Bo Bragason is Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is Link.
This is the first time ive heard of these actors.
Me too, although looking at their pictures, they are just kids (in fact she is at his early twenties according to wikipedia, although all her images are when she was a little girl) so a long cinematographic career was not to be expected from them either.
Not surprising that they would go with some no names rather then well known actors. One it keeps the cost down. Two you would need someone really young looking and I cant think of any young looking established actors. I know there was a rumor that Elliot Page would be a good choice for Link but even him I feel is two old for the part. I suspect if they do get a big name to carry the movie it will be Ganondorf kinda like what they did with Jack Nicholson in Batman.

It's rare that I'd be more interested in a live action version of something like this, but I just recently watched the live action One Piece so maybe because of that I'm feeling a bit more optimistic about the idea than usual. And that also had mostly names I had never heard of before. By contrast, the entire concept of Illumination I just try to avoid at any cost, just because I don't want to waste my time with, what is probably at best, mid made for 6 year olds. Also despite some high quality visuals, that Mario movie just seemed mostly like the most standard, boring version of the Mushroom Kingdom, which I've been strongly against since Sticker Star.
Though part of it is also that the Mario movie had a huge disadvantage because nothing the movie could do could ever be remotely as funny as the actual cast announcement. You could bring in Alex Hirsch, Bill Burr and the people behind EEOAO and still not match the comedic joy we got just from that alone.
Despite that, either way, even if this is good, this will still be a low tier Zelda thing, in all liklihood, because Zelda games have such a consistent quality. (Phantom Hourglass is a major disappointment by Zelda standards and its still probably a 7/10). But people will accept it if its mediocre but fits the franchise well, so it doesn't need to be better than that (which kinda sucks imo).
I just hope they hire Jason Momoa or Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison to play a major role like a goron or blacksmith. What movies need are more big confident guys with really deep voices so that the townspeople know they are safe from Piglins and Bokoblins alike!
All these kids want today is to stay young forever, and movies like Zelda will push the subculture forward by introducing more coming-of-age stories and adult role models.
@jellocube I don' think Jason Momoa wants to be pigeonholed as a video game adaptation actor, and after his recent appearance in the Minecraft film it would be exactly what we all would think. Don't take me wrong, I like him, but I think it is difficult for that to happen.
The Mario movie was okay in that there's not much to Mario in terms of story so there was no risk of damaging my mental canon. A movie about Zelda and Link can only reshape the entire zeitgeist around the games and I'm not looking for that. I will never be seeing this film because I don't want things re-contextualized.
