Wow, I just found 1 lie about NS2, it said YouTube will have Start Up issue, but it being straightly blocked when launching on NS2 then having Start Up issue aka not being able get actual error when trying to launch instead getting message that they blocked cause it has issues aka I thought we could use it just it will be hard to turn it on and often error when trying to launch...

Can anybody confirm whether "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" cartridges will also work on the Switch 1?

I don't intend to buy a Switch 2 until a themed model (and accessories) are available, so this will influence which version(s) I'll buy going forward. If it's the case that they're cross-compatible, there'd be no need for me to double-dip, which would be great.

Dang, this thing is HUGE. Like, actually massive lol

Right. I was not expecting the weight of it. Going to take a bit of getting used to. Not sure I like it heavier than the Switch really!

Got mine now! In process of moving data, but unsure whether data on SD card (in Switch) goes to Switch 2. Can anyone confirm?

Alright - Got myself a Switch 2 this morning. Stoked!!! It looks beautiful, feel great to hold, the screen is incredible. But - I haven't played a game yet. Why? it is taking FOREVER to download anything. Mario Kart World - I'm 16% through the download - 2.5 hours left! My internet is good, most large games download in about 20 minutes... so I'm guessing the Nintendo servers are getting absolutely slammed?

I can't wait to get started with this new console generation...it's just going to take a little bit of time, I guess.

Got my Walmart delivery at around 6am, so I woke up to my Switch 2 this morning!

First thing I noticed is thing is BIG. Will take some getting used to lol. Completed the system transfer and once the home menu loads up every Switch game I had downloaded on my OLED shows up, and they start to queue up for download. Minor annoyance as I had to go through and cancel the downloads - I have too many games for that!

Anyways, the eShop is a MASSIVE improvement over Switch 1, both in smoothness and options.

Ive played Bravely Default, Tears, Mario Kart and No Mans Sky. So nice to play smooth experiences on the go that are next gen complete.

That said, i have to temper my appreciation of that fact with the multiple serious ways this is a stepback for me.

1. Battery Life is now arriving at the miserable level. Sub 2 hours for Tears of the Kingdom...

2. The ghosting on this LCD is le-terrible! Playing Mario Kart will make this obvious to anyone that pays attention for that sort of thing. Coming from the OLED this made me so sad. We knew the black levels would be a massive step back in spots, but TOTK colors looks positively washed out compared to the OLED due to the LCD.

3. Patchless switch 1 games look way worse on Switch 2, and some are outright awkward looking. Fire Emblem Three Houses on my unit has a issue where the text looks so stretched out as to be hilarious. I now have to keep my oled around, selling it is out of the question now sadly.

There are more niggles, but these are the headliners.

On the plus side...

🥰 eshop runs like liquid gold now!
🥰 playing TOTK at 60fps feels unreal, pokemon is like a different game now.
🥰 the magnetic click lock joycons are a 1000x superior to old joy con tracks
🥰 hd rumble is much improved

It took me 7 hours to setup the console and download Mario Kart World and No Man's Sky. Battery life is not great, but I'm liking Mario Kart so far. It's not as easy as 8 Deluxe, but I'm still learning.

Battery life comments are a concern. I thought this was meant to be much better than the Switch 1 there. I only unplugged it from the charge less than 20 mins ago and it is already down to 95 from 100. That is without playing. Just letting it download bits again.

Not filling me with confidence if this is the best it will ever be.

I agree with a lot of the first impressions I've seen in this thread - I'm really concerned about the battery life. I played about an hour of Breath of the Wild (Switch 2 version) and I went from 88% to 49% (I turned on the 90% charging limit option). I really took the battery life of the OLED for granted. Speaking of, playing BOTW at 60 FPS was nice but does anyone else who has played it feel like there's a lot of "noise" on screen? Like the grass looks really pixelated and ugly and it's pretty distracting. I'll get used to it I guess, but I think maybe that's the upscaler at work?

I'm also worried about the comfort of the device for long sessions. It feels like the device is stabbing into my hands a bit, and my hands and wrists were kind of aching while playing. Could just be a problem with how I'm playing and my posture, but I think the Steam Deck is more comfortable to play.

On the bright side, I like the magnets and how they connect WAY more than the rails on the OG Switch (although I wonder how the magnets are going to hold up long-term), the eShop and UI runs a lot more smoothly and overall I think it's a way more "premium" feeling device. I can't wait to order the OLED or Pro revision that comes out in 3-5 years, haha.

Is anyone elses switch 2 heating up really fast? I do have it downloading things in sleep mode but its really hot to where its fan is going hard

Mana_Knight

@tangeraniummm Yep...I feel a bit sad. It is not easy on the hands at all. It doesn't feel like a handheld to me. It does concern me. I have transfered everything now though.

I think Nintendo still has a good product, i just think im left with a sour taste in my mouth due to how they went around trying to obfuscate things with the press review units. Because now that it turns out there are several significant problems that there is no way Nintendo wasnt aware of.

I mean i have a really good hdr capable tv in my home, but even the hdr implementation seems pretty lousy. I wish i could measure how many Nits it puts out ...

John from DF is trying to figure out why this panel puts out such blurry images during certain bc games like Echoes of Wisdom. This problem will start spreading like fire in hardcore circles the more ppl see how awful backward compatibility is at times:

Hopefully nintendo can iron out some of these things in software and hardware updates...

The weight of it is really going to take me a while to get used to. At least, I hope I can get used to it.

On the plus side, playing a favourite of mine in Yoshi's Story. I think it looks better? Might be my imagination though.

apps and websites crashing last night, lines too long to get a Switch 2 to most people waiting. Everything is sold out today.

And the scalpers are out. The only one I've found for sale today was $800 US + $50 shipping.

No clue when I'll manage to get one at this rate.

First time I've ever tried to get a a console on day 1; is it normally this brutal?

People complaining in this thread and yet I'm sitting here not having anything but positive to say about it. Only played MK so far but the system speed and responsiveness is great. A couple of rounds on battery, a couple on the TV. The battery life was fine I thought

The only thing I'm slightly disappointed about is that I haven't got a case yet and the reports of the dpad on the Pro Controller being great makes me want to buy one of those

Also some of the steps that required me to login, sometimes those failed. But that's to be expected given the load on the servers. Also yes, downloads were taking a while but I checked and it was maxing out my ~105Mbps internets. It's just a lot to download

I'll give a few other games a spin this Arvo. I have a few known pain points in terms of performance on Switch I'll check out. Large flower fields in AC, loading in Hades, Age of Calamity generally. Also have ARMS, Odyssey, TotK and BotW ready to test
