I grabbed an Onn. Works fine so far, although I don't know about the long term quality of it.

They're Lexar manufactured cards that didn't meet their standards, that were binned, and then sold in bulk to Walmart. Should be fine.

Don’t know how many have done this, but I turned the HDR off for handheld mode and I’m easily getting another hour or so of battery life playing stuff like MK World and Cyberpunk. I expected maybe like another 15-30 minutes, but honestly it’s much more than that.

As someone who needs to reduce their screentime, I'm fine with the reduced battery life....until I go into docked mode ahahha.

But I'm ok with it as I'm not binge-gaming anywhere near as much as I was on the Switch, which was an issue for me.

Finally got the Switch 2 today, so I transferred my data over and entered Nintendo eShop to download Mario Kart World. Still waiting for everything to finish downloading but can’t wait to play it soon!

They had those on Walmart but for some reason shipping isn't available. I tried Ebay once for an SD card for the original switch and it turned out to be a fake. Apparently there's these cards going around that don't really have the capacity advertised and they screw up your saves. The one i bought said it was 1 TB but it started glitching out. It kept deleting my stuff.

Sadly this is common everywhere including Amazon marketplace, Temu and Aliexpress etc. I'm happy to return faulty cards and keep trying my luck and get lucky about 1 in 5 times. I use various utilities to make sure the capacity is true like h2testw. A common find is the actual card only has 16GB or 64GB capacity but is sold as much higher capacity with a hacked header. Once you go past 16GB or 64GB it just writes over your original earlier data. I even bought a brand new and sealed Sandisk 512GB micro sd card but the card itself was completely fake even though the packaging looked perfect to me. The seller didn't even want it back he just refunded without issue. That card seemed to corrupt itself as it worked initially but something about its hacked file structure meant it failed almost immediately was was unusable. I tried so many utils to get it working once I got it free but its only fit for the bin.

I guess the moral of the story is don't go cheap on your micro sd cards.

So far I'd say my only real complaint with the system is that the battery life is... just straight up not good. Otherwise the system is great. Got Cyberpunk as a birthday gift so I'm enjoying that.

Good tip. HDR is basically extra brightness so makes sense.

I'm of the view that the battery life complaints are the Switch 2 equivalent of Electric Vehicle range anxiety. Sure, more range is more better but if you stop and think about it how often do you actually make 200km+ trips? Probably not that often

Speaking for myself, I live in the outer suburbs of Perth Australia which is fairly infamously heavy on the urban sprawl. For me it's ~25km to the CBD where I work, ~3km to my local shops, ~2km to my parents, ~2km to my sister's, ~17km to the "big shops". Longest semi-regular-ish trip would be ~65km to my brother who's out in the sticks. Could I plan a significantly longer trip than this? Sure. Easily. If I was to holiday down south it'd probably be around a 250km. But that's a once a year at best kind of thing

Really the only issue with EV range is if you don't charge it overnight when you intend to use it the next day. And there's an easy solution to that. Charge it more often than you would fill a tank of petrol. It's like this, there are definitely some people who would have driving patterns or situations where it's still not really viable to charge every 200-300km or once every few days. But for the vast, vast majority of people.... the issue is more psychological and behavioural than anything else

A possible crazy day for me would be if I drove to work and back then to my brother's and back it'd be ~180km. That'd honestly never be something that'd happen realistically, I'm not going to my brother's on a week day, but even "possible" scenario? Still under 200km. For me, honestly, even one of those low range ~220km EVs is doing the job and paying more for more range would be just wasting money

It's the same with Switch 2. I'm mostly docked so, that's where I'm at, buckets of salt for my take then I guess. Although it's a new device so I am using it far more than I probably would usually use it. Lowest battery percentage for me so far? 25%. After probably a couple of hours of Tears of the Kingdom with the 90% charge limit enabled. I wasn't timing it but it was definitely longer than I'd usually play in one go portably, probably 2 hours would be my guess. And honestly, while not all day, 2 hours is still a fair chunk of time. I doubt I'm hitting that often in one sitting. And if I was hitting it often through the day.... I'd put it on charge....

