@Magician I personally think ubber graphics games releasing in 2021 is a sure sign of Switch 2 not just rumors and that BOTW2 release is more or less signing watch for coming Switch 2.

@Magician @SwitchForce I disagree with both of you! I think a modest Switch Pro ala N3DS upgrade is coming in March to coincide with MHRise, replete with a MHRise Limited Edition Switch model just like MH4U's N3DSXL model, and also like Pokemon Sword/Shield's limited edition Switch Lite.

My honest thoughts are, well for one, I dont think Zelda is gonna make it in March. It's too soon after Hyrule Warriors. Will likely be the holiday game next year. But... the game does look suspiciously good for the Switch.

With that said, I am inclined to agree that it's likely normal Switch footage. If there is a Switch+ coming theyll probably want to show off how it looks better than what we've seen at that time. I think the RE Engine is just really awesome and MH team makes sick looking games, and this was an exclusive built ground up which we havent really seen much from competent 3rd party devs. Now we see what's possible. If a Switch+ is revealed for March, which I think is likely, they'll show "improved framerate" and if a Switch version of DLSS is used, ensure it outputs at higher resolution. I really do think the game just looks good because it's an exclusive from the MH team using RE Engine.

So I guess now it's officially confirmed MH Rise is using the RE Engine

If it's a custom built Switch-specific version of the engine maybe the console will finally get a shot at getting specifically optimized ports of the other RE Engine games. I think DMC5 would probably be way too taxing on the hardware especially looking at Legendary Dark Knight mode in the Special Edition, but maybe now the Switch can finally get a proper native port of Resi 7?

Negative.

Dusk Golem already deconfirmed that. He said they tried to get RE7 on Switch at one point, but with unsatisfactory results. He clarified any RE games for Switch would likely need to be built ground up using the Switch-compatible RE Engine similar to Monster Hunter Rise.

They were developing RE Revelations 3 for Switch, but scrapped it and used the material for RE Village. But I suspect they’re still going to make RE Revelations 3, it’ll just come later.

@JaxonH Ah ok

If RE7 wasn't doable then I really can't see something like Devil May Cry 5 making it over and that's kind of sad considering how quickly in succession the PS2 trilogy got ported over. They're likely stopping at 4SE it looks like.

@TheFrenchiestFry
Right. But on the bright side, DMC4 is supposed to be coming, probably even this year still. That was leaked by a credible leaker already. I hope the DMC reboot also makes it over after that.

Give us our MH Rise built ground up (along with MH Generations Ultimate), MH Stories 2 ground up, RE Revelations 3 ground up (along with RE0, RE1, RE4, RE5, RE6, RE Revelations 1/2), give us DMC4 and DMC reboot (along with the HD trilogy), we already got Dragons Dogma and Mega Man 11, give us Mega Man X9... and I’d say we’ll be doing pretty good on the Capcom side.

@Ulysses @Magician @EOTW
Thank you all for the lovely responses. They pretty much confirmed what I already thought what the game would be like. Now I'm sure I'm going to play Rise. It sounds like a lot of fun. I guess my first game of 2021 is now locked!

@JaxonH If DmC comes over it better be the Definitive Edition that was released on PS4/Xbox One since PC got screwed over hard on that front. I'd also personally like to see the remaster of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 as well as Ultra Street Fighter IV come over as well on the subject of MT Framework games.

@JaxonH So basically... give us 10-ish more games and we'll be doing pretty good Just joshing. But on that matter, it seems like even if we got every single game you mentioned, Capcom haters still wouldn't be satisfied! Ah well. Despite the faults that both Capcom and Square Enix hold, they inarguably give some of the strongest third-party support for Switch. The most premiere third-party titles made from the ground up for Switch are from both of them now. (DQXIS, Octopath, soon to be Rise, Stories 2 and Bravely Default 2)

@TheFrenchiestFry I understand a lot of DMC and RE fans would love those games before anything else, but for me, I just desperately want to see Megaman Legends 3 with RE Engine. Imagine it looking as good as Stories 2...

So do you guys think we'll have multiple camps within the maps? Or will it be a single camp like the OG games?

Either way, it doesnt seem like those pterodactyls are in the game for fast travel. Seems we'll be using our palamute for traversing the map quickly. And that likely means that, while the maps are big and open, they might not be quite as big as the World maps (which would make sense given less powerful hardware also). This would eliminate the need for multiple camps and fast travel. A palamute that can run fast along with wire bugs that let you climb mountains could suffice.

Also, it seems mantles won't be returning either, and I think that's a good thing. They were too OP, they hid your hunter's fashionable look.

Above all, I hope you cant restock potions indefinitely at camp. That broke the game in World. It may be mitigated without fast travel making it incredibly easy to go back and restock, so if there isnt fast travel, that is at least some comfort, but ya. I really disliked Infinite potion restocking with fast travel to do it. I liked preparing for hunts and having a limit for what you could bring into the hunt. Otherwise a noob could take 50 min to down a monster because they keep fast traveling and restocking. It's better when they run out of potions and cart. Let people hit a wall if they're under prepared skill wise or armor wise.

