EDIT: How to I get the bliddy spoiler tags to work?
@RalizahI got screwed over by the 4th section repeatedly.
Eventually this (rather ugly) technique saved me from his awful bouncing:
This was what every previous attempt looked like beforehand:
It felt completely unfair. The other rabbits I found much more straightforward. After I realised you can hold Cappy in place to knock off several hats for Rabbit 1, he got much simpler. Girl Rabbit seems pretty straightforward. Poison Rabbit is fine if you keep throwing Cappy at him him when he's spinning around (it stops him covering too much of the centre in slime). But Lanky Rabbit was a real pain for me until I learnt to roll away like cowardly ball.
Does that line up with the things you've found most difficult?
@Maxz Oops, sorry, that was a typo. I meant the "Darker Side of the Moon"
The boss rush wasn't too bad... ESPECIALLY since you can warp back to the Odyssey and heal between fights.
And the stuff you do in this last level isn't necessarily horrendously difficult... it's that every little fatal mistake sends you alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back to the start each time.
@Ralizah Then I have even less of an idea what you could be struggling with. Had more trouble with some moons on Dark Side, specifically the running one you did on that scooter in Metro Kingdom.

@GoldenGamer88 That one's not too bad once you get into a good rhythm. And like I said, it's not that most of the activities are necessarily super hard, it's that the level is reasonably long and, the moment you die, you start back at the beginning.

@Ralizah I don‘t know, these kinds of speed challenges just aren‘t my thing. Once I got used to the jumping in the second part, it wasn‘t all that hard, yeah.
I‘d only go as far as calling that fact a nuisance. I mean, can you imagine how easy it was if they gave you checkpoints? Sure, I did die a bunch due to my panic on the Pokio part but that‘s easy once you take your time.

@Snaplocket Let's get to the point. I feel like its length is the only 'difficulty' it has. The challenge of preserving your health and not to panic when you get to the Pokio you always die at. Having checkpoints in would make the whole thing even more pathetic than it already is. Look, I agree it would make it more enjoyable but beating it wouldn't feel as good.
I think what I would've loved is a marathon through 15 rooms, each themed after one of the kingdoms and its signature transformations. Between each room lies a row of challenging jumps, testing the player's knowledge of Mario's controls. And each fifth room has a very challenging boss battle against one of the game's bosses (the third and last being Bowser obviously) instead of said platforming challenge. After each boss, you get a checkpoint. How does that sound? Seriously, what a wasted potential this final challenge is.

@Ralizah See, I tell ya, works every time. Same with losing streaks in Splatoon lol
@Snaplocket You certainly got a point there. Especially on the enemies part considering the capture ability. Let's just hope for a sequel with a more satisfyingly tough postgame without ridiculous minigames.

@Ralizah Yup. I don't know how far you got into it...but there's one part near the end that's not too hard, but it's right after all the hard stuff, and a single misstep will kill you instantly. I died so many times just trying to get back to that part.
I'm glad they decided to put some difficulty in this game, but why only at the end and why is Darker Side not so much challenging as it is unforgiving? The sequel/dlc needs to bump it up. They've got the mechanics nearly perfect...
EDIT: Oh, an entire, additional page! Sorry if any of this was redundant.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels
@MasterWario At least it's difficult to die during the "thank you" sequence in this game! Have you ever played Super Mario 3D Land? Well, while playing the final level in that game, when I got to the "thank you" sequence, I decided I was supposed to run across the letters instead of riding the little platform across from them. You can probably guess how that turned out. I was so mad!

@Snaplocket That's a reasonable argument, but there is no point in the entirety of this game where you have to performs jumps that you can barely make, or jump across small (dare I say tiny) platforms, other than a few areas in the Luncheon Kingdom and the last few challenges. If you want any of that, you basically have to make the challenge yourself. Which to be fair is possible, but I'm not a speedrunner, so it doesn't appeal to me very much.
And it is a platformer after all. we can afford some difficult platforming sequences. I could probably go on, but the conclusion is I don't think we can say the game is doomed to be easy until we're actually given difficult platforms to jump on.

@Ralizah Oh ha ha. I definitely beat 3d Land, but it's been so long, I can't remember the thank you message. I seem to recall being slightly miffed that you didn't have to platform over it. But then I thought about it, and realized it would feel pretty bad to die at the "thank you". You didn't have to 100% the game with both Mario and Luigi to see it, did you? Cause I didn't do that; I did everything else.

@MasterWario You have to defeat Bowser, complete all the levels as both Mario and Luigi, reach the top of the flag pole in every level, and obtain all of the star coins.

@Ralizah Ah ha, that'd be why I don't remember . Yeah I did everything but Luigi (got 4 stars)...it took enough effort to do everything else. I actually just booted up 3D Land to play a few levels, and hey, this is a neat little game! Oh and look at that, some difficult levels too! The special world still upsets me though. Shadow clones, shadow clones and speedruns everywhere. UGH I can't even... Anyway this is the Odyssey thread.
I may actually try and do a quick impromptu speedrun of Odyssey, because I do want to play the game some more...
EDIT: Oh yeah and did I mention, that toxic level in Dark Side didn't give me much trouble. I died a few times but the backflip tip helped me nail the giant piranha plants pretty easily. Funny, I went through all but one of the rooms in Dark Side before seeing the original rooms, despite having like 600 moons when I went there.

Just started Odyssey yesterday, only played for about an hour but definitely a fun game. Doesn't seem like it will be crazy challenging but a fun play through regardless.
So as I mentioned earlier I am struggling to want to get more moons after completing the main story. This is really a strange game for me because I enjoyed the main story more than any game in a few years yet it was so short I want more. And there is a lot more but I'm finding it dull and unsatisfying to play. I really think they should have moved 25% of the "after game" moons to the main story to make it longer. That seems like a simple way to make it more engaging. At this point I'm considering selling/trading the game in. I'm not sure I will want to come back to chase more moons. Though I'm also considering starting a new game from the beginning and just make myself get double moons before traveling to the next kingdom... or something like that. (Note: I already did get at least 10 extra moons per kingdom before traveling in my first play through).
I get having a challenge in these games but why does Nintendo insist on making it damn near impossible to reach 100 percent with the modern 3D Mario games. Stuck on the Jump Rope Genius Moon can get between 60-80 no higher and i gave up on it because i like my system working vs broken and smashed into a million pieces. The jumps aren't consistent at all when i get into a rhythm the joycons always end up doing one high jump even when i'm pressing it the exact same way. Searched for an easy way to do it basically i'm forced to buy a controller with turbo which is bs. I know others have gotten obviously but not everyone can do this clearly it's an issue. They say listen for the heys but i got background music and sounds nearly drowning out the heys you can't even adjust the audio such a basic function missing from this game really disappointed. Love the game still but i hate this bs that Nintendo puts into all modern 3D Mario games.
@canucksfan989 Fun fact about that "One high jump even though I'm pressing it the exact same way"
That is part of his moveset. Know the Triple Jump? Well at a stand still, Mario can do the first two of those jumps. The higher jump is based on jumping once you land.
