Topic: Nintendo Switch 2

I loaded up every game I own to record the playtime in case it gets lost and wow, I forgot how bad the loading time is for some of them. I look forward to comparing with Switch 2.

Amusingly I've also gone slightly more "keep the Switch OLED going" in the last few days. I had planned to unplug my Switch dock entirely and just keep it on-hand if I happened to want to use it. Maybe put the dock in the other room or something or just having it sit in its case on the shelf

But I did a bit of furniture moving which turned into network gear restructure. And after moving my wireless access point I found myself with a spare ethernet socket behind the TV. Made me pause for a second, seems like a waste to not use that now spare socket doesn't it? So I ran a ethernet and HDMI cables to a space I cleared in my cabinet next to my Switch OLED dock..... which will stay.... with the Switch 2 living beside it.....

So close now! Tom pettys the waiting is playing in my head right now! Can't wait to get that first wiff of new game system smell! Might just pull an all nighter on launch night. 😊

@VoidofLight But could it still be bricked for connecting and trying to update ahead of June 5?

Just got an SMS from JB HiFi reminding me of my pre-order and telling me when the shop will be open on Thursday. Getting close now!

Just got confirmation that my switch 2 has shipped from Bestbuy! JOYGASM!

@Truegamer79 I still haven't gotten anything on the charge going through from Bestbuy- but I'm also picking my order up at the store so I dunno.

Push Square reported that there’s a State of Play happening tomorrow (2pm pacific, 5pm eastern, 10pm UK). As the Switch 2 would be out in some territories already (e.g. Japan, Australia, some of Europe), we may see some 3rd party Switch 2 announcements.

Yea, I'm gonna keep my Lite at the ready, but my OLED and its dock are going into the deep freeze.

But months ago I thought I was gonna just pack away all my original Switch games, but with all the backwards compatibility upgrades and all-around load improvements and stuff... I may just keep them at hand, as well.

It really does seem like Nintendo wants the original Switch to retain a place in this ecosystem. And with the increased size of the Switch 2, my Lite is handily (ha) going to remain my go-to option for portability for anything that is playable on both.

Just wanna ask when I get My NS2 on June 5th or it could be late up to 2 days can I put My Micro SD Express before turning on first time aka before doing day 1 patch aka will it not break My Micro SD Express?! Asking, because I plan do full system transfer, so!

They charged my account finally! I'll be getting my unit tomorrow night!

There’s more updates for Switch 2 preparation than the ones that were announced previously, games that weren’t in the list but got updates are:

GameStop almost got me. They are releasing the switch 2 at 9PM tomorrow night. But I realized I still don’t wanna be out there at night picking up a system lol. Gonna roll in after I finish my client onsite Thursday as I have PTO.

Sounds like at least some of these are Switch 2 compatibility updates. Eg Pikmin 3 has this in the patch notes:

The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:
Partially alleviated an issue that occurs when playing on Nintendo Switch 2 where the entire screen flickers during some scenes in the game, such as when a day starts and ends. We will be releasing an update in the near feature to fix this completely.

Note: An update addressing the problem above has not been distributed for “Pikmin 3 Deluxe Demo ver.” However, we plan to perform the same fix as the full game in a future update.

@skywake That type of issue doesn't make me super confident in the back compatibility of the thousands of games Nintendo only did an extremely cursory check on (such as 'did it turn on')

So what is everyone planning on playing your first day with switch 2? I'll start out with mario kart world then play some cyberpunk. Then I'll probably check out some gamecube games. Mainly Windwaker.

@Truegamer79 I'll probably upgrade my copy of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and play it with my sister. I'm also looking forward to seeing the enhancements made for other Switch games.

I'm wondering if I'll be able to copy over my BOTW and TOTK save files to my switch 2 for the upgrade versions so i don't have to start the games over from the beginning. Surely that'll be possible right?

@Truegamer79 Soul Calibur 2 and Street Fighter 6 for me. Gotta recreate my custom character.
