The thing that makes me feel at least a bit confident in this movie is that Wes Ball is a Zelda fan. Over a decade ago, he talked about how the next huge motion-capture project after Avatar should be a Zelda adaptation while lamenting how he wouldn't be able to direct such a thing, and he was also singing the praises of Tears of the Kingdom on Twitter a few months ago

I really think making this a live action movie is a bad idea. An animated movie, i think, would have been far better. Something akin to the cutscenes in the link’s awakening remake would be awesome.

I’d take 3D animation over live action too but not from Illumination. In other words If the options are Illumination’s Zelda or Live Action Zelda, I pick no movie.
