And Sword and Shield shield bash does great stun damage too, I believe. And doesn’t consume sharpness.

But ya. Hammer and Horn are bread and butter blunt. Hammer for KO focused, Horn for Exhaust focus. Though they both can KO, but Horn is a bit more leading toward Exhaust than Hammer.

I am stunning monsters quite a bit with the Charge Blade, though, it's fun. xp

@Joeynator3000 @JaxonH Ok ok But are those weapons good for monsters like barroth? bc his scalp is so hard the break but if charge blade and sword and shield can get the job done, I think I will start with charge blade.

@Northwind Oh ok thanks so what I think i'm going to do bc I have a mangamalo charge blade And it has thunder on it I think, I will water blight it (If I can) making it softer then use a charge blade.

Eh. If you’re going for breaks then you really should have a hammer or Horn (I prefer Horn myself, though hammer is phenomenal in this game).

Charge blade in axe mode can do breaks pretty well, as can Switch Axe (in Sword mode the Switch Axe gets mind’s eye which keeps you from deflecting) but I’d just have a Horn separate from your main weapon. Use the bladed weapon for severing tails and use the Hunting Horn for breaking horns, heads, etc. Every Hunter needs one good weapon of each type.

I switch between Horn, Charge Blade and Switch Axe. The 3 funnest weapons in the game IMO and well rounded to cover just about every situation.

.....annnnnd high rank Zinogre killed me....just got new armor and upgraded it, too...
and people said this was easier than World...pffft...

@Joeynator3000 Ya he is pretty hard, When he charges up I try my best until it goes away or he stops moving after a tail attack.

@JaxonH HMM Ok I will use hunting horn for blunt damage, and I will use my main long sword I still need to find my other mains. Back in world I used great sword but I only ever used it when I'm playing with other people not solo. Well any tips for using charge blade, and maybe switch axe.

I think with some monsters I'm better off just sticking with the Gunlance...having an easier time with Zinogre with that weapon. It's the same deal with Tobi, although Tobi still puts up a fight where in World he kinda just...died...lol

Man So I have joy-con drift on my right joystick but not my Left (Idk it used to drift there but now it doesn't????) Its its not that bad but it sure is annoying wile doing hunts, and I have a switch lite (And yes I have a normal switch I don't use it for playing games I mainly use it for playing games with friends) So I Might just have to use a controller And maybe it will go away.

I'd love to jump online but it's 10:30pm here and I get up at 5am for work.

The weekend is coming though. I'll be down to hunt then if anyone still wants.

I'm just cleaning up the village anyways. Only have 5 more 6-star Quests, 3 more side Quests, the final submarine expansion delivery and I need some Almudron and Magnamalo parts for weapon upgrades. After that it's on to the Hub.

Onto six-star hub missions now. The high-rank Mizutsune urgent quest was... something. It's like fighting a rabid chipmunk that's the size of a house.

....So anyone want to do Apex Rathian with me?....o.o

Captured my first monster yesterday. I had tried a couple of times before without success, but then I realized that your Palico companion will give helpful shoutouts like "Meownster is exhausted! There is a 94% probability of capture!" Don't know if the rewards were any better, but it was still pretty cool.

@Mountain_Man A blue icon appears under the monster's symbol when it's weakened enough to be captured, I believe. There's no guesswork involved.

Capturing them definitely shortens the fight, as you skip the entire final phase of the battle, which is probably why 70% of the people I've been playing with online have been doing that.

I prefer a proper beatdown to the death, but eh.

@Joeynator3000 Na its ok I can still play with ya, I want to do the rampage tree but I need a apex claw. (If I can't reply right away its ok)

I guess there are certain materials you can only get by capturing, but it's dictated by RNG, so you're not guaranteed to get them every time.
