@DTMOF84 Hacks, all hacks, I tell y‘all! I mean, there‘s no way somebody, no matter how good they are, have as much strength in their thumb to pull that off.

Decided to skip Bowser‘s Kingdom and do the other two Moon worlds today. After that, all that‘s left is Bowser and the Mushroom Kingdom (saved the best for last!).

@DTMOF84 using the scooter with a bottle of adderall.

So this morning i got home from work an see someone posted a trick using the scooter. you can control the height of the jump every time, unlike on foot where mario jumps higher every 2nd or 3rd jump.

I got 100 after less than 10 minutes trying, the harder part is accelerating into position.. I was only trying for this like a couple days, I havent really been playing cuz I've been working everyday so I just get home and try a few times then give up but Ive been thinking the past couple days how hilarious it is how worked up some people have been getting about not being able to win lol.

@Tsurii Yes.

I believe one of the talking watering cans mentions it.

Alrighty then, Dark Site and Darker Site cleared (The Final Challenge was easier than some of the Moons out there, like that Speed Run section in Dark Site. Next up, Moon Kingdom!

Remember how I said there wasn't a moon that was rage inducing in this game?

I spoke too soon.

I forget what it's called, but on the dark side of the moon, there's a room that's almost entirely filled with poison. The narrow path to walk on is invisible and can only be seen when piranha plants spit poison on it. Oh, yeah: piranha plants are dotted all along the path. At the end, there are four giant piranha plants you have to jump on (I only managed it by backflipping onto them just as they move their bodies down to spit poison at me) to get the moon.

I probably lost $300 in the game getting that one moon.

Needless to say, I was done once I finally completed it.

@Tsurii I only knew about it from the e3 Treehouse but was reminded of it by the map details. One watering can mentions it too but I didn't notice that till after I got all the stars in it

People might think I'm childish for my picture, and I am.

@Tsurii I had it spoiled by the Nintendo treehouse...little did I know it was the only "secret area" in the game. Annoying treehouse...

@MasterWario OOOh the one that originally used a motor scooter? yeah that one...yeah. Took a handful of tries. Long jump into a triple jump did it for me.

Well I'm going to assume it's a scooter level because it looks like one, but lol, I haven't actually found the original yet. (Or perhaps I just forgot)

@Ralizah There's another crazy one, which I'm actually talking about right above, so I'd be curious to hear how you do, it's a bit wild. I haven't tried the one you're referring to yet (saw it though), so maybe it will be worse, ha ha.

@Maxz I got to sub 2000 but I couldn't quite catch ya. If the fastest strat involves that blue mushroom, I'll be really upset.

I am a bit miffed at some of these fastest times; I have no idea how, for example, people are 8 seconds faster than me on the Seaside Kingdom race...I can understand 2 sec or 4 sec, but 8? There must be some way to go faster I'm not seeing. Maybe you need 2-player or motion controls?

Ok, I can understand how people get annoyed with volleyball, in part because it takes *so*long to get to full speed, and then once you are full speed, sometimes the shot is too far away for Mario to hit and you have to use Cappy. So one little mis-throw and you're done. At least you can spike that snail right in the face to speed things up a little, ha ha. Take that you darn snail!

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

@MasterWario You're referring the level with the P-Switches that's like the one where you have to ride the scooter, except this time you don't have a vehicle and just have to get to the next P-switch really fast on foot? Or something different?

@MasterWario 5 tries. Lots and lots of long jumping. After the first try I spent 10 minutes or so looking around for a hidden scooter before I realized you really were meant to just run the whole thing on foot!

@Ralizah Only five tries?! Wow, nice! Took me like 35! (Part 2 seemed impossible for a bit) I guess I have to go try that poison room now...

@MasterWario I barely made it to the end on my last attempt, though. You know when you jump and there's that moment where you're not sure if you're going to bounce off the edge? Yeah...

Good luck! That room was a total nightmare for me.

Is anyone else finding the game feels closer to the Lego games rather than Super Mario 64?

Close to just my 350th Moon. Going back through the worlds collecting the second round of moons before going to the new places. Although skipping for now any Moons I find not fun to collect, like the pigeon in New Donk City or the jump rope.

Developed a dislike for the shiney racing koopa.

Although have fallen for the voice of the female hat being's voices in the shops.

@jump Not in the slightest, actually. Not any lego games I've played.

Any lego games I've played have not been very engaging experiences. Lego people move like logs, levels are linear and based on discovery and building. By contrast, Mario's moves are smooth and agile, and levels are sandboxes and based on platforming... and maybe a bit of hide and seek, but in a different way than the Lego games do. I can't think of anything more different, honestly. Perhaps something cerebral based on strategy or logic?

Got married.

The final Koopa Race finally over and done with ... Phew! You know, the last few weren‘t so bad, easy I‘d even dare to say. Maybe they did actually help me improve my platforming skill? Well, that or the fact I found out that shaking the Joy-Con while rolling speeds you up more reliably than trying to do so by pressing Y. Should‘ve known that for that speed run section on Dark Moon!

Finally 100%ed Odyssey with all 999 Moons, all music tracks, captures, souvenirs and regional coins. Even bothered to get my coin counter to 9999 (only to beat the secret final boss, which is just a more difficult version of Bowser, die and lose 10 coins, lol). I gotta say that ]hidden ending isn‘t even an ending at all all it does is put a hideous top hat on top of Peach‘s Castle.

All in all, an enjoyable experience that‘s too easy on the platforming department and I could‘ve done without most of the minigames, most notably the Jump Rope and Picture Match challenges. Still disappointed about the option of buying more than one moon at Crazy Caps.

Finally finished Odyssey!

.....

So, you're probably curious about what I think about the ending, so here goes!

First off, what EVEN was that ending about? I certainly didn't expect a Bowser's Inside Story: Part II! That was a pretty epic finale, although not as epic as Galaxy's or even 3D Land's. It is, arguably, the most clever ending in all of the Mario series, though. Who would've thought that it would be Mario possessing Bowser and fleeing alongside Peach?
Now for the main part: that scene JUST BEFORE the credits roll has to one of the best ending scenes ever. Sure, it was probably underdeveloped and maybe even rushed, but it was freakin' hilarious! Like, I can't stop laughing when I see Mario and Bowser's faces after Peach says "no" (or "enough," we'll probably never know) to them. It's especially hilarious to see such rejection on Mario's face. Although, I really wished Mario and Peach tied the knot on the spot, but Bowser just has to be the try-hard in the game...
Anyway, on to the next part of the game after the ending: Peach's Castle. I just gotta say, it looks marvelous in spite of its small size! I didn't explore much as I had to go do some schoolwork, but the colors and textures that gloss over your eyes couldn't be any brighter. And the nostalgia that flooded my head when I jumped into a painting was something else (hearing 64's mission select jingle was the one thing that opened the floodgates). I can't wait to explore more of the post-game content, in all honesty.

Aaaaaaaand.... end of spoilers. Story cut short, this game is a masterpiece. I'm very glad I didn't wait until Christmas to get this game. Just falls short of the brilliance levels of Galaxy/2, but at this point Odyssey probably ranks higher than Sunshine, and I loved that game to death.
Amazing, amazing 8 days of 2017 for me!

God first.
