@diwdiws - Ewwww, that's not good. Was hoping to pick up where I left off on the PC version. Hopefully Panic Button learns a great deal from this cause that sounds bogus, the fidelity of the game has been impressive up to this point.
@OorWullie hmmm just a warning though, playing on the harder difficulties and speed running are the end game of doom. Its not really a long game so the replaybility in arcade mode is key to prolong the experience.
@diwdiws It's around a 15 hour campaign for DOOM if you explore a decent bit, which is REALLY good for a FPS. So, even on just one playthrough, DOOM is a good value.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Ralizah hmm as i remember more like 12 hrs. played it to death on PC, but after the campaign the end game is arcade mode on higher difficulties. If people cant really experience that due to framerate issues, then they are reallygetting a crappy port since they are not going to experience what made Doom so great on other platforms.
@diwdiws Higher difficulty play is fully available in the Switch port, thankfully. A bit of slowdown here and there is unfortunate, but hardly the end of the world.

@Ralizah really? maybe im just crappy using the joypads. but on nightmare for me it really is jarring and affects my aim when suddenly things slow down. Specially since it is a rule that you never stop moving on that diffuclty. Its not really fun when the game known for its fluidity suddenly isnt.
@diwdiws I mean, framerate issues are going to affect people differently. Some people find a game LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE if it has any drops. Others, like me are generally good as long as it targets 30 most of the time.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Ralizah but thats my point, its good if it manages to maintain 30 most of the time. but on higher difficulties it doesnt, I literally experience it almost every fight, I promise you it will affect your aim. Its not like a momentary stutter, no, its like a a succession of a couple of seconds of suddenly going sluggish EVERY MAJOR FIGHT. of course when you thin the enemies it goes away but still.
Maybe this just isn't a good game for you. If you're not enjoying it then it's probably not for you. Nothing wrong with that.
I, however, am having a blast. Just "found the cause" and I just set the Switch in the dock with a big grin on my face ear to ear, from how much fun I'm having.
I better slow my roll here or I'm gonna play this entire game at home and have nothing left for on the go! Maybe I will start a second game on Xbox One X. I wanted to check out the new console anyways and it would give me the perfect excuse, and I wouldn't be progressing in my save file on Switch to the point I finish the game before even take the handheld on the go again.

@JaxonH not sure if your talking to me. But I love Doom. If not I wouldn’t have replayed it on the switch. Thats why im disappointed that playing on the higher diffuclties on switch is not really fun due to framerate issues. Its not merely nitpicking on graphics, fps etc etc it litterally affects my aim due to the stupid slowdowns EVERY SINGLE MAJOR ENCOUNTER.
@diwdiws I'm not too good at FPS and I may not even make it to the final boss but I'll have fun trying haha.
@Ralizah 15 hours sounds good to me, usually when someone says that I can add another 10 hours on for myself. I like to explore and no doubt I'll die a lot. Add on a multiplayer mode that sounds great and I should get plenty out of it.
@JaxonH - Going to side with @diwdiws on this argument mostly. I love Doom and the Switch's accessibility got me going through the campaign once more, which is great. However, slowdowns can probably disengage me on the higher difficulties (which is a shame, cause I am considering the Arcade Mode post campaign). I will say, it SHOULD have been a bit more thoroughly tested on higher difficulties, so if the dips to remain scarce at least. Otherwise, it's been a great game and testament on the Switch.
@diwdiws
It's definitely muddy and has slowdown compared to PC. I played it on my PC with max everything and it was awesome, but I got this copy to play on the go because I love it so much. Just gotta temper your expectations, man - you knew what you were getting into when you bought the Switch version of a pretty technically demanding game.
@OorWullie
Ya, I played Call of Duty BO2 and Titanfall 2 campaigns, and felt they were money well spent just for the single player alone.
DOOM campaign is much longer, and the multiplayer is fantastic fun, and has bots.
I'm not that good at FPS either, but I have so much fun trying, like you say. I have to play on the easiest difficulty and I have to strafe a lot and run forward and away sometimes to help line up my shot (especially in handheld mode where it's harder to aim). But gosh dang if it's not fun.
Have you started playing yet?
@diwdiws
I meant this version of DOOM. If you're not having fun with this version of DOOM, maybe it's not for you.

@JaxonH Not yet, I'm waiting on my mum coming back, she was going by that way so said she'll pick it up for me.
I've been gaming only on Nintendo consoles since the GameCube so the whole FPS craze has kind of passed me by. I played Halo a lot with my mate when it first came out and some Modern Warfare a few years later but since then the only FPS I've played are Goldeneye Wii and one of the Wii Call of Duty's, neither of which were dual analogue. The only dual analogue one I've bought myself was Black Ops 2 on Wii U. On GameCube I had a few FPS though, Timesplitters 2 which I absolutely loved and a couple of Bond games from EA I forget the name of. During the 90's I loved these kind of games though, Doom 32X,Duke Nukem 64 and Goldeneye 64 are the main ones that come to mind.
and with that, my mum just got back and I have Doom in my hands.
Having a really good time with this game. We need more western third party games like this. I just am not having a problem with the graphics at all. Just looks like a good game to me. I can tell some of its faults but they don’t stand out or take away from the experience AT ALL! Digital Foundry is good for some games but I think their analysis takes away from what this game is. If you are a switch owner and are looking for a shooter than this is the game for you. There is nothing else like it on the switch right now. I did my part and supported. I hope it does well.
I get so mad at fan and at writers when they don't see the game for what it is! Why even compare something to a higher powered console? We know the limitations, the fact is if you can play the game whether it's 30 or 60 fps who gives a flying f***
I dont own a PS4 or xbox one, I prefer handheld games, and to be playing this is unbelievable. To me it's perfect, as I don't know any better, but even if I did now play at 60 fps I would still play it on the switch and love it just as much.
Somewhere along the line people have lost the ability to accept things in the context it is given.
@OorWullie
Be sure to report back with your thoughts!
And check out the multiplayer deathmatch with bots (or real people, if that's your thing). I really liked it.
