@JaxonH
I got an OG 3DS in the first year, just early enough to be in the ambassador program. Then I got a Zelda edition XL with A Link Between Worlds when it launched because by then my 3DS was a bit worn. I never got a New 3DS because my XL was still serving me well enough right up until the announcement of the Switch
But yeah, I remember around late 2017 they were basically giving them away at the shops. The New 2DS in particular was pretty cheap. If I was to get one at this stage it would definitely be the non-XL SKU. Probably the regular New 3DS with the replaceable plates
At the current used prices though a dedicated emulation device seems like a decent option. If I was to dive back into 3DS/DS. For now though, Steam Deck does ok enough
@skywake
Man, I was loving Deck for Metroid Prime Trilogy Primehack with gyro aiming. Took me like 3 days to get buttons mapped properly, gyro working as "mouse" and the in game mouse cursor to move instead of a real mouse cursor over the screen. Finally got it. Was so happy.
Then I installed Emulation Station for normal Dolphin and it borked my Metroid Prime Trilogy controls. Now I can't get it to work right. Was so upset I think that's when I stopped using my Steamdeck for good.
My brother is thinking about buying one of those HD dual screen devices for running 3DS games. Told him I want to see it in person if he gets one.

Hey @JaxonH. Thanks for the game chat invite. I'm currently watching Drag Race with my partner but will definitely be up for some chat later. Maybe some Split Fiction?
Just shoot an invite later if you want. I'm down for some Split Fiction. Though my save file is a few hours in already due to playing with my brother. Should be able to jump right in though. Story is simple- two women who are fiction authors come to a tech company to have their imaginations read and programmed into a computer, but one freaks out and jumps out of her "bubble" at the last second, stumbling into another's, where they find themselves in an imaginary world of both their works of fiction combined (one fantasy, the other sci-fi).
That's pretty much it. You'll have to learn the mechanics of your character but we can figure it out. Otherwise I can just start a new save, if you really want.

I mostly wait for the sales too, and I often have the games for less even at launch. That being said Europe (and especially my country Holland) is very expensive. In my opinion anyway. Speaking of a Mariokart World roadmap: I am not so sure about that, but we'll see!
@Lazz Live a Live is one of the best games on Switch and it makes me sad I don't see anyone talking about it. Could not recommend it enough.
Live A Live had the misfortune of coming out right around the time I was busy playing other stuff. And then, after getting relegated to the backlog wishlist, it. . . managed to hold a place of "Not quite actually becoming a priority". Whenever I had RPG time not taken up by Trails games, there always managed to be something else that appealed to me more, like Xenoblade or the Star Ocean 2 remake.
Just picked up Mario Kart World again for the first time in a few months and...damn, this really is just a lovely game. Like, I get such a kick out of just choosing my character, costume and kart, and then driving around for no apparent reason. Visually, musically, mechanically...it's just all a gem. I would've absolutely loved being let loose in this world as a kid - it probably would've been one of my favourite games just for how it treats the Mushroom Kingdom and its characters, and how it would spark my imagination.
That said I'm really hungry for more content. Looking forward to seeing how Nintendo build on this in the future.
No offense to anyone who enjoyed Live A Live, but I just couldn't get into it. I acknowledge it's a very interesting, unique game but for me, Idk. I kinda got lost early on and didn't know where to go, eventually losing interest.
Triangle Strategy stands head and shoulders above every other HD-2D game, even the Octopath Traveler and Dragon Quest trilogies. We'll see how Adventures of Elliot turns out. I very much enjoyed the demo.
@Buizel
The thing about MK World is, it'll be kinda hard to add more content to an already pre-designed world. Unless they added a huge expansion to another continent which connected with a few bridges or something. I suppose that could work, actually. Or they could just be extra cups with 4 connected tracks like the one that has Rainbow Road, but aren't accessible from the free roam map.

