I think them bringing back old maps and reworking them is cool, but I'm actually curious as to where this village is located.. since I imagine they wouldn't just force the hunter to go extremely far away just to hunt a few monsters.

@Spanjard
Really glad to see you're loving it so much. I'm a Tri Ultimate hunter (played MH3U on Wii U) and ya, it's fantastic seeing Sandy Plains and Flooded Forest return, reimagined as an open world map. Sandy Plains is particularly good, and easily my favorite map in the game.

I also want to learn Sword and Shield. It was the first weapon I tried as a noob in MH3U, though I quickly moved on to Long Sword, Dual Blades and Hunting Horn, then in MH4U it was Insect Glaive, then in MHGU it was Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and SwitchAxe, then in World- Charge Blade and Lance. And now in Rise, it's been the new Hunting Horn, Charge Blade and Switch Axe.

But I've been watching tutorials on SnS and it looks like a super fun weapon now. Those silkbind moves and Shield bashes... so tasty! (pun definitely intended)

Sandy Plains was my favorite map in general, also started with Tri. The Plains was also my favorite battle theme, only thing that bugs me that the map here didn't get a remixed theme like the Flooded Forest. TwT

As for the new Flooded Forest, there's only one major problem I have with this map....

There's no rain. lol

@JaxonH It IS super fun! Lol those Shield bashes definitely sold me on the weapon. (Seriously, the sound in this game is just 👌)

But it's a very versatile weapon, you always have options, it's a jack of all trades. You can tire + stun, cut off tails, block all while being very nimble and stylish.
Definitely a recommendation for beginners and I can already see that if you stay with it you can absolutely dominate. This short clip below demonstrates why I love it so much.

Flooded forest ... Seriously? Lol. I just got this game this weekend but I definitely need to check that out!

i did the first easy low rank village Rampage Urgent. It was fun but there were too many ballistas so i had to even it out with a ballista cannon here and a cannonball cannon there.

Plus I had to hire my 2nd Palico to have him as a main fighter cat while my first default palico im leveling up to be the main healer.

that and Im doing a few 3 star Tigrex quests online to stock up on Tigrex mats to make the other low rank Tigrex armor pieces. Earplugs/high grade earplugs have always been my go to armor ability since Freedom Unite and pretty much in Monster Hunter 3 and 4.

Tetradonwhatevver its name its armor is cool but then you realize its the typical armor to use if you want to walka round with more defense. Like that giant toad/frog monster from Monster Hunter 4.

Capcom with those types of monsters you end up wearing their dead flesh and teeth as samurai warriors which was cool at first but now that type of armor is boring to look at

@JaxonH Yeah, I'm not necessarily going to focus on hub stuff yet, but I like having the ability to do hub quests when I need to, and the urgent quest would have messed me out of that.

I got a B-rank in the rampage... somehow. Must not go much lower than B-rank. I've never carted so many times as I did in that mission, lol.

You mentioned Farcasters warp you to the larger arena with the final gate? I didn't know that. I just figured they'd warp me back to the initial camp where you end up after dying. That would've helped with the minute or so it took me to run back to the final gate multiple times.

Thanks for the tip on aiming the ballistas BTW. MUCH easier to hit my targets when I'm zoomed in.

And yeah, Basarios gear is what I'm equipped with too. Zinogre feels... more aggressive than I remember. All of my fights with him have been reasonably challenging. He's the only monster so far who has carted me more than once (and the others were always because I got stupid and greedy and figured I could sneak in a few more hits before healing, whereas the Zinogre carts were because I couldn't get away in time). Do you know if there's a trick to getting him out of his fully-powered-up state, or is it just a matter of waiting a certain period of time?

@Ralizah
Um, so, couple things. First, rampage tips.

Farcaster does take you back to where you start, but there's a shortcut to Area 2 from where you start. The red door posts lead to Area 1, while the yellow door posts to the right of that lead to Area 2. It's way faster to farcast back to base and just run through the yellow door posts. Traveling between Areas directly is ridiculously long.

