I'm curious how the driving will be on Switch 2 without analogue triggers. Guess you could use the right stick for accelerate/brake but that means you lose the camera control.
How cars handle is the worst aspect of the game so yeah, curious.

Currently on my second playthrough on the Steam Deck but I'd definitely buy again if I had a new Switch, I'm not sure the Deck can handle Phantom Liberty, especially as I'd be running it from an SD card.

It is just such a cop-out and idiotic decision by Nintendo to not offer analog triggers on their Pro controllers.

This just means you will never get any real racing simulators/games on the Switch 2. Just like with the Switch 1.

Developers are just not risking it, even if some third parties offer controllers with analog sticks, as they know the vast majority only buys original accessories. I myself have had no good experience with any of these third party offerings. Many of these controllers felt cheap, light and plasticy

@Jeronan @Xyphon22 - (this is what I read) there's also a filter for nudity, maybe other content that you can opt out of?

Which makes me wonder if they changed / censored Jig Jig Street, the game's red light district.

I'd link a video, but I don't want a mod warning.

@Magician Nothing is changed. Jig Jig Street is just a red light district, but it doesn't show any outright nudity whatsoever.

I mean... it's an 18+ rated game, so yeah maybe not the right game for small kids, but that should be obvious for any parent.

Got the game yesterday at a discounted rate and I'm really impressed!

Runs so well in handheld mode.

For those of you who've already bought the game: can you tell me whether it supports 5.1 channel surround sound in docked mode? I can't find any info on that online.

Did I understand correctly what they showed was early development because it was done in a few weeks? Because if so then I have hopes they’re gonna be able to really polish this up by time of release not that what was shown was bad or anything. But I assume everything in the Direct was from several month old builds like normally is the case with demos.

Development kits went out in 2020/2021 I believe as Nintendo intended to launch the console many years ago which is when the T239 chipset was developed. I guess they were planning on a 2022 launch originally but the original Switch 1 was selling so well and highly profitable they didn't. I suspect the Switch Pro or whatever it would be called back then wouldn't have had 12GB of memory or 256GB of storage though. Maybe 8GB and 128GB storage but the storage speed would have been much lower and cartridge sizes smaller. Anyway developers have had the T239 development kits for a long time. They have probably been about for 5 years but which developers were writing for it is another matter. Cyberpunk was released in 2020 so I guess would have been an ideal title to launch with the Switch Pro/2 back then. Officially DLSS launched in early 2019 but was available in beta state before that but the first RTX 20 series cards launched in 2018 I think.

I wonder if we will ever know which games that had early development back then, reached retail in 2025 and which games were abandoned because the hardware launch was cancelled back then? What T239 games have we lost, maybe some will go digital at a later date if most of the work was done and maybe they are waiting to see if the Switch 2 is a success before updating those games.

eshop states that it supports linear whatsoever surround sound

Yeah, having now bought the game, I can confirm it supports 5.1 channel audio. And the surround sound in it works really well to enhance immersion, since the game is set in a bustling metropolis with various sounds coming from all around you.

How are you feeling about control options? I don’t have a Pro Controller to test, but I tried every other option with JoyCon.

While I appreciate traditional controls for exploration, I just can’t aim properly with the right analog, not sure if I suck or if it’s poorly implemented; small movements don’t capture and long movements are too long so it’s hard to aim. Mouse controls are so perfect for aiming, but they’re locked behind a setting that turns off the right analog stick. Motion for fine tuning is a good balance but I really wish Prime 4 controls were available for shooting sections (as in if you put the controller in mouse position it uses mouse mode).

love using the JoyCon with motion controls enabled just like during the Wii era. It's very precise (but I am only enabling it when drawing a weapon). Mouse controls are fine but I always get cramps 'cause you have to use the face buttons all the time. Especially pressing the a button is not comfortable.

@RenanKJ
Yea, I’m also finding it a tad difficult to aim exactly with a pro controller just using the right stick. Adding motion control when aiming down the sights is pretty good, but I still need to try the mouse mode.

Such an awesome game. My goal is to just experience the main storyline. Everything else is just too much and too overwhelming lol

You'd think it would. Unfortunately, I've spent a fair bit of time in mom-and-pop video game stores. I can't count the number of parents who bought Grand Theft Auto and/or Call of Duty for their preteen children. Some parents don't care. "Just give them the thing so they don't ask me for it anymore."

Apparently there's enough of it to warrant a "sex" warning at the R18+ level in Australia at least, though they're often wildly inconsistent in how they classify sex in video games, but being able to pay prostitutes and/or interactivity during sex scenes may have tipped it over into "adult" territory.

Porygon did nothing wrong.

There is no active interactivity during sex scenes. It's just a fixed cinematic, like you see in your average sex scene in a movie. You don't see any genitals whatsoever and you can even disable genitals altogether during char creation, so you won't see it when switching clothes.

This will be the first time I play CP77 from the beginning with Phantom Liberty installed.

I played Phantom Liberty in full on PC, but by using my save file from a previous run through of the entire game.

Can't wait to experience this from the ground up.

I've played this for maybe ten hours or so. I kinda feel the combat in this game is... bad? Like, every enemy takes so many shots to kill. I can just stand in front of them and absolutely unload with an assault rifle and they barely react! I am just plinking away HP. It doesn't feel like I'm a badass cyperpunk movie protagonist. The best way I've found to kill things is just to go pretty far away and use Overheat over and over and over, and they don't seem to care much until they die. C'mon guys, GoldenEye and Perfect Dark 25 years ago enemies that at least looked like they were in pain when they got shot. I also don't love the very hand-holdy mission objectives that tell you what to do every single step. I'll keep playing though because the storyline is intriguing (even if sometimes I don't know what the hell is happening.)

@wollywoo CP2077 is an RPG, so you might have gone to an area with much tougher enemies that have better defenses, higher tier cyberware implants, etc. These require you to have leveled up more and invested in skills and cyberware.
Its important, especially if you are new to the game, to NOT rush through the Story. Do a lot of the side jobs from various Fixers that call you and send you messages. Check the Police scanner, etc. These give you a lot of XP and cash!
There are a lot of really cool side jobs in this game, that are whole Story lines in itself. Some even more amazing that the main story itself (in my opinion). So would be a shame to miss those.

The more you play and level up, the more you unlock in skill trees. Netrunner skills, for example, are extremely powerful and its incredibly satisfying downing a whole swat of enemies with just Contagion lol. One of my favorite skills in the game.
Though it requires you to level up, unlock the right skills and buy/equip the right cyberware that increase your RAM capacity, for example. As the best netrunner skills use a lot of RAM. So boosting RAM recovery rate is also a must for such a build.
Tier progression: White > Green > Blue > Purple > Yellow.

Either way, if you struggling, you should check out some guides. Like the example above. Slottable netrunner skills come in different Tiers, which you can find as loot (blueprints), then craft and slot. Higher Tier skills do significantly more damage, but at increased RAM cost. So no point going after those until you have progressed in the game more and leveled up.

And if you more into a pure weapon build. That´s fine too. Check out build guides and see what recommended attributes and perks you should unlock and which kind of Cyberware you should go for.
CP2077 has some crazy unique weapons with auto tracking, auto homing munition, etc. Plenty of cool stuff.

This is not a linear game that constantly holds your hand (though it can be if all you do is focus on main story, but you will hit a wall sooner or later if you don´t bother to figure out Attributes, Perks, skills, etc).
You can literally drive / go anywhere and get into serious trouble with some of the more seriously equiped higher Tier members of various gangs and Corporations when at low level still.
