Back on the topic of no online play with friends, how does joining friends in FIFA 18 work on other systems? If it's the way I think it is, the reason it's not included on Switch is because Nintendo decided to use a smartphone app rather than have that kind of functionality on the Switch itself.
@kobashi100 That's the thing though, why would EA give a feature that makes the Switch version better than say the PS4 version for example. With the cases you've mentioned, they've either been Switch exclusive or the most effort has been put into the Switch version. As for Nintendo themselves, I'm thinking maybe online as a whole is pretty much in beta until the paid online comes out.
@kobashi100 I don't think they can justify not having friends invites if it's a paid service, unless it's the game developer obstructing it. And I can't see why any developer would as it's them who'd lose the sales.

It was on the front page as long as every other story that gets posted on here. Judging by the 274 posts on it, I would say you seem to be one of the few people who didn't see it. I honestly don't know why you feel the need to defend yourself all you had to say was "Thanks for pointing that out, I was wrong and I apologize". And the matter is resolved, why drag it out?

@BLP_Software I feel PS4 Pro and XB1X kind of killed the concept of generations which makes categorizing Switch difficult. It's made even more difficult by the Switch being a hybrid so it's easiest to consider PS4 and XB1 current gen and the Switch not really being in any gen.
@Grumblevolcano Switch is a current console. Its in the current generation of hardware on sale (If anything given its an entirely new product cycle and family, i'd argue its a new generation unto itself but hey ho) so surely it's current gen?
This whole thing is weird. I've noted it elsewhere but people will take whatever they can get with Switch to knock it back down a peg. Remember that "Not as powerful as PS3 or 360" thing going on Twitter? Give em any indication at all, and they'll overshoot wildly XD

There's nothing wrong with saying "compared to current gen consoles". They're not saying Switch is NOT current gen, they're saying "here's a comparison, this one is against current gen, this one is against last gen". Switch has nothing to do with it. Just because Switch is current gen doesn't make the consoles it's being compared to not current gen, and doesn't mean they have to say "compared to current gen consoles which btw also includes Switch". No need. Just saying here's a comparison. What's the comparison against? Current gen consoles.
That all said, Switch is technically 9th gen, and I would consider PS4 Pro/X1X part of 9th gen as well. It's a really odd, irregular console generation. But Switch is a new gaming device which replaced Wii U, which technically makes it the next generation after Wii U.
I'd be ok calling Switch/PS4 Pro/X1X Gen 8.5 as well though.

The game is fun. After a while you forget about everything it doesn't have and lack of graphics. That being said I would love the see the game Supported more buy EA with some free upgrades. Not sure how it's going to sell.... Probably not too well. So this maybe it for us. Enjoy!
Oh dude, I'm an embarrassment on the pitch lol. But I have fun. The amateur difficulty makes you feel better than you really are. And at the end of the day that's the sign of a well-designed video game

In the UK eshop chart, FIFA 18 is currently in third, which - considering it costs £54.99 and is only behind Stardew Valley and Golf Story, the hottest two indies on Switch right now and a quarter of the price - I find pretty promising.

Yea, it's hanging around #8 or so on the US eShop chart, but I have no idea what that really means and how accurate that even is. Maybe we'll hear something solid about sales this week or next.