And glad I could help with the ballista. It's also worth using Y to repel shot any flying monster ASAP to drop them from the sky, and or crag shot them with X in the face (it has to be in the face to stagger them back). Don't waste those shots on anything other than blue or green icon monsters. Unless there's nothing else to shoot and you think you have time to recharge afterward.

As soon as 2nd wave ends, assuming they haven't already broken into Area 2 yet, immediately farcast back to base and run into Area 2. Head straight for the back gate which has a spiked fence in front of it. The installation on the ground in front of the gate, don't set any bombs. You want that one free to use on demand for the limited time villagers like Fugen and Hinoa & Minoto. If you put bombs there, once they blow up there's a timer before you can swap out . Which will certainly result in it not being available the moment the need arises.

Then, on the two platforms in front of the gate, you want to set up 2 auto wyvernfire installations- one on each side of the gate. You have to first manually aim them where you want though. So as soon as you set one up, press A to mount it to aim it where you think the monster will get caught in the beam when busting the gate down. Do the same on the other side so they get caught in crossfire when hitting the final gate.

Then set up your remaining installations on the side wall platforms. Don't bother setting up anything on the middle island platforms because the Apex is just going to bust them apart the moment he arrives anyways.

And that's the ticket to the winning strategy. Make sure you set up a manual ballista near the back by the wyvernfire installations for yourself to use, which also keeps you near the middle installation on the ground in front of the gate, so you can use your Limited Villagers when needed. And it keeps you near the counter gong if needed, and it keeps you near the gate which is where the Apex will end up soon enough anyways.

And any time you see a monster downed with a red arrow over them, drop what you're doing and wiredash over to them and mount them. The #1 weapon you have in your arsenal is the monsters themselves. Use heavy A attacks and systematically take out as many monsters as you can, or go postal on the Apex. Spam heavy A attacks and use B dodges to immediately cancel out afterward and do another. And even after your Finishing Punisher timer bar shows up on screen, try to squeeze another attack or two in before the bar runs out and you press X+A for the finisher.

And lastly, use the dragonator and splitting wyvernshot dragonator if you get the chance. Learn where they're located and where they hit, so that when a monster is in its path you can take advantage. And when the counter signal is fired, get off your Hunting installation and attack with your weapon. You'll always do more damage with your weapon when the counter signal is active. It automatically signals once per round, but you can also manually ring the gong yourself one time per rampage. It doesn't last as long when you initiate it, but it's a clutch tool to have.

As for Zinogre. You can knock him out of charged state by knocking him over. Usually best to just hammer his face as much as possible. This can also knock him out of charging into his state as well, if you hammer his face while he's charging up.

....Still wanna know if Rajang actually invades your hunts or not...so far he just sleeps the entire time and eventually leaves... :/

Kinda makes high rank a bit boring compared to high rank in past games...

Don’t worry. B52 is coming. Probably won’t be until the 2nd title update, but he’s coming. I figure the 1st update will be in 3 weeks, tops. That’ll add the trio of elder dragons (which this game needs), Apex Rathalos and unlocked HR cap. Nice little boost to end game content there.

Then, probably end of May, perhaps mid-June, we’ll see B52 and F15, along with a trio of Apex monsters, and the final form of the end boss with story conclusion.

@JaxonH Thanks, the door tip is helpful.

I've actually been doing most of the other stuff (Wyvernfire installations by gate; using Draganator; riding monsters; etc.), but it was just taking SO long to get back to the second area.

Another thing that helps is using the retreat ammo on flying monsters.

I get the feeling it's a mode primarily designed with co-op in mind.

...I'm gonna laugh if you end up being wrong about this list and we get something completely different instead. lol

EDIT: Anyways...gonna go eat and take a break for a bit, but does anyone want to do a Rampage quest with me? I got Apex Rathian here, and I wanna fight her, but rather not do it alone....

EDIT 2: Ugh, just forget it...-.-

Well, it's not me who would be wrong. I didn't come up with the list.

This was sourced from both data mining and the Capcom ransom leak, both of which have been dead on 100% correct in every single respect thus far. Doesn't mean plans can't change, but even if so, that would just mean both the data mining and Capcom leak turned out to be wrong, not me. I'm just the messenger.

