New year, new post. I've been a bit busy the last few weeks, hehe.
Let's see how I'm doing with pure Switch 2 games versus Switch 2 editions.
Switch 2 Games
Mario Kart World (physical)
Donkey Kong Bananza (physical)
Cyberpunk 2077 (physical)
Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment (physical)
Kirby Air Riders (physical)
Yakuza 0 (digital)
Street Fighter 6 (digital)
Star Wars Outlaws (digital)
Switch 2 Editions
BotW (“Free” NSO Upgrade)
TotK (“Free” NSO Upgrade)
Kirby and the Forgotten Land (DLC Digital)
No Man's Sky (Digital)
Stardew Valley (Digital)
Hades 2 (Digital)
Metroid Prime 4 (Physical)
Pokemon Z-A (Physical)
Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 (Digital)
Hogwarts Legacy (Digital)
The Elder Scrolls Skyrim (Digital)
Silksong (Digital)
Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 (Physical)
I believe and hope I haven't forgotten any games....
A slight advantage for Switch 2 Editions, but I can live with that.
I think that over the entire lifespan of the Switch 2, there will be more pure Switch 2 games than editions, which are only more prevalent now at the beginning.
Arguing with stupid People is like playing Chess with a Pigeon. No matter how well you play Chess, the Pigeon will knock over all the pieces, poop on the board, and strut around as if it had won.
Well, I've tried cutting down on what games I buy except the ones I either know I'll play on my own time or stream (which is the only game time I get nowadays!)
It hasn't worked 😭

@Buizel
It's hard to describe. It's almost like the constant complaining about it diminishes my recollection on how much I liked it. Even when I engage with those comments knowing that I liked the game. But when I come back I remind myself how much I like it
This is exactly what I was thinking but couldn’t quite put into words.
I don't have a Switch 2 yet, but shortly after I get one, I want to obtain the following S2E upgrades:
Zelda TotK
ACNH
Pokémon Z-A (I don't have the original version of this game though, so I'll probably got the S2E on the same day I get the original game)
Whether I get any of the other announced ones is kind of debatable. I do already own Mario Wonder and Forgotten Land, but I'm probably going to end up passing on the upgrades for those to save some money and time.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
Regarding adding content to MK World, i think they could do quite a few things to make the open world part a bit more substantial. More collectibles, more P switches, some extra challenges, a few small things here and there would go a long way in making the overall experience much better!
@alexwolf, I would actually prefer if they left the original map untouched and added new P Switches and stuff to a second map or something. That way, if I ever get Mario Kart World someday, no more of my driving space in free roam is taken up by those things 😅. I am still thinking of potentially getting Mario Kart World several years into the future.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
Switch 2 games - MK World (physical), DK Bananza (physical), Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion (physical), Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment (physical), Kirby Air Riders (physical), Yooka Replaylee (physical), Fast Fusion (digital), GCN NSO
Switch 2 editions - Hades 2 (only because there was no Switch 1 physical)
Everything else is Switch 1 stuff, I didn’t even download the Switch 2 edition upgrade packs I could get at no extra cost like FF Tactics, BotW and TotK. I’d rather just use the Switch 1 version via backwards compatibility.
Well, if everyone's listing their games, I'm gonna do so too:
Switch 2 games
Age of Imprisonment
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy
Donkey Kong Bananza
Cyberpunk 2077
Hades II
Handy Hockey
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
Silksong
Split Fiction
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
Switch 2 editions
Breath of the Wild
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
No Man's Sky
Skyrim
Tears of the Kingdom
(I'm not gonna list games that merely got a resolution update with no proper S2 edition, like Echoes of Wisdom and Captain Toad.)
Out of all of those, the only games I've actually finished so far are Guardians of Azuma and Hades II. So yeah, it's not like I'm gonna run out of S2 games to play anytime soon. 😅
@Pizzamorg I need to get one of the games, and Live a Live has always been on my radar. I'll add it to my backlog at some point . @Henmii the prices in Europe sound tough...I wish it wasn't so expensive there.
I'll bit on the sharing of games - not going to go into my upgraded SW1 games, just focus on the games I've bought for SW2:
Ball X Pit surprised me with how fun it was. I played this game called Siesta Fiesta on 3DS and beat it. Was a brick breaker auto side scroller and downright awesome. I love creative brick breaker games.
Yooka-Replaylee is also fantastic. And Split Fiction. Heck, I own so many NS2 games I already filled a 1TB mSD express (includes updated NS1 games to UHD).
But Fire Emblem Path of Radiance on NSO GameCube app is where it's at for the moment.

@JaxonH I will get to playing that soon...haven't played more than 5 hours of a Fire Emblem game - started 3 houses but fell off it, because I was terrible in combat. Need to give it another chance.
As of this post, here are the Switch 2 games I own... for the first two categories, the games are sorted in the order I got them in.
Switch 2 exclusives
Mario Kart World (digital, bundled with my console)
Donkey Kong Bananza (physical)
Kirby Air Riders (physical)
Switch 2 Edition upgrades (all digital unless stated otherwise)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NSO + EP)
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (NSO + EP)
Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (physical, game and upgrade both in the game card)
Animal Crossing: New Horizons (can't play the upgrade until the release date)
Switch games with free Switch 2 updates, going by Nintendo's website
Animal Crossing: New Horizons (digital)
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (digital)
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (physical)
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (digital)
Splatoon 3 (physical)
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (physical)
Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 (physical)
Super Mario Odyssey (physical)
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (physical)
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (digital)
I've got my eyes set on the upgrade pack for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but I do want to make sure there's a good amount of single-player content. I don't think I'd play too much of the multiplayer stuff in it. Maybe if they can be played online or something. I want to get back into Disney Dreamlight Valley as well... if I recall correctly, they're making a Switch 2 version of it, and I'm hoping they'll make an upgrade pack. Any news on a Switch 2 Edtion for Dreamlight Valley?
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Playing: Mario Kart World, Disney Dreamlight Valley
Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️

Doesn't seem like it's confirmed on whether it will be paid or not and doesn't have a release date, but it is confirmed, according to this NL article.

