Topic: Nintendo Switch 2

I'm pretty sure Nintendo explicitly said that this works.

It is a compatibility layer not hardware level compatibility, so there will be bugs like this that'll require updates. And I'd assume that's why there are multiple categories of compatibility. But yeah, it's going to be impossible to test all of them exhaustively and some stuff will slip through. It's just going to be a case of whether or not the developer cares to fix it, if Nintendo can update the compatibility layer underneath to fix and if there are enough eyes on it to pick this stuff up

I think it's fair to say though, Nintendo is probably more likely to be ontop of these patches than other publishers/developers. But even so, there's a reason why I'm going to keep my Switch OLED kicking around for a bit

I figured it would. It'll be fun checking out all the settings and doing the whole switch 2 setup thing the first time. I'll probably be tinkering with that before i actually start a game. I gotta find out which other games have free upgrades.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've understood in some games (such as Metroid Prime 4) the face buttons have functions even in mouse mode? So shells like these which partially cover the face buttons wouldn't be very good then.

@Jackpaza0508 If it's DPD it'll be in fairly safe hands. I remember for the PS5 they had us pay for DPD and then went with Yodel IIRC.

@Grumblevolcano I assumed it was just gonna be third party timed exclusives and the odd first party game. Not anything coming to Switch 2.

@FragRed Considering Geoff’s silence surrounding Summer Game Fest, I feel that the platform holder events have the big reveals. Like the last few RE games have been announced in PS events so RE9 gets announced in the State of Play, Silksong is day 1 on Game Pass so it gets a release date in the Xbox showcase, etc.

@Grumblevolcano Yeah that sounds about right. Still not sure we will get too many Switch 2 reveals even if the games are coming to the console. Definitely think Nintendo will want to announce them in their own Direct instead.

@FragRed I think it would be an indicator for whether there is a Direct soon. If 3rd parties announce a load of games for Switch 2 this week then that suggests at most we’d be getting a DK Bananza or Prime 4 Direct in June.

@Grumblevolcano That’s a good point. Next two or three days will be telling as to whether we get a Direct or not.

I should start a thread discussing how long it'll be until I can just casually stroll into a Best Buy or Target, not wait in a line, and walk out with a Switch 2 with zero friction.

I didn't get a PS5 until the slim model arrived three years after launch.

So honestly, do I even need to do a system transfer from my OLED to my Switch 2 tonight? I have my save data cloud with NSO, and all my games are physical. I don’t have any screenshots or videos.

You do need to do it for some of the games that lack cloud saves. Although not Animal Crossing because it has a seperate island transfer tool. But other than that I don't think there's much need for it
