How could you not like the races? Wut. They are so much fun, at least the two that I played, not to mention I can really put my platforming skills to the test. But then again, I don't get the whole jump rope deal either...

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

For the races I usually just try to copy what the fastest Koopa does unless I see an obviously faster route (Like in the Seaside Kingdom). They usually make a couple of mistakes during the race, even during the second race. The races still stress me out a bit so I try to get them over with ASAP. It does give a nice feeling of accomplishment when you finish them though.

Speaking of things sucking, I absolutely hate that Goomba Puzzle in the Cloud Kingdom. I‘ve already got the full image on my phone while I do it and yet I won‘t ever surpass 68. You‘re supposed to get a score of 80 and I don‘t even get what I could do better. And on top of that, they give you the option of picking up pieces to build Mario - as if this would fool anyone and you always capture them instead of the Goomba pieces. First time I bailed on a kingdom during the post game.

@GoldenGamer88 There's a reason the Mario parts are there. You'll see later.

And then you'll meet the harder versions of these puzzles.

1) Take a screenshot of the picture when the camera goes up in the air but before the pieces get scrambled.

2) Measure how far down a particular body part is from the outer edge of the image both horizontally and vertically in the screenshot capture.

3) Replicate this placement in the actual game.

4) ???

5) Profit!

@GoldenGamer88 How? I got 96 on my first try! There's a second, harder, challenge after that by the way. And one in another Kingdom too I think... So get used to them

Try to line every single piece up perfectly. Don't place it until it's 100% accurate, I used all kinds of measuring devices to get it right.

@Tsurii NDC‘s the easiest by a long mile. Just jump off the building, rush up city hall with the electricity capture to its top and jump from there to the goal.

Just did the puzzle with 88 points - because I looked up a guy doing the same and copied off him. Seriously, it‘s annoying that your pieces disappear on top of everything else!

@Tsurii Yeah, that‘s what I was trying to do but with my obvious lack of platforming skills (never had that in anything, platformer or not) but then I wondered if there wasn‘t an easier way. So I wandered the track outside of a race and remembered the cables going up city hall. It‘s really easy but I also understand the satisfaction of doing it your own way.

Are the moons you can buy at shops different from the moons you find by exploring each kingdom or are they essentially an ingame equivalent of early unlock microtransactions? I've held off buying them at the kingdoms I've visited so far incase it's the latter.

@Grumblevolcano Both. You need them – one from every Kingdom – to complete your Moon list; however, during the end-game you can buy unlimited Moons, anything beyond the one mandatory purchase is essentially a cheap way of speeding up your in game process. So just buy one, you don't need more than that.

Just beat the story. That was an extremely fun final few moments. Now to see what post game content awaits me, since I sort of rushed through the last few kingdoms

They aren't different. Spoiler for post game With enough coin you can buy all 500 moons needed to unlock the final world right from the store, there is even an option to buy 10 at a time so you won't have to click too much, there is also a coin trick where you can gather coins super fast

@Nekoo77 No idea if this unlocks anything, but you can listen to the Japanese version of Jump Up, Superstar on a boombox in the Mushroom Kingdom.

@Nekoo77 Glad it helped! I didn't know it actually unlocked anything. Thought it was just a cool easter egg.

@Snaplocket This is one of the few Mario games I've actually felt compelled to 100%. It's incredibly fun to play, makes collecting all the things as straight-forward as possible by letting you buy hints and giving you complete checklists for everything, and there don't seem to be any infuriating BS moons like some of the shine sprites in Sunshine.

With most games, I'm done the moment the credits roll, but I'm still pretty actively engaged in SMO.

So, I've been playing this game in handheld mode a lot, but I'm surprised how much better it looks docked. The resolution bump and improved shadows really make it look a good deal prettier on the TV. It's not as noticeable in darker levels, but in the seaside kingdom, for example? Night and day.

Also, it seems kind of funny to me that a Mario game has fishing in it when Breath of the Wild didn't (I don't consider throwing bombs in a river to be fishing).