BTW, I would have hopped online but it seems you're no longer in need. Given I only check this site sporadically throughout the day, I'm probably not gonna read posted messages until hours later unless I happen upon one by chance sooner.

That said, I'm still knocking out low rank Quests. It's probably gonna be another week or two before I've moved onto High Rank. I'm sure some others are already tackling HR though.

@Ralizah
Ya, it does feel that way. They're still totally doable solo, but it's way more fun with others. It also helps redirect attention away from you.

Eh, still wouldn't rely on datamining and stuff, because something similar happened to World when it first launched. The list including some monsters that never even showed up at all (Oroshi for example), and then there were ones like Fatalis and alatreon that never showed up until the very end of Iceborne's updates.

Anyways yeah, until Capcom says something themselves I ain't believing anything, although Bazel is kinda expected anyways. Kinda wondering why Jho is being left out, though.

@Joeynator3000
Ya, but it’s not just the datamine. It’s also the data breach. That’s how we knew about Chameleos. That’s also how we knew about Apex Rathalos before it was announced. In fact, that’s how we knew the entire roster of the game before any of them were revealed. That’s how we knew the final boss before it was revealed, too.

So while sure, there are cases of monster parts being data mined that didn’t get put into World, this is a lot more than that. And since we know exactly 5 more monsters, 5 more Apex monsters and one final boss not yet put into the game, 2 of which have been confirmed by Capcom, and the fact they are still saying several more monsters are coming just in the first update alone, there’s only so many monsters left in the list. It would be one thing if they had already released all the title update monsters and then there was something else.

You can believe what you want, obviously- I never think it’s a bad idea to discount the possibility of the unexpected happening. But if we had to boil this down to probabilities and odds, we’re looking at a 95% chance or more of the monsters being correct. So reserve 5% skepticism, but it would be unwise to bet against the 95%.

@TeeJay
Same. My Palamute finally arrived the other day. Only took what, nearly 2 weeks post launch lol? Goodness.

But ya, the amiibo are fire. And after playing the game, I feel particularly fond of them. I love the meow, roar and woof sound bytes that play when you scan them in for the lottery each day. So good. I’m told there are special items you can win in the lottery that you can hang in your room but I’m not sure if that’s only available during a sale, and I’m not sure if that’s only available from purchasing a lottery ticket rather than using the amiibo. I’ve been using 3 Amiibo every single day since release, and I have seen no such wood carvings or wall scrolls in the pot.

Just snapped a pic of the golden squid and giant sea snail, btw. I’m so addicted to the picture mechanic in this game. I have National Geographic quality shots of almost every endemic life, small monster and large monster in the game. But it’s a constant challenge to take even better shots. I feel like that’s one of the most underrated features of Rise. Even just customizing your guild card with your own screenshots now, instead of stock backgrounds, makes it feel a lot more personal. Hanging your screenshots in your room makes it feel a lot more personal. Seeing your own screenshots catalog the monsters and endemic life in your notebook makes it feel a lot more personal. I really do love it.

Also, where’s my bounce bombs? I knew something was missing in that crafting list. Though I suppose with the wirebug it’s not really needed as much anymore, but still. Bounce bombs were awesome. Khezu on ceiling? Bounce bomb. Rathalos in the air? Bounce bomb. Diablos horns too high? Bounce bomb.

@Joeynator3000 I agree I know I'm still in lower rank 5 right now but I'm trying to get better playing solo I mean I want to beat the whole game solo before I go online and the rampage quest suck if your trying to play by yourself.

On that note I went and got all the mangamalo gear and oh boy does it look sick I got it for all my buddy's and for my long sword.

Ok, I've never been too interested in Ninjala, but after seeing this crazy awesome Monster Hunter Rise collab, I may have to check it out.

Irrespective of the game itself, this is one of the coolest Monster Hunter collabs I've ever seen. They even have the amiibo figures in the game you can get! Well done stake animations, Aknosom armor, Rathalos armor, Kamura armor, palico and palamute... ya. This is seriously dope.

@Snatcher
They really do look great. As does the corresponding layered armor sets.