@Ulysses

Actually we already have most the games I listed, or they've been confirmed. And DMC4 and Mega Man X9 are already leaked as coming to Switch, so they're basically a lock. The only other ones I mentioned was DMC reboot and RE Revelations 3, and RE Revelations 3 is highly likely to release at some point. So we're not quite 10 games away, more like 2 (provided the leaked games come to fruition, which they will).

@JaxonH I understand the mentality of DMC4 SE and Mega Man X9 given how well Legacy Collection and the DMC ports did but I had no idea they were already leaked? Were they rated at all or was it that Golem Dusk guy?

@JaxonH Oh I see! I'll have to do more research next time

Is X9 going to be a brand new title? That would be very cool to see!

As far as World mechanics go, I think we'll have to prepare ourselves to see a lot, if not most, of the conveniences brought over from World. For instance, from one of the clips you can see him briefly run past a vigor wasp.

In fact... I'm betting those glowing bugs at the top of the mountain peak from another clip might indicate that wirebugs are somehow treated similarly like clutch claw ammo. Wirebugs zip around the player in odd ways after each use in the clips, almost like they're flying or fading away.

Making wirebug usage limited, akin to clutch claw ammo, might be a way to balance it to prevent 24/7 wirebug dodging in combat.

But we'll have to see! Just like with mantles, Capcom showed so little that we'll just have to wait for TGS live gameplay to get a better glimpse at what exactly they're bringing over.

But yes, I'm also hoping that they pull back on a few of World's additions like mantles and fast-travel in Rise. A lot of conveniences World gave for PS4 Mainstreamuals made the game feel more arcade-y and less immersive like the other games, like how each tool was limited and had to be crafted from something. It hit home the idea that nothing came for free in the Monster Hunter world. (I call them Mainstreamuals because they're not exactly Wii-era Casuals, but yes, basically PS4 casuals)

Someone else, but they're rock solid. Same person who leaked DMC HD Collection.

@Ulysses
Agreed about the wire bugs. I thought same thing seeing those 3 different colored glowing bugs which apparently restock the wire bug. Not sure what the 3 colors mean though.

I'm also 100% down with vigorwasps. I liked most of the changes in World. Theres just a few specific ones I think maybe didnt work out as well as intended. Still, even if the game is identical to World in every respect, World is still a great game and the positives far outweigh any negatives. So either way I'm super hyped. But, if they can tweak and make a few changes to improve further... even better.

My biggest hope would be for activated skill thresholds with negative skills again. I loved strategizing how to to get a skill to activate, and gemming out the negatives. But to do that you really need craftable decorations rather than RNG decorations. So I hope that goes back to the old approach as well. Let talismans be RNG instead. But again, even if they dont revert back to the old style, I can live with it.

@Ulysses one doesn't read rumors clearly from the posting. Did you remember there was Switch updated version that alot of Switch owners switched to. Obviously you don't read or keep up to date what's happening with Switch innovations. Otherwise you would know what's happening now with Switch developments. The next model isn't going to be this:

modest Switch Pro ala N3DS upgrade — This is failing thinking...

This is trolling wishful thinking they already did that with the 2nd Switch update if you followed the news of past. The next upgrade will be a more powerful Switch aka Pro or Switch 2.0HD model. And your lack of history of Switch and 3DS XL history shows this.

This post is oddly aggressive. We don’t know for sure if a new Switch is coming. It’s likely, but we don’t know for sure. And if it comes, we don’t know to what extend the upgrade will be. Nintendo’s research into tech could be for the next generation, and this upgrade is indeed just a modest boost like New 3DS. We just don’t know. There’s reasonable evidence to assume either case is equally likely.

And because we don’t know, all speculation is fair game right now until we hear more.

@JaxonH Unfortunately Switchforce is likely projecting, as he's the one who contains TrollingThinkingTM based on his other posts in past articles. I don't pay him much mind anymore.

But back to your other post, you make some good points, and I agree about missing skill thresholds with negative skill points. It gave more depth to stat building, and World's system seemed a bit too simplified for newcomers.

On that note, I just want to go back to Gunners having stat building in the first place! World just threw the majority of Gunner skills into bowgun customization, with only a select few dedicated Gunner skills left to utilize on armor pieces. This, along with throwing evade distance and autoload into HBG's turned the weapon class into 110% inarguable easy mode. I've been a hardcore gunner since watching MHG's intro, and I just avoided gunning like the plague in World because I was so turned off by the changes.

@Varkster You might've hit the nail on the head there; since the mechanics of the two games are different in some respects, that in part influences people's attitudes. MH, from what I've read, definitely has more of a community aspect that's beneficial to all.

I don't really get the elitist and/or toxic mindsets with some fanbases in general. People play games for different reasons and have different tolerance, skill, and affinity levels for different games/genres. I really wish it was in more peoples' natures to help build others up instead of tear them down.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

@Tyranexx Come to think of it, this mindset really isn't limited to Dark Souls. Many competitive games out there have this kind of toxic backlash if you do bad. Games like CS:GO, League, Valorant, etc.. all of these games you have to play with patience of steel because if you do bad, oh boy.