Ah man, Fire Emblem is incredible! Indulge me for a moment if you would.
Back in 2013, I had just bought a 3DS and Vita, along with Final Fantasy X and Bravely Default. Hated them. Confusing (What are these Pheonix Down things? Why so many menus?) and found turn based combat boring. Dropped em both, wrote off RPGs.
Then my brother tells me about this game called Fire Emblem Awakening, and says play the demo. "It's turn based though- I hate turn based games" I said. He replied, "think of it like chess but with fantasy characters". As a chess player when I was a child, this related to me. So I figured I'd give it a shot.
And oh my gosh, it hooked me. I "got it". Unlike traditional turn based RPGs, this strategy grid based RPG made me think, and it was fun. And wasn't overly complex. Ended up buying the game, played it every day after work so much I daydreamed about what had happened the night bedore all through the workday. 100 hrs later I finally set it down.
Went on to beat Fates, and Shadows of Valentia, and Three Houses, and almost beat Engage as well as Fire Emblem (GBA).
With save states the permadeath in Path of Radiance isn't an issue. Save before each round. So if you mess up and lose a character you don't need to restart the whole map (unless you want to press on with permanent character losses).
Learn basic strategies like baiting enemies in smaller, more manageable groups with a tank. Like, don't charge out to the middle of the map with your whole team. Select enemy units to toggle their range, see what kind of unit it is (if it's mages, use a tank with high Resistance, if it's Knights or whatever, use a tank with high Defense, or in Path of Radiance just bait them out with Titania who has both lol).
Move your tank just within the last square of attack range so only 1-3 units will be able to reach you and attack. Then take them out, rinse and repeat. It's always a game of inching your way through, baiting one enemy at a time to attack. If you go in guns blazing with 9 enemies now able to reach you, they're gonna pummel your glass cannons and kill them.
For Defend maps, bottleneck the enemy with tanks, and keep healers behind to keep them alive. Use ranged units like mages and archers to attack from behind your tanks. Just beware enemy mages and archers can reach them in return, so sometimes you'll want to use the SHOVE command to push a unit one square over so they're out of enemy attack range.
Beyond that, the game does a great job of teaching you with tutorials as you go. Make sure you set tutorials to on, and play on Easy Mode.
Fire Emblem changed me from a rigid, anti-turn based gamer to a diehard fan of the genre. Went back to Final Fantasy X after beating Fire Emblem Awakening and loved it. Ended up beating that right after.
Definitely play Fire Emblem Path of Radiance!

Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)

@JaxonH I love that! I don’t dislike it, I just never clicked with these types of games. But I’ll give it a chance at some point. I need to beat Prince of Persia along with Metroid Zero Mission (which I started for the first time recently, and it’s fantastic). Then onto new releases…but will find time for fire emblem 🤣
My Switch 2 collection is definitely not large, but much of that is just due to me being patient about waiting for sales and the like.
Physical wise I only own 5 games. I've been waiting on a lot of games on Switch 1 to get Switch 2 updates that I didn't get around to like Xenoblade Chronicles X, Astral Chain and TTYD. I debated getting Star Wars Outlaws, but the digital price hasn't dropped as much as the physical one has.
@ShonenJump121
I can at least say, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Paper Mario TTYD and Astral Chain look great and run at a locked 30fps without frame timing issues on Switch 2. Obviously updates are preferred but, at least they're all 720p in handheld and 1080p docked, unlike many other NS1 games.
@Lazz
Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is the best 2D metroidvania I've ever played. But ya, I think if you give Fire Emblem a chance you'll "get it" like I did. Could even just play 1 map per day. They go super fast in the beginning. Don't think they really become full maps until 5 or 6 chapters in, so they're quick 10-15 minute affairs.
One thing to note though. Until Chapter 8 you don't have access to Convoy to store extra weapons, and each character can only hold 4 weapons. So you want to trade weapons and have other characters hold some (even if they cant use them, like a healer holding 2 extra iron swords since they only have 1 healing staff to hold early on anyways), to ensure each character only has 3 weapons at any given time. This is because sometimes defeating special enemies or opening chests gives you a weapon drop, and if they're full you'll have to discard one. So any character with 4, trade one off to another character to hold to ensure they have an open slot at all times.
Once you get Convoy though you can deposit extras there, access the Shop to buy new ones, forge weapons with special stats. I prefer forging Iron weapons because they're cheap, have goot Hit rates, they have higher uses before breaking, and I just max the Attack Stat (Mt = Might) and min the Weight Stat (Wt = Weight).
Why minimize weight? Well, any character whose Attack Speed (Speed + Constitution - Weapon Weight) is 4 or higher than the enemy's, they attack twice. So the lower the weight, the greater the chance they'll double attack the enemy, or in other words, the more enemies they'll double. So Steel Weapons have higher Might (Mt) but weigh a lot more, meaning you're unlikely to double with one. But they're still good to have because enemies can counter attack after your first, before you double with the 2nd. And perhaps you can kill them in one shot with a Steel weapon and thus not take damage in return. Hence why you want a mix of weapons.
