Tried out the Sunbreak demo so I could get the bonus items in the actual game. Switch skill swap should be pretty useful on long sword. I should check out the hunting horn and see if they added anything decent to that.
The Astalos fight was pretty cool, although I think I'm gonna leave the Malzeno fight for the full game.
I only fought demo Malzeno once, I'm not gonna bother since flagship fights in demos were always buffed up unfairly on top of the 15 time limit and "meh" equipment.

Not sure I have ever played a MH game on launch, what is the launch day server experience like?

I don't typically play MH online on day one so I wouldn't know. Usually I'm just concentrated on doing the single player quests for the first week or so.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I usually just stay offline in general...>.<
Besides World/IB...hated that some monsters/quests basically required multiplayer. Or most of them is a living nightmare to do alone, and near impossible. >_>

It's past midnight and I didn't get a Switch notification saying the expansion is ready to play, maybe Capcom plans to release it in the afternoon (if I recall correctly they did that with some of the Mega Man games).
If it's going for a midnight release in EST it still has another 4 hours and 16 minutes as of this post.
So some spoiler free reviews and discussions are out now and here's some new stuff I learned:
There's still no investigation system or end game grind. You finish your quests and that's that, just like base Rise.
Rampage slots are basically just a way to gem in rampage skills without having to do rampages, as there are none in Sunbreak.
Master Rank is still easier in this game than previous games, though it seems things start ramping up more in the post game.
Palicoes can teach skills to other Palicoes now!
You now have some sort of temporary fast travel point you can use once in a hunt and that's it.
There's no gathering hub. At all. All
online stuff is taken care of in Elgato.
The new "tempered" equivalent in Sunbreak (I'm assuming it's the Afflicted that the Capcom Twitter account revealed) isn't just ramped up damage numbers like tempered were. Instead the monsters have massively boosted SPEED. imo a very fitting version of this kind of thing since we're so much faster now in general. Monsters can easily combo you to death in those hunts.
@TeeJay Good things to know, I'll temper my expectations then. Still great to have the new content with what is already shown, and not expect a bunch of surprises.
From what I've heard the powered-up monsters this time are more like hybrids of Hypers and Frenzied/4th gen Apex monsters (Bloodblight instead of Frenzy, of course). Seems like they'll have some unique moves and stuff, too...?
I'm so mad lol. Usually I can use phone hotspot internet to unlock new games at work but I hadn't considered that this wouldn't predownload because it's DLC. Gonna wrap up work SUPER early tonight and go straight home.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I have it installed, but it has just gone 8am here in the UK and all my hunting friends are at work, so will need to wait a few hours for lunch to have our first taste.
For anyone who has jumped in already, does it immediately launch into Sunbreak, or do you need to trigger it? Like can I still drop into Kamura and do some stuff without touching the Sunbreak content and getting in front of my friends? I mostly want to check the beards lol as I heard they added new facial hair.

I think I may end up dropping the Charge Blade...I don't know why but this one move for some bizarre reason rarely works fully. (the Axe Hopper and causing an ultimate discharge or whatever) I can't figure it out, rarely it works, other time I just feel like I've wasted time trying to pull it off. As for my favorite feature, "Chainsaw Mode" as I like to call it, is becoming harder to keep up without having to put away the weapon to get away or something. Finding myself having to start it up constantly only to cancel it...
I'm just a bad CB user, just gonna stick with the Glaive and Gunlance now, no idea why I even stopped using the Glaive since it was my main in 4U. lol
Also, I'm still dealing with choppy/laggy video captures when it involves this game. I've no idea why, it's annoying...
