Taylor has now admitted that she was, in fact, offered $10000 initially, later rising to $15000, to reprise the role.
The $4000 was a later offer for a cameo appearance after Hale had already been selected to replace her. I'm not surprised she was angry about that, but those earlier offers were way above industry average.
I think you can buy the game with a clear conscience now, just in case there was any doubt. There clearly are a lot of issues with pay and working conditions in the video games industry, but I don't think Platinum are dragging the average down.
It's a shame she let her ego go to her head in thinking the franchise was some massive blockbuster and that it's success completely hinged on her, as a VA.
She kept reiterating that "450m franchise" which is telling. I think she mistakenly believes the series is way bigger than it is, and as such miscalculated her value. I truly think that's what happened. It's a shame. How stupid is she going to feel once she realizes the series has barely grossed 100m, on top of which there's a massive difference between total revenue and total profit. After subtracting cost of making the games, cost of porting, cost of paying developers, cost of advertising, cost of Sega getting their cut, Nintendo getting their cut, retailers getting their cut... and needing enough cash flow coming in to invest in future titles and pay their devs... because devs aren't working for free, or on "promise of payment after game release". They require payment UP FRONT, which means they have to make enough profit off the games they release to operate the business for the next 5 years until their next big game releases. It's not as simple as, "oh you made $10m profit on the franchise, cough it up". That 10m has to be used for operating costs and cash flow, which anyone with an inkling of business acumen would understand.
Ah well. Shame her name and legacy is being tarnished like this. But... she has no one to blame for that but herself.
I'm just grateful for all the press and attention it's brought. Everytime she's back in the headlines the Amazon sales ranking starts climbing back up again. Saw it again today where its climbed 6 rankings from the discourse of the last 12 hours.
Guy says performance is excellent docked, and when he played handheld it was just as good. Obviously not counting frames but he says it feels great, no issues to speak of.
Game looks great in handheld. Not the best footage. As the camera picks up the screen door effect a bit. But it's good enough quality to see the game will look gorgeous.

Little bit of a PSA here. I've had bayo3 preodered on Amazon for 4 years and thankfully, still got that sweet 20% discount. However, I noticed that my shipping address and credit card info were both expired, and I had moved. So reminder to go in and change it for anyone who ordered years ago and moved or have an expired card.
I'm completely new to the series and have never played any of the games, so please excuse my stupid question:
But what kind of games are these? Is it a 3D beat'n'up, a hack'n'slash, a single player fighting game, an action RPG? It ist similar to Age of Calamity? The games look interesting, but I can't really understand, what it's all about. Thanks!
Extremely flashy combos, dodging at the last second slows down time, and you get ranked on each part of the chapter (which doesn't affect progression but it does encourage replayability as you go for Pure Platinums, Platinums or at least Golds).
Crazy story, eccentric characters, and progression via Muspelheim challenges unlocked as you go, where you can earn a heart piece. Two heart pieces increases your health. Kind of like Zelda in that respect.
It's easy to learn, as anyone can button mash combos, but hard to master as it takes still to perform specific combos and dodge last second. And there's a LOT of combos. Waaaay more than games like Age of Calamity offer.

@dionysos283 It's a hack and slash but plays more like a fighting game, it's novice friendly so you can button mash to get through until you figure out the game and then start having some real fun. The previous games has some really fun set pieces and bosses. What may put you off is the game is like a b-movie so it's very, VERY corny and cheesy.
@dionysos283, I believe the term is "stylish" action game. Think Devil May Cry, the modern Ninja Gaiden trilogy, the older God of War games, or Astral Chain (also on Switch from the same dev, Platinum Games).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Thanks a lot for your answers!
The games look super interesting. Still not sure, if it's my kind of thing. I'm normally not into combo driven fighting games / hack'n'slashs, etc.
But Bayo 3 looks incredible! I'm definitely keeping my eyes on this game!
Only aspect I disagree with him on is complaining about the game's graphics. I think the environments look fine and are perfectly in line with what you'd expect from Switch. And... he says as much. But because he's primarily a PC/PS/Xbox gamer, he comes at it from a completely different perspective than I do. To him, any game that doesn't match PS5/XSX games are a detriment. To me, they're not. I understand not every game needs to target power platforms. Some games do (most, in fact) but some games target hybrid handheld. And they're not "worse" for it. Imo they're better for it. But that'll come down to individual perspective. Ask someone who doesn't like Switch and they'll say it's a negative. Ask someone who loves Switch and they'll say games built ground up for the system are a positive.

@JaxonH I haven't played the game yet, so whether Bayonetta 3's artistic design is a case of a glass being half empty or a glass half full, I don't know. I think Ralph is just lamenting on how a great game could've been viewed as an all-time classic by anybody and not just Nintendo fans. Either way, I think the review scores add up to Bayo 3 being a candidate for "Action GotY" but perhaps not an overall GotY (regardless of genre) because of the weak aspect of the story. When award season comes around Bayo 3 will probably fall lockstep behind GoW Ragnarok as one of the great games of 2022.
I don't see a game developed ground up for power consoles any more favorably than a non-Switch gamer sees a game that is.
They value power, not hybrid advantage. Most Switch gamers value hybrid advantage over power.
You can only fully satisfy one at the expense of the other.
could have been viewed as an all time classic by anybody
It wouldn't have, though. It would have been viewed as an all time classic to those who love power consoles, but to hybrid handheld gamers it would have fallen severely short as yet another TV tethered game. So ya. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
Problem is those who favor TV tethered power consoles are extremely self centered. Despite the majority of games targeting their preferences they still get bent out of shape when even one game happens to cater to the other 120 million gamers with different preferences. They'd be perfectly content seeing Switch robbed of every exclusive it has, whereas most Switch gamers don't feel that way in turn. We understand not every game has to target us, and for the most part are happy just getting quality ports that don't detract from other versions.
@JaxonH They don't really value power. If they did, they wouldn't have played games like Fallout 4 at 25fps on their home consoles. I've been seeing XSX owners talk about how amazing it is to FINALLY experience Skyrim at 60fps when that was how I experienced in on PC back in 2011.
Many power console-primary gamers are people who stick to one platform every generation, and as such have a distorted view of the wider industry and what constitutes reasonable expectations for different platforms. I'm sure some Nintendo fans do as well, but I've noticed it seems to be far more the norm with, say, Playstation loyalists.
