of a community aspect that's beneficial to all.

I don't really get the elitist and/or toxic mindsets with some fanbases in general. People play games for different reasons and have different tolerance, skill, and affinity levels for different games/genres. I really wish it was in more peoples' natures to help build others up instead of tear them down.

@Tyranexx Come to think of it, this mindset really isn't limited to Dark Souls. Many competitive games out there have this kind of toxic backlash if you do bad. Games like CS:GO, League, Valorant, etc.. all of these games you have to play with patience of steel because if you do bad, oh boy.

I didn't play a LOT of MH4U online (something I'm going to rectify when Rise comes out, as this is going to be a great game to play with the NL MonHun community), but my limited interactions with the broader community were fairly positive.

On another positive note, an IRL friend of mine who I hunted with before, but who fell off after MH4U, is also pretty excited for Rise.

While we all here in the U.S. waiting until next year in March 2021 for Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2, ive been playing Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate and been doing some of the main game story quests involving the new Valstrax. Just fought a Hermitaur for some airship upgrade. Now I have to do the Nerscylla ore thing.

I also still need to jump into Monster Hunter Stories 1 but Im not going to rush through that game. ill take my time with it when I have the chance to do so this month or in October

@urrutiap
I played MH Generations Ultimate all the way through with my bro, to the end of G rank which, you’re gonna see a Monster way cooler than Valstrax

But I hope Valstrax returns for Rise. Gosh that Monster was awesome.

@Northwind
World gave you a slot (and later 2 slots) to equip mantles, these cape like add ons that gave you buffs when you used them (put them on). The buff would last for a few minutes and then you would have a cool down timer to use it again. Rocksteady mantle protected against tremors and roars, ghillie mantle let you be invisible to monsters until you attacked, etc. The fact you could equip two of them and have them on a rotation for their cool downs meant half the hunt was spent with these crazy buffs. You could also equip other stuff in the slot like this spike you could hammer into the ground that sprayed healing mist for a few minutes.

And the maps were so big you would actually get multiple camps you could start from. You started with one but as you explored, you’d discover new areas you could use as camp sites, and from that point forward you could start a hunt from either campsite. Some maps had as much as four different campsites.

@Ulysses
Aside from a brief 50 hour stint with Heavy Bowgun in Gen Ult, i’ve never really been a gunner. I’ve just always preferred to get up close and personal. But some people absolutely love it. In either case it probably won’t affect me because I don’t plan on gunning anyways. But for your sake I hope they do it justice.

@Ralizah
MH community has historically been The most welcoming community I’ve ever seen. Back in MH3U, sure there were the occasional elitists you would run into- In fact I recall joining a lobby once with three other people who all had Kelbi bow guns, and instead of starting the hunt they just sat there waiting for me to leave because they felt anyone who didn’t have that weapon was inferior. And that angered me because I was a really good hunter back then who could hang with the best of the best.

You’re always going to have people like that but by and large the community was incredibly eager to help new people and took great joy in showing new hunters the ropes. When MH4U released, The community definitely took a turn for the worse because of all the new players that were pouring into the franchise. A lot of the etiquette was lost in hunts, such as the common courtesy to never trip someone up when they’re carving, always saying hi when you join a hunt and always thanking others for the hunt afterwards. These new players were never taught this etiquette and/or had no desire to follow it.

Then World released and dialed up the selfishness to 11. Any remnant of community was completely destroyed with World. And it’s not really the games fault, just like it wasn’t the fault of MH4U, It’s just the any time you have that many new players joining a franchise you’re going to lose a lot of that personal touch and closely knit community you had before.

We can’t do anything about the new players that will be engaging, and not only will a ton of new players be jumping in but there’s going to be a whole swath of fans from World who will also be playing, But we can still follow that etiquette ourselves and set the example as best we can for others. The community will only be as good as we make it.

@Varkster In games with team play, I'd understand some disappointment from fellow team members. But if someone is actively trying to learn and making mistakes along the way, bashing them for it without helping them improve would definitely dissuade many off of a game entirely.

@Northwind Can we help it if Amaterasu is awesome?

I usually rotate mine every month or two. Might change mine next month to something more Halloween-themed....Or I'll wait until near the holidays.

Read some fun comments on YouTube claiming this game looks worse than MHGU and genuinely wondering what type of greens lockdown got these people smoking?

@Tyranexx Just wait for the inevitable Amaterasu skin for the Palamutes.

Those people are just upset at how good it looks.

Most people’s’ reactions have been, “holy crap it looks WAY closer to World, that’s for sure” and “it looks too good for Switch”. And that’s not just Nintendo fans, that’s the PS/Xbox/PC guys on YouTube like Maximilian Dood who almost never cover Nintendo Switch news.

It’s for sure not as pretty as World, but that’s obvious because World was running on WAY more powerful consoles. But it’s shockingly similar given the portable hardware. Ya, it’s a little rough here and there, some pop in, some low res base textures for the ground, but as a whole, it’s way closer to World than Gen Ult. And people know that. That’s why they react in anger.

But make no mistake- the vast majority of reactions in YT comments has actually been positive. I can’t even count how many times I read, “looks like I’m buying a Switch”. This game is going to sell so many Switches to people who otherwise wouldn’t have bought one.

I do think we will get a new Switch model launching around the time of this game, only expecting a New 3DS style upgrade but I think it'll be enough to do stuff like improve the handheld performance of XC2.

Sony's deception a few days ago and Microsoft's cross gen plans suggests that current gen consoles will probably get 1st party cross gen support for the next 2-3 years hence we won't truly see next gen until like 2023 which would also be the release year of the Switch's successor judging by the "we're about halfway through the Switch's lifespan" comment.