My partner and I have a Switch 2 each, and yesterday I happened to check the battery level of each Joy-con 2 on my console whilst in the dock, and noticed neither Joy-con 2 was charging. After restarting the console, those Joy-con 2s did start charging again, and I noticed the exact same thing happening with my partner's Joy-con 2s.

This is a minor thing, I know, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their Joy-con 2s.

What do you think about Bravely default? I can get it for less than 30 euros. Is it worth it?

I got $30 in eshop credit im looking to spend. If I need to tap into my cash to grab something worthwhile I will, but I'd love to find something newly released within that price range, or something from a decent sale. I'd prefer a switch 2 exclusive, but not much I'm excited for..

I dunno if you like turn-based JRPGs, but the remastered version of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for the Switch 2 is 40 dollars without any discounts. It's a fairly traditional JRPG but a good one, and the Switch 2 version adds two new minigames where you have to use both joycons in mouse mode, they're surprisingly fun.

@Polvasti yea I've thought about that. I did like bravely default 2 alot. I might save that for after DK since it's a long one.

I just realised that I can not like the news on my Switch 2. Strange.

One advantage to using the free, included mouse strap (with cord cut off) is the ability to seamlessly transition between mouse and gyro aiming. That may not seem like a very big deal, but after some playtime I can assure you it matters. Hogwarts Legacy, for example (extremely high quality port btw and only $10 to upgrade!), I play using mouse, but when it comes to aiming with the wand I lift the joycon quickly to utilize gyro aiming. I just find it more fun and always have. But the precision that mouse gives you turning the camera is unparalleled by any input method conceived by man. So the combination of having a controller in your left hand with mouse in your right hand, that seamlessly transitions into a controller in your left hand with gyro aiming in your right hand... it's the best controller innovation of the past 40 years. So... my entire life.

The mouse was a major breakthrough for aiming, and gyro was a major breakthrough for aiming. But the combination of the two without needing to rely on a 19th century era typewriter to gain the advantage of the mouse (can't believe CONSOLES solved this issue before PC- it's 2025 guys, we should have had half controllers in one hand with mouse in the other decades ago) is, in every sense of the word without being hyperbolic, a game changer.

Cyberpunk 2077 with mouse, switching to gyro also works like Hogwarts Legacy. There was some misinformation going around saying you had to change it in the menu each time but you don't. I think that's for motion gestures. And Idk which I like more- mouse or gyro. They're both so fun! At least now no more worrying if a dev will include gyro aiming. Worst case they just include mouse and that'll be good enough for me. As long as it's not those ancient analog sticks.

HO LEEE EXPLETIVE!
I just got my invite to buy an MKW bundle from Nintendo. Amazing! Well that took way longer than I anticipated. I registered within about a minute of the direct.😆 Thankfully I landed a console already.

@Dev-N Me too! Hilarious!😁

I'm not a Pikmin fan by any means, but 4 was a darn fun game from start to finish.

I've also played through all the Bayonetta games, and I really liked 3. I think the first is still my favorite, but 3 has some cool diversions from the combat that some people may enjoy (solving puzzles, some collectibles and stuff). The action is as furious and over-the-top as always.

The amusing thing about Pikmin 4 is that I skipped it in the hopes that "Switch 2" was "soon" and that it'd get some kind of enhancement patch. In 2023. Because if there was ever a series I wanted to see at high resolution with HDR its Pikmin

And now here we are with Switch 2 out and enhancement patches flowing. No Pikmin 4 yet. So here I continue to wait

I hope we'll get a Switch 2 edition or enhancement update of some sort! I already played it when it released, but I really wanna play it again on Switch 2. My wishes would be hard mode and/or a new area/new treasures.

I've got a good feeling that we're getting a Switch 2 Edition later this year
