@JaxonH I'm guessing 540p is still going to be the target resolution for this game when the Switch is undocked, as that seems to be the sweet spot for demanding third party releases on the system.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
Perhaps, but if it is, it wont be with dynamic res drops. That said, I'm expecting more. Capcom always goes hard on graphics without sacrificing resolution, and I have yet to play a Capcom game on Switch that didnt hit 720p in handheld mode (pretty sure, anyway,).
Either way, its gonna look gorgeous in handheld mode.
@JaxonH Oh, sure. Especially on Switch Lite. At this point, I'm just becoming more used to the inherent limitations of the technology. Not even all of Nintendo's games hit native res on the system these days (putting aside Xenoblade DE, which is a gimme, frankly, The Origami King is subnative in handheld mode as well), and this is considerably more detailed than any of Capcom's previous efforts, which are 90% last gen games anyway. Also worth mentioning that Dragon's Dogma runs at 576p in handheld mode.
@Joeynator3000 LOL If it can't even hit 540p docked, then the game is doomed in handheld mode. Only big game I recall not even hitting 720p on the TV is Yoshi's Crafted World, and that's so laden with post-processing effects that it's difficult to determine how low-res the game is anyway.
@Ralizah
Huh. Well, all I know is Dragon's Dogma looked excellent in handheld mode, so frankly the numbers don't really mean much. I've seen 540p games in handheld that looked crazy blurry, and I've seen others that were indistinguishable from 720p. Which indicates to me there's more variables that factor in than just raw resolution.
At the end of the day, this game is going to look drop dead gorgeous on Switch Lite, far more so than a port of World could have ever hoped to achieve.

I love the new glow up for Great Wroggie. He was always so paper thin in previous games- an overhead slash with the long sword was like trying to cut a sheet of paper from the side. Now he has some nice girthy width about him. And the detail is just muah! But so is Royal Sponge Lizard. They all look fantastic.
Somnacanth just looks straight devious... almost like Gollum. Has that “I’m plotting and scheming to murder you” kind of look in her eye.

Yep. So many people focusing on numbers and specs when all that matter is how a game actually looks.
@Mountain_Man
What gets me is people who watch actual gameplay footage on YouTube, then ask “what resolution is it running at?”
Like... dude. You’re literally looking at it with your own two eyes. Judging how it actually looks by looking at it is THE best method of determination you can make as to How... It... Looks. But you’d rather hear a number so you can associate “good” or “bad” to it, and shape your opinion based on that in spite of the evidence staring you right in the face.
I’ve literally seen people praising a game for how good it looks in handheld, then they hear “540p” and suddenly do an about face as their perspective becomes tainted, and start saying how disappointing it is. And it’s not just the numbers, it’s also what influencers tell them. Digital Foundry literally shapes the opinions of thousands of people. The game could run like complete hogwash, but if DF says it’s a technical marvel, people use that line to justify arguing how good it looks. Likewise, a game could actually be a technical marvel AND look amazing (Overwatch on Switch- looks STUNNING, a gold standard of what Switch ports should strive to achieve) but if DF gets a bug up their butt and says how disappointing it is, suddenly the community hive mind says how it’s a “hard pass”, despite the evidence of a spectacular port right in front of them. They don’t want to form their own opinions, they want to be told what to think, and when they do actually form opinions, they do so based on spec sheet categorization rather than what those spec sheets actually represent- how the game ACTUALLY looks to the human eye and ACTUALLY feels to play.
Doom Eternal on Switch Lite feels as smooth as many 60fps games I’ve played- maybe it’s because of the smaller screen, maybe it’s due to some kind of blur effect, maybe it’s due to low variance in frame rate dispersion, maybe a combination of all the above... who knows, but it FEELS smooth as a kiwi’s midsection, yet you’ll hear how “unplayable” it is from countless people who haven’t played it.
-rant over, sorry bout that. Guess I just had a few things to get off my chest 😉
@Joeynator3000
Not too familiar with his move set. I don’t think they’d give him new moves? But I could be wrong.

....I'm gonna not bother with them, but I'm not surprised that more World monsters are returning anyways. I am wondering what they're going to do with Bazel, though.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
A lot of Nintendo only MH fans who haven’t experienced any World monsters, so I can appreciate the heavy dose. Plus, they’re good monsters. Lord knows I’ve hunted the old world monsters to near extinction so, it’s fine by me.
It’ll be a solid mix of new world, old world and brand new monsters.
