Smart steering is super helpful; you'll almost never fall off the track unless you get hit with a red shell mid-air or something like that. But be wary: you won't be able to access those shortcuts that venture off the track like the Sweet Mountain donut hole shortcut or the Mario Stadium ramp in the middle of the grass. You will know what I mean. Auto accelerate is also a recommended feature; I cant hold the acceleration button down for the longer tracks sometimes, so focusing on drifting, steering, and aiming my item can have more of my attention while my car moves automatically. Some good features for beginners. You also have the option of standard button controls or motion controls where you move the controller to steer, whichever works for whomever.
Wait, why do we need a Sigurd? I mean signature, jeez.

I noticed something about the wave timings. It's such that 2 waves are released in time for the next PAX tourney (which has tracks chosen from those 2 waves). Waves 1 and 2 released in time for the PAX West 2022 tourney meanwhile waves 3 and 4 released in time for the PAX East 2023 tourney. So waves 5 and 6 may be released in time for the PAX West 2023 tourney.
@JadeKitsune That'd be good, smart steering makes things easier for sure, especially for staying on course. You won't be able to do ultra mini-turbos, though. All up to you in the end.

@MarioLover92 Besides the lack of ultra mini-turbos and possibly getting slurs hurled at me on Reddit (when I posted a video of me winning 1st place and getting hit by a green shell from the 2nd place player while I was using Smart Steering), I think I'll be fine.
1. How do I find out about the shortcuts on each map?
2. I just got my switch finally on Friday. What do you guys use to play Mario Kart with? I been using what came with the Mario day switch but I feel like the buttons are way too small for me hands
At this point, winning an online MK8 deluxe match feels like you won the Super Bowl because anyone that isn’t Japanese doesn’t have a chance in the world.

@grizzgolf I just use the Switch pro controller. It's expensive, sure, but it's really good for many Switch games, and MK8D is no exception. It's also quite a comfortable controller to hold, and I much prefer using that over the joy-cons.

Just played online for the first time last night. I don't know why but I feel like everyone is going a lot faster than me. I mean the people who finish 1st are light years ahead of me.
I honestly already (almost) forget with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I didn't play the game for more than 1 year.
It was a fun game to play, but didn't really capture my attention for long time.
