Great news that it's a follow-up to Fusion. I wonder if we will see evil Chozo, as seen in the hidden artwork from Samus Returns. Also the E.M.M.I robots look a bit like Portal and they are basically robotic SA-X. They are from the federation, so does that mean Samus is a enemy to the federation now? It also concludes the story-arc of the Metroids apparently. I wonder what that means.

They learn to accept their deficiencies and to be happy with their own lives.

Can we assume it’s Mercurystream making this (under supervision)? It looks nice - I heard mixed things about the speed of movement through the Samus Returns but at first sight this looks slick. It also looks very much like a Fusion sequel with lots of climbing/clinging to walls.
I’d totally buy that it’s based on design documents drawn up after Zero Mission for the project that was ultimately canned

I'm pretty certain it is. Partially because that would make sense and also because Mercurystream has not released a new game since 2017 and has only started a new (un-named) project recently.
So, as a relative metroid novice (I've played some Super Metroid, and a little of the NES game, but that's it), I'm LOVING the atmosphere of this game. Combined with the design of the robots, I'm almost getting this Ex Machina, Sci-Fi Psychological Thriller vibe. Considering Ex Machina is one of my favorite movies ever, that's not a bad thing.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
@Octane Pffft. To be more specific, the story and general premise and many gameplay ideas are the same, but development was restarted twice before it was actually finished.
@link3710 Neat. I'm curious if those angry robot dogs were part of the original. And did the trailer feature a Chozo as well? I'm a bit out of the loop with Metroid lore, but I thought they were all dead.
@Octane Yeah, that much was confirmed. The title 'Dread' was picked specifically to refer to Samus' encounters with those 'dogs'. As for the Chozo, you aren't wrong.
Tldr; Samus was raised by Chozo
The Space Pirates (led by Ridley) attacked their homeworld, wiping it out
Chozo are now believed to be extinct.
That said... it's well known that the Chozo formerly had colonies on dozens of worlds. Survivor(s) are not out of the question.
@Octane I wanna say that there was a flashback to a live Chozo from Samus' during Other M from what I've heard... but that's the only game I haven't played lol.
Otherwise? We've seen plenty of statues of Chozos, Chozo technology, Chozo writing and poetry, and even Chozo shaped robots, but never a live Chozo in the present day.
But... if this is really wrapping up the story so far, it kind of makes sense that this is where we might finally see one. Or it might just be another flashback, who knows?
I know most seem to be aboard the BotW hype train, but new 2D Metroid made E3 for me. I'll take a new Metroid over any other series any day.
Cannot wait for this. Aesthetically speaking, being post-Fusion, I'm glad they added the metal and bulk parts back to her suit. I wasn't a fan of the Fusion suit.
The end of an arc could mean anything here. The Prime series is itself it's own arc within the main series. This could provide a definite end to the Chozo (it's pretty vague whether they are actually all dead or if some are in hiding), or the Space Pirates or Adam (I hope he's not in this one at all, though). I can't see it being the definite end to the Metroids and have them actually end the series namesake (even though they have attempted this before and they still keep coming back).
Either way, I am super pumped for this game. This was better than Prime 4, IMO.
@Octane Well, if you've played it you'd know better than me!
@BruceCM Dang, just checked and the Collector's Edition is already sold out here in the US
@Shadowthrone I'm guessing it's not any of those things. The one thing that's remained consistent throughout the four games in question is the Galactic Federation. Given the events of Fusion and the fact that EMMI is a federation robot, I think it's time for the Federation that's going to massively change, if not be dissolved as a result of what occurs here.
