I'm really glad I picked this up, it's my first Bethesda game and definitely a fantastic one so far. Haven't even gone into single player yet, that's just how good the online is.
@JaxonH what I noticed about the controller settings was that the joycons and pro controller had different presets, when I matched the joycons to the Pro controller settings it felt so much better and now I won't be taking my pro controller to work with me. Also I've not noticed any frame pacing/rate issues either and I've played quite a bit on the TV
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.

In DOOM, you regenerate life by running straight for it- aggressively diving headfirst into the fray of combat and melee attacking demons.

@JaxonH I just looked up those Kontrol Freek things. I might have to get some too. They look better than the ones I got with my PDP rubber grips. I liked those at first. But my thumbs slip a bit with them still since they aren't flat.
@JaxonH DOOM kind of reminds me of Bloodborne in the way it nudges the player toward an aggressive play-style by tying health regeneration to killing enemies.

Speaking of Bloodborne, we need Dark Souls on Switch. That would be the one. That would definitely be the one.
My brother absolutely loves those games, Bloodborne, Demon Souls, Nioh, even Lords of the Fallen. He's been trying to get me into them for years. I played Dark Souls 3 for about 5-6 hours. But the bosses were just so incredibly difficult- I couldn't imagine how it would even be possible to beat them. And then somehow, by some miracle, I would beat the boss and I would think man... there's no way I could ever do that again. So when I sold off my PS4 collection of multiplats and re-purchased on Xbox One (because no external HDD support at the time) I didn't feel like doing it all over again. So I just stopped playing.
If we get the trilogy on Switch... and a new MH on Switch... I don't think I'll ever make a demand for a third-party game again. Who am I kidding- yes I will, but I'll be extremely happy, let me tell you that!

@JaxonH The emotions I feel once I beat a boss in a Souls game are similar to the emotions I feel when I clear a particularly difficult hunt in MH: pride, exhaustion, and, more than anything, profound relief. I'm not a huge fan of the way the levels are all interconnected, as it's easy for me to get lost in them, but they are fun in a way almost no other game is, and it would be awesome to have Souls on the go. At the very least, I want the first two games, which should have no trouble running on the Switch.
Souls is FromSoft's bread and butter. We know they're releasing something on the Switch, and we also know they were testing Dark Souls 3 on the hardware. It seems pretty unlikely at this point that we won't get some sort of Souls game for the system.

And yeah, that's what my brother would always tell me: you love MH, you would love this. I would be shocked if we don't get Dark Souls 3 or Trilogy on Switch. Had the system and faltered and sales falling off I would have maybe doubted it, since a lot of Wii U games like Crisis and Far Cry were cancelled, but with Switch selling better than ever, and 3rd party games all exceeding expectations, I see no reason they would have canceled those plans.
I suspect they're going to release a trilogy on all systems, and that's why we haven't heard anything. I figure they not only need to give a little time after DS3 released, also they need time to develop and port all three games in a compilation to Switch. Will probably hear something next E3, I imagine.
But as for right now, I'm just thrilled to be playing DOOM. I did just experience those audio issues though. The sound got really quiet all of a sudden and it wasn't until I died and restarted at the checkpoint that it went back to normal. I'm sure they'll patch some of these little issues out soon enough. With a little luck, maybe get the resolution a tad bit sharper as well. How do I beat those enemies with shields though? I kept shooting and shooting in the shield would change colors but I could not break through it. And it was crazy hard trying to strafe around him to shoot around the shield.

@JaxonH The security demons? Try throwing an explosive behind them.
I tried out the game on Switch today. It was a bit awkward, but only because I find aiming to be way easier with gyro and mouse controls. It improved a lot once I played around with the camera sensitivity a bit.

Can only carry one grenade and I used it already lol... Plus if I miss I'm not going to have but one shot anyways.
And ya, it's always a little harder to play an FPS on a handheld. But coming off the back of Vita FPS games, it feels somewhat comparable to a console this time at least. Definitely had to tinker the settings to my liking and it's still something where I have to rely on strafing a lot, and getting a little closer than normal... But it's playable, and fun. I'm just thankful that we have this game so that I can enjoy the thrills of an FPS anywhere. That's a genre Nintendo was not going to give us, so I'm glad Bethesda is bringing not one but two amazing FPS games to Switch. Even if these are the only FPS games we ever see on the consule, I'm OK with that because its two of the best FPS there is, and it's better than not having any.

Definitely looks better docked in full screen to my eyes but doesn't take away from portable mode. Plenty of over the shoulder glances on the train as I chainsaw my way through lol
Just finished the campaign last night, and it was incredible. Also the music in this game is top notch. Time to start playing some multiplayer, if anyone is lookin for someone to play with lemme know.

So the game runs smoother than I anticipated, only twice it dipped with me so far. I am actually really impressed how well it was handled on the system. Owned it on the PC for a while now and will probably play through the campaign casually on normal before replaying it on an intense difficulty this time around.
Ok. So now im playing on nightmare, the level of FPS slowdown considerably occcurs more to the point of almost every encounter, but i guess the dips is still basically the same level as on ultra violence just more frequent. Thats my experience. Playing on handheld, cant test it on the dock since I dont have one since i just borrowed the switch for the weekend
