Topic: Monster Hunter Rise

Honestly they could make Gobul work, especially now that I've seen how the piscenes in World worked. Even his iconic vacuum attack could still work. lol

Anyways I don't know anymore about the maps, if anything bring back one of the maps from World. Wildspire or the vale would be fine with me.

But yeah, now I'm just curious about the Rampage now. Someone pointed out that it could be like a tower defense mode. Tower Defense...in Monster Hunter, I'd be fine with that. Especially if they end up doing something like a survival/endless mode where each weave gets stronger or something. lol

Has there been any mention of the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise demo allowing for online play? I'm glad I caught the trailer during the TGAs; plenty of eye candy there. And moreso earlier in the thread! This one's still on my radar for sure.

Yeah it'll have online, but of course you need NSO to use it I think.

The Monster Hunter World demo on PS4 was only available to PS+ members- you HAD to be an online member to play the demo. Then later, they released a demo everyone could play just before release. But you still needed PS+ to hunt online with others. And it was timed for a weekend only.

This is essentially the same thing, except no online requirement to play the demo, only for online.

I like how everyone is complaining that this is Nintendo's fault because it's a limited time thing. lol

It’s Capcom’s game, and it’s the exact same thing they did for Monster Hunter World. It’s essentially a beta.

Anyways yeah...I really want to know more about this Rampage thing now. Especially if in game/or the expansion they really do a survival/endless mode. Would be fun to try and see how many waves of monsters you can last before you faint 3 times or whatever you're guarding goes down or something.

Yikes. While that’s a cool concept, I don’t think it would work out very well. Given the length it takes to hunt even a single monster, a horde mode could last literal hours. Unless they did it to where you only have to drive them off, and there’s 5 back to back with say, 30% health each. But it wouldn’t be an endless thing.

I think it’s just part of the storyline, not so much a mode or mechanic. There will be a final showdown where you drive off Magdamalo, I imagine.

Man... this game looks so insanely good, in every sense one could mean. Graphically it’s stunning. I’ve seen PS4 games that didn’t look this good. Screenshots look remarkably similar to World. Design wise, it’s breathtaking. Kamura Village is so colorful and full of life, and they’re actually letting us ride palamutes in the village and use wirebugs. Mechanically, it’s incredibly impressive. The game looks so smooth like World, but improved in just about every aspect. THIS is the AAA Monster Hunter I’ve been waiting for. THIS is the MH game of my dreams. Not to disparage World, not at all- that game is spectacular, but... this is the old school flavor as a AAA portable hybrid console entry that can be played both on the TV with graphics WAY beyond the capabilities of 7th gen consoles, or as an HD handheld MH game that, visually speaking, is beyond my wildest dreams for what a portable MH could look like.

Honestly I figured their health would be lowered like in those multi-monster arena hunts, only in late waves or something is where their health and attack would increase or something. Eventually bypassing their normal health and all that.

But yeah, a youtuber said it could be similar to a tower defense mode, so that's what came to my mind. lol

Yeah, I didn't figure that the demo itself would require online connectivity. I was mainly curious if you could play with others during the demo. _{Namely because I still don't have NSO....Hopefully next month.}

A monster horde mode would be awesome! As long as it also wasn't too time-consuming as mentioned.

@JaxonH Horde modes are usually hours like a typical horde mode match in the Gears games is like 2-3 hours. A solution for being very time consuming became present for Gears 5 earlier this year where "Horde Frenzy" was introduced and is 12 waves instead of 50 so matches are closer to 30 minutes. Would be cool to have both a short and long option if MH Rise gets a horde mode.

I don’t think it will. Because you’d have to change it depending on the strength of the player, which changes throughout the game.

In fact I’m 99% certain there is going to be no such mode in this game. Set expectations accordingly. Rampage is part of the story plot. There will be sieges, just like in every other game, except staged around defending Kamura. How prevalent or frequent they will be, who can say.

I do think it’s an interesting idea though, but practically speaking it would never work as it’s own mode. At best, they add defending Kamura into the arena as a special type of quest.

Check out the new cohoots, a play on “cohort”... I love their linguistic cleverness in naming things in the MH universe. And, I love owls!

...Like I said, end-game stuff for high/master/g rank, lol. We'll see what happens with this Rampage thing, but these are just ideas I'm having. I still think it would be interesting to have a survival/endless quest to see how long you can last against countless waves.

That could actually work. Again, do I think they will? No. But I like the idea. It would add to the end game, and give players something to strive for after the final boss is complete.

Yeah, and like I said as you continue through endless the waves get stronger and monsters would probably get so much attack/health buffs to the point where even 4 players would struggle to protect the fort or something. lol

I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a video game in my entire life.

I spent half the day just re-watching the game awards trailer and browsing the MH Reddit. I genuinely think this will be my favorite video game of all time, of all the games I’ve played in the past 30 years since I first picked up Mega Man 3 on the NES. This is the one.... this is it. The video game to end all video games.

I’m beside myself with hype. If you own a Nintendo Switch, God has blessed you, as you are now one of the favored chosen who will get to experience the video game of all video games. The pinnacle of the medium. Let us pour one out for the pitiable souls without a Switch who will not have the privilege of partaking in this momentous tour de force.

The flooded Forest reveal kinda got me even more excited, like, I always dreamed old maps being remade like this. Of course the Sandy Plains was on the top of my list, but Flooded Forest was probably up next. It makes me wished they would do more, but at the same time I want new maps. (and maybe a map or two from World, lol)

I don’t want maps from World. They followed a different design ethos, and they won’t feel fresh because I literally just spent hundreds of hours in them.

But redesigned old maps? Yes please. I also dreamed of old maps being remade, but never actually thought they’d be able to pull it off. All the old maps need to be remade now. Not in one single game, but over time, over the next several games, until they’re all remade into singular areas. Of course, I want new maps too. They can strike a balance of mostly new maps with one or two older ones reimagined.

Honestly a lot of maps in World I don't care for, but with small adjustments I'd be fine with Wildspire and the Vale. I kinda figured this would happen anyways like the Portable team usually did in past games. If it doesn't happen, ah well, but if more remade maps happen...Sandy Plains next, please! xD

Oh my gosh, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to function until March waiting on this game!

The demo in January will help... a little, but it’s going to be bittersweet waiting for another 2 months after to play again. At least Atelier Ryza 2, Persona 5 Strikers, Bravely Default 2 and Mario 3D World will help distract for the final stretch after the demo, but man. I’m going nuts waiting on this game.
