@MrCarlos46 Probably feels similar to a vertical mouse - those do feel a bit strange when you first use one.

I wish they would separate system language and game language (some games do so but not all so I would like the option baked into the OS). I dislike having to switch the os settings and reboot if I wanna play in a different language

@Ryu_Niiyama In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate we were able to freely change the language but we had to restart the game. And if we wanted to change the variant of English, French or Spanish used, we had to change system region. For example, setting the region to The Americas will load the game in American English, Canadian French or Latin American Spanish, but setting it to Europe loads up British English, European French or European Spanish.

Now that you bring it up, why haven’t they ever considered it?

In addition to that, I wanna see Nintendo split up the separate variants of English, French, Spanish and Portuguese into separate system language options on Switch 2 like I mentioned a few replies ago.

So do you guys think Nintendo is going to do anything weird gimmicky stuff this time? They always do and I've never really gotten into the, but it's always been interesting. The first switch we got the labo, mario kart augmented racing, arms, and the joycon type of features. Any guesses what they might do? I feel like the mouse isn't just a mouse.

Edit:
I bet they'll make a mario paint game. Maybe combine it with mario maker or something artsy.

I’d guess another light experiment into VR could be possible. One thing which could have been concealed up to this point is some form of motion tracking in the console itself (the lack of which was a barrier to VR on the original Switch).

@JesseA I mean, they literally have a gimmick in the form of the mousecon, so probably something revolving that and the USB port on the top of the console.

@VoidofLight Following the addition of another USB-C port and the fact you can now rotate the Switch 2, someone made some concepts on possible accessories we can see with the Switch 2: https://x.com/switch2stock/status/1891556340285247493?s=46

Normally one would think they could also work with the top USB-C port but there were concerns that the dual screen attachment will block the vents so it was instead made to work with the bottom port.

@MrCarlos46 Make it happen ASAP Nintendo! The Switch 2 definitely needs some form of dual screen gaming, the Switch 1 definitely misses it and we need it back.

I feel like even with a dual screen attachment, you run into issues of it being really flimsy, or issues of the dual screen not being utilized for many games (Similar to the circle pad pro that Nintendo released for the 3DS). It has to be built into the console to get use I feel.

Not to mention the extra weight being added to the console thanks to the dual screen attachment.

Thing is developers only wanna make Switch 2 games for 1 screen so it’s easier to dock when one wants to play on a TV.

Maybe Nintendo will make it for remakes/remasters of 3DS games, especially Tomodachi Life. If that’s where they try to go with the dual screen attachment, the games should at least be priced $39 or $49.

@MrCarlos46 You also run into the issue of the second screen draining the battery life faster as well. I feel like something akin to a camera attachment would be more likely.

MrCarlos46

@VoidofLight A camera attachment would be a good idea for if we wanted to record ourselves playing Nintendo games or video chat with friends akin to Wii U Chat.

@MrCarlos46 Or for AR games and making games like Tomodachi that used a camera.

There would certainly be those drawbacks for a dual screen add-on, but yea, it could just be a semi-niche item for 3DS backwards compatibility games or something. No need to force into the Switch 2 games for the most part. People seem to enjoy buying the retro controllers for NSO already, so why not do something like that for the inevitable DS/3DS stuff?

I think the reality is that we'll see all kinds of attachments for it, but in terms of "mandatory" 1st-party attachments... probably zero, which is fine by me.

Still makes me shudder how people can play retro games without the proper controllers, though lol It's bad enough to play retro games on an HD TV, and now you do it without the proper pad... heathens!

I would argue that chasing controller authenticity for DS/3DS is a bit of a fools errand. It's not like a NES, SNES, N64 or GC controller where it's just a controller. The DS and 3DS were portables, the only way to replicate what those devices were would be to make another portable. If that's the road we want to go down the only solution is a clone console of some kind. Like the Game & Watch collectors editions. This isn't a solvable problem for NSO and Switch 2

To be fair, I don't think it's an issue and I think people keep trying to overthink this. The Switch 2 will be big enough and has enough inputs that it can cover the screen size, screen resolution and inputs that the DS and 3DS had. Easily. DS and 3DS on NSO will work fine with no hardware adjustments. Is it 100% authentic? No. But no accessory is going to close that gap or even slightly improve the experience......

.....except maybe a TATE grip and stylus

The fact they got Miitopia to fit on one screen may also add to it, especially if they do that for a Tomodachi Life remake.

Also wondering the mouse-cons could already be used as the stylus, especially when playing in tabletop or docked mode.

It seems to me like a lot of these ideas people keep coming up with and in some cases doubling down on, like attachments etc for two screen games is more about appeasing their own nostalgia more than anything else. Just like the name not being Super Switch which people were pretty damn sure it would be called and in some cases got angry when it was revealed to be Switch 2.

Could a similar thing be said for themes and UI music on Switch 2?

@skywake
Of course they will just do DS/3DS stuff without a dual screen. That's a no duh.

But they also know they'd make bank releasing a 70-dollar "second screen" for NSO subscribers. That's the only reason why I can see them doing it - they know people would gobble it up just like the other controllers.

@FragRed
Maybe some people, but the flip side is this: If you can't admit they did some pretty darn awesome games during the DS era, I feel bad for your gaming taste. Stuff like World Ends With You is insanely cool, and even things like the Ocarina port is just hands-down the best way to play the game with that sweet inventory management/map at your fingertips.