Live a Live was a weird, cool game but it is one of those that's more a series of neat short games rather than some big, epic masterpiece. I want to call it a masterpiece because its high points are really cool and occasionally way ahead of their time (one of the future ones feels like a narrative quasi-horror indie game more than anything) and its one of the best looking games I've maybe ever played, but it does have enough weird choices and a somewhat mixed bag of scenarios.
Fully agree. It was a neat little game but I only played about 4-5 hrs of it and only got to the 2nd story maybe? Haven’t played octopath but I have played DQIII and I can also vouch that triangle strategy was the best of the bunch. I still want to play Octopath 2 at some point, and DQ 1-2. I’m not playing adventure of Elliot until it fully releases.
@JaxonH I'd honestly be surprised if they didn't touch the game from now on. Most big Nintendo games get some form of DLC these days, and Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe) is one of the most notable examples.
I can see them adding new modes, or maybe expanding the map with a new island or something.
Yea, Live a Live didn’t hit with me. I did the space one and the prehistoric one… I don’t get it. The space one especially felt like I was just watching a visual novel… there was barely any combat.
And as I’ve said a million times, MK World is amazing.
I just realized I have a ton of Switch 2 Editions of games now:
Ball x Pit
Divinity Original Sin
Fantasy Life i
Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
No Man's Sky
Pokemon Legends Z-A
Stardew Valley.
I still only have 2 actual Switch 2 exclusives (Bananza and Hyrule Warriors), but I'm getting my money's worth with Switch 2 editions (as well as other games which simply run better)
@FishyS
I've gotten a mix of use across exclusives, NS2 Editions, NS2-only multiplats, NS1 games that run better and NSO+.
For NS2 Exclusives, most time has been in DK Bonanza and Mario Kart.
For NS2 Editions, Metroid Prime 4 was the first NS2 game I beat. Then Tomb Raider reboot. Got tons of time in Fantasy Life i and Hogwarts Legacy and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, though. Plan to play DQVII Reimagined.
For NS2-only Multiplats, I beat Cyberpunk 2077 and put in quite a bit of time in Street Fighter 6. Plan to dig in to Final Fantasy VII Remake, Resident Evil 7, Village and Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Pragmata.
For NS1 games via BC, already sunk plenty of time into Trials Rising, Pikmin 4 and Xenoblade X.
For NSO+, I'm already on Chapter 9 of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, and put some time into F-Zero GX.
Really nice spread across all categories, I think.

For NS2 Editions, the only first-party one I have is Pokemon Z-A; I have Grand Bazaar and Guardians of Azuma for third party stuff.
But I do want to add Tears and BotW to my collection at some point, but I only want to buy them when I have time to actually go back and give each another run. And I'm back and forth on Kirby Forgotten Land; I 100%'ed that game and loved it, but if I buy the S2 Edition I'm getting it on cartridge, so I need to find it for a steal on eBay at some point.
@Buizel
100% agreement on World. Mario Kart is always that game I play between games so I always find myself coming back to it after a break playing other stuff. And every time I come back it surprises me with how good it is
It's hard to describe. It's almost like the constant complaining about it diminishes my recollection on how much I liked it. Even when I engage with those comments knowing that I liked the game. But when I come back I remind myself how much I like it

I love Mario Kart World as well. I recently played some online Knockout Tour races and I always have a blast playing that mode, lol. I like its new mechanics and courses, too.
As for what Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades I have, I have ones for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime 4 (which... I have yet to play), and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (which I can't play yet, I'm stuck with the regular version).

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
I have more S2Es than Switch 2 only titles too: TotK, Forgotten Land, Legends ZA, Prime 4, Hades II, Ball x Pit, RDR. Over half of those were brand new games though!
Same for me. My current collection of Switch 2 games
Switch 2 Games:
Mario Kart World
DK Bananza
Fast Fusion
Switch 2 Editions:
BotW
TotK
Metroid Prime 4
Dave the Diver
Animal Crossing... this week...
I've also played a bit of Air Riders which I got my sister for Christmas. But even if I counted that S2 Editions win out. Probably even more one sided of you count free updates in the S2 Edition column eg Galaxy 1 & 2.
Also, TotK is definitely my most played game on Switch 2 thus far. Probably followed by Mario Kart World, but then Mario & Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Not just for Switch 2 games
