@OorWullie That hand comes at you twice and on killing it each time it drops several of the point tokens. You'll pass 500, 000 once you beat them for sure. Problem is, I then alway die on the final (well, I think it is the final form?) of the next boss that appears 😱

Love this game and the patch has made it even more brilliant than it already was.

@OorWullie nice one mate. Have to get back myself to Steredenn, it so addictive. Unfortunately between the weekly highscore contest, a little bit of online MP and huge backlog I just can't seem to find the time. So has the new patch landed? Is there a changelog somewhere?

@Lroy with Ayin I always try to dipatch both forms with bombs, the first one is doable even without but the second keeps giving me a hard time. To be honest the whole level with Ayin is a mess to me, I keep dying no matter what right after the beginning, when the big red enemies appear (the one that spreadshoots ALWAYS kills me). Hands are piece of cake in comparison, they only require good positioning and can be easily sliced when they try to approach.

@GFoyle well done mate, 881K is a really good score! Doubt I'll manage to catch you, but let's try at least. Post loop is horrible, I agree. It may depend on the stage you get, I've got forest (man how I hate it...) and got obliterated by shurikens in no time :-/

@OorWullie @RetroGamerAndrew I also need to get back to STEREDENN. Hadn't touched it for a while due to the crash issues. Thrilled the patch is now out. Will likely have a run on it later tonight alternating between dying a lot on TENGAI 😂

Tengai is kicking my ass... Feel like I will have to do some kind of Robert Johnson deal to break 500,000...

@RetroGamerAndrew You got to the second loop? What score did you got? I didn't think from scoring wise my score was anywhere near what you could get from first loop (not sure, but I think it's possible to get twice as much .. at least I did a lot of things just to survive just to get there which are not good from score point of view). I also got forest and those same million shurikens (4 per ninja I guess) got me as well.

In general, I'm happy that I got this far in relatively short amount of time. I feel I could play this game for a year and there would be still things to improve just in the in first loop. I don't think I would ever get good enough for the second loop though.

Just had a look at the Tengai scores and so far after an hour or so playing I can proudly claim last place!!!

@GFoyle yes I did, but obtained a measly 822k-something.
Honestly I don't see me improving that much, I'm still struggling too much to survive starting from level 5. And most of the time I still can't achieve perfect level 1 to 4 (whenever I die, which I do often, I'm restarting like a nervous twitch)

@Lroy I can finally have some playtime on this gem tonight, so I should be able to post something. Nowhere near some of the scores though (yet!)

@GrailUK No one here will count you out of a high-score challenge. Best of luck. I think 800,000 is the highest bracket reached so far.

@RetroGamerAndrew Yep the new patch went live 2 days ago. The improved performance is very noticeable. As well as fixing the crashes, the first stage is now a lot more detailed, 3 new backgrounds have been added, it runs smooth on the stages with the asteroids and exploding rocks whereas before it lagged pretty bad, it's 1080p docked and it now has video capture. Here's the full changelog

Here is my screenshot. For some reason my top score got lost from the list after taking this pic yesterday, either there is a bug or it’s related somehow to the fact that then I accidentally was player 2 for some reason. Today I got 870k, close .. I think I’ll improve from this still, maybe, if I have time to play

Made it to stage 1-5 586K with 1 credit today. Progress.

@Lroy Blimey this is a hard game. The orientation of the protagonists is very jarring for me.

The scores are ratcheting up!! Nice to see the competition heat up. I still haven’t hit 800k so I’m pretry sure I’ll finish out of the top 2 or 3, but I’ll give it another go today.

This is a crazy but enjoyable game.

@GrailUK Ha! Ha! It's eaten me for breakfast lunch and dinner. Just when you think you are doing well - KAPOW! Life lost, almost always when you have a stock of bombs too.

@Agent721 If I can manage to finish in the Top 5 this week (my little - casual - personal target for these challenges) I'd be astounded. Then again, at least it isn't DANMAKU UNLIMITED 3. Crikey! That game was hard.

That is the bane of my existence in that game. I try to stock up the bombs so I clear out the bosses quickly, but many times I die before using them, resetting the count.
But if you use them all, and the screen goes crazy with bullets, you’re dead as well.

At least it’s a fairly quick reset to start a new game, unlike some of the others we’ve played.

@Agent721 @GrailUK Interestingly, I've not bothered to reset on TENGAI at all. I just keep going regardless of how well I'm doing. I think that's partly my problem with attaining a high-score. I don't actually know what I should be doing, other than not dying often and early, to better my score?
